ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਸੇਵਾ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥
vich haumai sevaa thai na paae ||
One who serves in egotism is not accepted or approved.
ਜਨਮਿ ਮਰੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਏ ॥
janam marai fir aavai jaae ||
Such a person is born, only to die again, and come and go in reincarnation.
ਸੋ ਤਪੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਾਈ ਸੇਵਾ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
so tap pooraa saiee sevaa jo har mere man bhaanee he ||11||
Perfect is that penance and that service, which is pleasing to the Mind of my Lord. ||11||
ਹਉ ਕਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਆਖਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
hau kiaa gun tere aakhaa suaamee ||
What Glorious Virtues of Yours should I chant, O my Lord and Master?
ਤੂ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
too sarab jeeaa kaa a(n)tarajaamee ||
You are the Inner-knower, the Searcher of all souls.
ਹਉ ਮਾਗਉ ਦਾਨੁ ਤੁਝੈ ਪਹਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
hau maagau dhaan tujhai peh karate har anadhin naam vakhaanee he ||12||
I beg for blessings from You, O Creator Lord; I repeat Your Name night and day. ||12||
ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਜੋਰੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਬੋਲਣ ਕਾ ॥
kis hee jor aha(n)kaar bolan kaa ||
Some speak in egotistical power.
ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਜੋਰੁ ਦੀਬਾਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ॥
kis hee jor dheebaan maiaa kaa ||
Some have the power of authority and Maya.
ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਟੇਕ ਧਰ ਅਵਰ ਨ ਕਾਈ ਤੂ ਕਰਤੇ ਰਾਖੁ ਮੈ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
mai har bin Tek dhar avar na kaiee too karate raakh mai nimaanee he ||13||
I have no other Support at all, except the Lord. O Creator Lord, please save me, meek and dishonored. ||13||
ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਮਾਣੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
nimaane maan kareh tudh bhaavai ||
You bless the meek and dishonored with honor, as it pleases You, O Lord.
ਹੋਰ ਕੇਤੀ ਝਖਿ ਝਖਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਵੈ ॥
hor ketee jhakh jhakh aavai jaavai ||
Many others argue in conflict, coming and going in reincarnation.
ਜਿਨ ਕਾ ਪਖੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਊਪਰਿ ਗਲ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
jin kaa pakh kareh too suaamee tin kee uoopar gal tudh aanee he ||14||
Those people, whose side You take, O Lord and Master, are elevated and successful. ||14||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
har har naam jinee sadhaa dhiaaiaa ||
Those who meditate forever on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har,
ਤਿਨੀ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
tinee gur parasaadh param padh paiaa ||
by Guru's Grace, obtain the supreme status.
ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਪਛੋਤਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥
jin har seviaa tin sukh paiaa bin sevaa pachhotaanee he ||15||
Those who serve the Lord find peace; without serving Him, they regret and repent. ||15||
ਤੂ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਵਰਤਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਗੰਨਾਥੁ ॥
too sabh meh varateh har jaga(n)naath ||
You are pervading all, O Lord of the world.
ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹਾਥੁ ॥
so har japai jis gur masatak haath ||
He alone meditates on the Lord, upon whose forehead the Guru places His hand.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪੀ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸੁ ਦਸਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੨॥
har kee saran piaa har jaapee jan naanak dhaas dhasaanee he ||16||2||
Entering the Sanctuary of the Lord, I meditate on the Lord; servant Nanak is the slave of His slaves. ||16||2||
ਮਾਰੂ ਸੋਲਹੇ ਮਹਲਾ ੫
maaroo solahe mahalaa panjavaa
Maaroo, Solahas, Fifth Mehla:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaadh ||
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਕਲਾ ਉਪਾਇ ਧਰੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਧਰਣਾ ॥
kalaa upai dharee jin dharanaa ||
He infused His power into the earth.
ਗਗਨੁ ਰਹਾਇਆ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਚਰਣਾ ॥
gagan rahaiaa hukame charanaa ||
He suspends the heavens upon the feet of His Command.
