ਆਸ ਮਨੋਰਥੁ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਭੇਟਤ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
aas manorath pooran hovai bheTat gur dharasaiaa jeeau ||2||
His hopes and desires are fulfilled, when he gains the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan. ||2||
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਕਿਛੁ ਮਿਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੀ ॥
agam agochar kichh mit nahee jaanee ||
The limits of the Inaccessible and Unfathomable Lord cannot be known.
ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥
saadhik sidh dhiaaveh giaanee ||
The seekers, the Siddhas, those beings of miraculous spiritual powers, and the spiritual teachers, all meditate on Him.
ਖੁਦੀ ਮਿਟੀ ਚੂਕਾ ਭੋਲਾਵਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
khudhee miTee chookaa bholaavaa gur man hee meh pragaTaiaa jeeau ||3||
Thus, their egos are erased, and their doubts are dispelled. The Guru has enlightened their minds. ||3||
ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥ ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਨਾ ॥
anadh ma(n)gal kaliaan nidhaanaa || sookh sahaj har naam vakhaanaa ||
I chant the Name of the Lord, the Treasure of bliss, joy, salvation, intuitive peace and poise.
ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਾਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੫॥੩੨॥
hoi kirapaal suaamee apanaa naau naanak ghar meh aaiaa jeeau ||4||25||32||
When my Lord and Master blessed me with His Mercy, O Nanak, then His Name entered the home of my mind. ||4||25||32||
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
maajh mahalaa panjavaa ||
Maajh, Fifth Mehla:
ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਸੋਇ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥
sun sun jeevaa soi tumaaree ||
Hearing of You, I live.
ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਅਤਿ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
too(n) preetam Thaakur at bhaaree ||
You are my Beloved, my Lord and Master, Utterly Great.
ਤੁਮਰੇ ਕਰਤਬ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਓਟ ਗੋੁਪਾਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
tumare karatab tum hee jaanahu tumaree oT guopaalaa jeeau ||1||
You alone know Your Ways; I grasp Your Support, Lord of the World. ||1||
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਤ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
gun gaavat man hariaa hovai ||
Singing Your Glorious Praises, my mind is rejuvenated.
ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣਤ ਮਲੁ ਸਗਲੀ ਖੋਵੈ ॥
kathaa sunat mal sagalee khovai ||
Hearing Your Sermon, all filth is removed.
ਭੇਟਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਸਦਾ ਜਪਉ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
bheTat sa(n)g saadh sa(n)tan kai sadhaa japau dhiaalaa jeeau ||2||
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I meditate forever on the Merciful Lord. ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਮਾਰਉ ॥
prabh apunaa saas saas samaarau ||
I dwell on my God with each and every breath.
ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਮਨਿ ਧਾਰਉ ॥
eeh mat gur prasaadh man dhaarau ||
This understanding has been implanted within my mind, by Guru's Grace.
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਾ ਸਰਬ ਮਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
tumaree kirapaa te hoi pragaasaa sarab miaa pratipaalaa jeeau ||3||
By Your Grace, the Divine Light has dawned. The Merciful Lord cherishes everyone. ||3||
ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
sat sat sat prabh soiee ||
True, True, True is that God.
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਦ ਆਪੇ ਹੋਈ ॥
sadhaa sadhaa sadh aape hoiee ||
Forever, forever and ever, He Himself is.
ਚਲਿਤ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੬॥੩੩॥
chalit tumaare pragaT piaare dhekh naanak bhe nihaalaa jeeau ||4||26||33||
Your Playful Ways are revealed, O my Beloved. Beholding them, Nanak is enraptured. ||4||26||33||
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Maajh, Fifth Mehla:
ਹੁਕਮੀ ਵਰਸਣ ਲਾਗੇ ਮੇਹਾ ॥
hukamee varasan laage mehaa ||
By His Command, the rain begins to fall.
ਸਾਜਨ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੇਹਾ ॥
saajan sa(n)t mil naam japehaa ||
The Saints and friends have met to chant the Naam.
