About
Gurdwara Mata Sundri is a major historical Sikh shrine on Mata Sundri Road in the heart of Delhi, built at the site of the haveli where Mata Sundri, wife of Guru Gobind Singh, resided after the Guru's departure to the Deccan. After Guru Gobind Singh's passing at Nanded in 1708, Mata Sundri nurtured and guided the Khalsa from Delhi for nearly forty years, issuing hukamnamas to Sikhs in Punjab and deputing Bhai Mani Singh as head priest of the Golden Temple. The Gurdwara houses sacred weapons that Guru Gobind Singh personally entrusted to Mata Sundri.