ਅਗਨਿ ਉਪਾਇ ਈਧਨ ਮਹਿ ਬਾਧੀ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਭਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
agan upai ieedhan meh baadhee so prabh raakhai bhaiee he ||1||
He created fire and locked it into wood. That God protects all, O Siblings of Destiny. ||1||
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਕਉ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸੰਬਾਹੇ ॥
jeea ja(n)t kau rijak sa(n)baahe ||
He gives nourishment to all beings and creatures.
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥ ਆਪਾਹੇ ॥
karan kaaran samarath aapaahe ||
He Himself is the all-powerful Creator, the Cause of causes.
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਨਹਾਰਾ ਸੋਈ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਹਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
khin meh thaap uthaapanahaaraa soiee teraa sahaiee he ||2||
In an instant, He establishes and disestablishes; He is your help and support. ||2||
ਮਾਤ ਗਰਭ ਮਹਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਿਆ ॥
maat garabh meh jin pratipaaliaa ||
He cherished you in your mother's womb.
ਸਾਸਿ ਗ੍ਰਾਸਿ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਲਿਆ ॥
saas graas hoi sa(n)g samaaliaa ||
With every breath and morsel of food, He is with you, and takes care of you.
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਜਪੀਐ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਵਡੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
sadhaa sadhaa japeeaai so preetam vaddee jis vaddiaaiee he ||3||
Forever and ever, meditate on that Beloved; Great is His glorious greatness! ||3||
ਸੁਲਤਾਨ ਖਾਨ ਕਰੇ ਖਿਨ ਕੀਰੇ ॥
sulataan khaan kare khin keere ||
The sultans and nobles are reduced to dust in an instant.
ਗਰੀਬ ਨਿਵਾਜਿ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੀਰੇ ॥
gareeb nivaaj kare prabh meere ||
God cherishes the poor, and makes them into rulers.
ਗਰਬ ਨਿਵਾਰਣ ਸਰਬ ਸਧਾਰਣ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
garab nivaaran sarab sadhaaran kichh keemat kahee na jaiee he ||4||
He is the Destroyer of egotistical pride, the Support of all. His value cannot be estimated. ||4||
ਸੋ ਪਤਿਵੰਤਾ ਸੋ ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ॥
so pativa(n)taa so dhanava(n)taa ||
He alone is honorable, and he alone is wealthy,
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ ॥
jis man vasiaa har bhagava(n)taa ||
within whose mind the Lord God abides.
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਬੰਧਪ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਨਿ ਇਹ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
maat pitaa sut ba(n)dhap bhaiee jin ieh sirasaT upaiee he ||5||
He alone is my mother, father, child, relative and sibling, who created this Universe. ||5||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਏ ਸਰਣਾ ਭਉ ਨਹੀ ਕਰਣਾ ॥
prabh aae saranaa bhau nahee karanaa ||
I have come to God's Sanctuary, and so I fear nothing.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਿਹਚਉ ਹੈ ਤਰਣਾ ॥
saadhasa(n)gat nihachau hai taranaa ||
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I am sure to be saved.
ਮਨ ਬਚ ਕਰਮ ਅਰਾਧੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਦੇ ਸਜਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
man bach karam araadhe karataa tis naahee kadhe sajaiee he ||6||
One who adores the Creator in thought, word and deed, shall never be punished. ||6||
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਵਿਆ ॥
gun nidhaan man tan meh raviaa ||
One whose mind and body are permeated with the Lord, the treasure of virtue,
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਕੀ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਭਵਿਆ ॥
janam maran kee jon na bhaviaa ||
does not wander in birth, death and reincarnation.
ਦੂਖ ਬਿਨਾਸ ਕੀਆ ਸੁਖਿ ਡੇਰਾ ਜਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਰਹੇ ਆਘਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
dhookh binaas keeaa sukh dderaa jaa tirapat rahe aaghaiee he ||7||
Pain vanishes and peace prevails, when one is satisfied and fulfilled. ||7||
ਮੀਤੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
meet hamaaraa soiee suaamee ||
My Lord and Master is my best friend.
