Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Gurdwaras.com (“the Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use paid services on the Platform. By using the Platform, you represent that you meet this requirement.

3. Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update it as needed. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

4. Platform Services

Gurdwaras.com provides a directory of Sikh gurdwaras worldwide, community features (Sangat membership, events, calendar), a matrimonial platform, a business directory, prayer booking services, donation facilitation, and educational resources. Features may be added, modified, or removed at our discretion.

5. Payments & Subscriptions

Certain services require payment (matrimonial subscriptions, business listings, prayer bookings, donations). All payments are processed through Stripe. Prices are listed in US dollars. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis; contact us within 7 days of a charge to request a refund.

Donations made through the Platform are directed to the selected gurdwara. A platform fee (currently 15%) is retained to cover payment processing and platform operating costs.

6. User Content

You retain ownership of content you submit (gurdwara information, business listings, matrimonial profiles, photos, reviews). By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, store, and distribute that content on the Platform. You represent that you have the right to submit such content and that it does not violate any third-party rights.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information; impersonate another person or entity; use the Platform for any unlawful purpose; harass, threaten, or abuse other users; scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from the Platform without permission; attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Platform; upload malicious code or interfere with the Platform's operation; or use the Platform to promote products, services, or organizations unrelated to the Sikh community without authorization.

8. Gurdwara Listings & Claims

Gurdwara information is sourced from public data and community submissions. We make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy but do not guarantee it. Gurdwara administrators may claim and manage their gurdwara's listing through a verification process. We reserve the right to approve or reject claims and to remove listings that violate these terms.

9. Matrimonial Services

The matrimonial platform connects Sikh individuals seeking marriage. Gurdwaras.com does not verify the identity, background, or intentions of matrimonial users beyond basic account authentication. Users are responsible for exercising due diligence. We are not liable for any interactions, meetings, or outcomes resulting from the matrimonial service.

10. Intellectual Property

The Platform's design, branding, code, and original content are owned by Gurdwaras.com. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from our intellectual property without written permission. Sikh religious content (Gurbani, Hukamnama) is sacred scripture and is shared freely for spiritual benefit.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, accuracy of information, or fitness for a particular purpose.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gurdwaras.com shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you violate these terms or engage in conduct harmful to other users or the Platform. You may delete your account at any time through your profile settings or by contacting us.

14. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Canada. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the Platform shall be resolved in the courts of Alberta, Canada.
