About

Gurdwara Bibeksar Sahib is situated near Chattiwind Gate in Amritsar, about 1.5 kilometers from the Golden Temple and opposite Gurdwara Ramsar Sahib. Guru Hargobind, the sixth Guru, would rest here after hunting and laid the foundation for the Bibeksar sarovar in 1628, making it a site for propagating Sikh teachings and organizing his followers as a military force against Mughal oppression. The present Gurdwara was later erected by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, and its sarovar is one of the five sacred pools of Amritsar.
