ਆਸਾ ਦੀ ਵਾਰ
Read Asa Di Vaar in Gurmukhi with English translation. Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s vaar in Raag Asa, with sloks of Guru Angad Dev Ji — sung at dawn in gurdwaras.
Asa Di Vaar is a vaar (ballad) in Raag Asa. Guru Nanak Dev Ji composed 24 pauris; sloks by Guru Nanak and Guru Angad are paired with them in the Granth. Gurdwaras typically sing it as the early-morning kirtan.
Traditionally sung in the gurdwara at dawn, often after or with Asa di kirtan. It is not a required home nitnem bani, though many households play or recite it in the morning.
The vaar speaks to living truthfully, rejecting empty ritual and hypocrisy, and keeping the Creator in mind as the day begins. Hearing it in sangat is the usual setting; this page is a reading copy.