ਸੀਤਲ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਠਾਢਿ ਪਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
seetal saa(n)t sahaj sukh paiaa Thaadd paiee prabh aape jeeau ||1||
Serene tranquility and peaceful ease have come; God Himself has brought a deep and profound peace. ||1||
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਬਹੁਤੋ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
sabh kichh bahuto bahut upaiaa ||
God has produced everything in great abundance.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਸਗਲ ਰਜਾਇਆ ॥
kar kirapaa prabh sagal rajaiaa ||
Granting His Grace, God has satisfied all.
ਦਾਤਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਾਤਾਰਾ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
dhaat karahu mere dhaataaraa jeea ja(n)t sabh dhraape jeeau ||2||
Bless us with Your Gifts, O my Great Giver. All beings and creatures are satisfied. ||2||
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੀ ਨਾਈ ॥
sachaa saahib sachee naiee ||
True is the Master, and True is His Name.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
gur parasaadh tis sadhaa dhiaaiee ||
By Guru's Grace, I meditate forever on Him.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭੈ ਕਾਟੇ ਮੋਹਾ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
janam maran bhai kaaTe mohaa binase sog sa(n)taape jeeau ||3||
The fear of birth and death has been dispelled; emotional attachment, sorrow and suffering have been erased. ||3||
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ॥
saas saas naanak saalaahe ||
With each and every breath, Nanak praises the Lord.
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਾਟੇ ਸਭਿ ਫਾਹੇ ॥
simarat naam kaaTe sabh faahe ||
Meditating in remembrance on the Name, all bonds are cut away.
ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸ ਕਰੀ ਖਿਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਜਾਪੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੩੪॥
pooran aas karee khin bheetar har har har gun jaape jeeau ||4||27||34||
One's hopes are fulfilled in an instant, chanting the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har, Har. ||4||27||34||
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Maajh, Fifth Mehla:
ਆਉ ਸਾਜਨ ਸੰਤ ਮੀਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
aau saajan sa(n)t meet piaare ||
Come, dear friends, Saints and companions:
ਮਿਲਿ ਗਾਵਹ ਗੁਣ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥
mil gaaveh gun agam apaare ||
let us join together and sing the Glorious Praises of the Inaccessible and Infinite Lord.
ਗਾਵਤ ਸੁਣਤ ਸਭੇ ਹੀ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਸੋ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਮ ਕੀਏ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
gaavat sunat sabhe hee mukate so dhiaaieeaai jin ham ke'ee jeeau ||1||
Those who sing and hear these praises are liberated, so let us meditate on the One who created us. ||1||
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਜਾਵਹਿ ॥
janam janam ke kilabikh jaaveh ||
The sins of countless incarnations depart,
ਮਨਿ ਚਿੰਦੇ ਸੇਈ ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥
man chi(n)dhe seiee fal paaveh ||
and we receive the fruits of the mind's desires.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸਭਸੁ ਕਉ ਦੀਏ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
simar saahib so sach suaamee rijak sabhas kau dhe'ee jeeau ||2||
So meditate on that Lord, our True Lord and Master, who gives sustenance to all. ||2||
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
naam japat sarab sukh paieeaai ||
Chanting the Naam, all pleasures are obtained.
ਸਭੁ ਭਉ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
sabh bhau binasai har har dhiaaieeaai ||
All fears are erased, meditating on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਸੋ ਪਾਰਗਿਰਾਮੀ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਗਲੇ ਥੀਏ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
jin seviaa so paaragiraamee kaaraj sagale the'ee jeeau ||3||
One who serves the Lord swims across to the other side, and all his affairs are resolved. ||3||
ਆਇ ਪਇਆ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
aai piaa teree saranaiee ||
I have come to Your Sanctuary;
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਲੈਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥
jiau bhaavai tiau laih milaiee ||
if it pleases You, unite me with You.
