About
Gurdwara Kaulsar Sahib is named after Bibi Kaulan, a devoted disciple of Guru Hargobind who was the daughter of the Qazi of Lahore and was sentenced to death by her own father for her devotion to the Guru. She was secretly brought to Amritsar by the Sufi saint Mian Mir and spent the rest of her life in devoted service. The Kaulsar sarovar, one of the five sacred pools of Amritsar, was excavated between 1624 and 1627 under the supervision of Baba Buddha, and Guru Hargobind recommended devotees bathe in its waters before visiting the Amrit Sarovar.
