ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਨਾਸਹਿ ॥
gur simarat sabh kilavikh naaseh ||
Meditating in remembrance on the Guru, all the sins are erased.
ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਜਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਫਾਸਹਿ ॥
gur simarat jam sa(n)g na faaseh ||
Meditating in remembrance on the Guru, one is not strangled by the noose of Death.
ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਾਟੇ ਅਪਮਾਨਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
gur simarat man niramal hovai gur kaaTe apamaanaa he ||2||
Meditating in remembrance on the Guru, the mind becomes immaculate; the Guru eliminates egotistical pride. ||2||
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਨਰਕਿ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥
gur kaa sevak narak na jaae ||
The Guru's servant is not consigned to hell.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
gur kaa sevak paarabraham dhiaae ||
The Guru's servant meditates on the Supreme Lord God.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਦਾ ਨਿਤ ਜੀਅ ਦਾਨਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
gur kaa sevak saadhasa(n)g paae gur karadhaa nit jeea dhaanaa he ||3||
The Guru's servant joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; the Guru ever gives the life of the soul. ||3||
ਗੁਰ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਸੁਣੀਐ ॥
gur dhuaarai har keeratan suneeaai ||
At the Gurdwara, the Guru's Gate, the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises are sung.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਭਣੀਐ ॥
satigur bheT har jas mukh bhaneeaai ||
Meeting with the True Guru, one chants the Lord's Praises.
ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਮਿਟਾਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਦੇਵੈ ਮਾਨਾਂ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
kal kales miTaae satigur har dharageh dhevai maanaa(n) he ||4||
The True Guru eradicates sorrow and suffering, and bestows honor in the Court of the Lord. ||4||
ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
agam agochar guroo dhikhaiaa ||
The Guru has revealed the inaccessible and unfathomable Lord.
ਭੂਲਾ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
bhoolaa maarag satigur paiaa ||
The True Guru returns to the Path, those who have wandered away.
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਭਗਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਰ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੑਾਇਆ ਗਿਆਨਾਂ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
gur sevak kau bighan na bhagatee har poor dhiraR(h)aiaa giaanaa(n) he ||5||
No obstacles stand in the way of devotion to the Lord, for one who serves the Guru. The Guru implants perfect spiritual wisdom. ||5||
ਗੁਰਿ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਇਆ ਸਭਨੀ ਠਾਂਈ ॥
gur dhirasaTaiaa sabhanee Thaa(n)iee ||
The Guru has revealed the Lord everywhere.
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਗੋਸਾਈ ॥
jal thal poor rahiaa gosaiee ||
The Lord of the Universe is permeating and pervading the water and the land.
ਊਚ ਊਨ ਸਭ ਏਕ ਸਮਾਨਾਂ ਮਨਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਨਾ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
uooch uoon sabh ek samaanaa(n) man laagaa sahaj dhiaanaa he ||6||
The high and the low are all the same to Him. Focus your mind's meditation intuitively on Him. ||6||
ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸਭ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
gur miliaai sabh tirasan bujhaiee ||
Meeting with the Guru, all thirst is quenched.
ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਨਹ ਜੋਹੈ ਮਾਈ ॥
gur miliaai neh johai maiee ||
Meeting with the Guru, one is not watched by Maya.
ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਦੀਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀ ਪਾਨਾਂ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
sat sa(n)tokh dheeaa gur poorai naam a(n)mrit pee paanaa(n) he ||7||
The Perfect Guru bestows truth and contentment; I drink in the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||7||
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
gur kee baanee sabh maeh samaanee ||
The Word of the Guru's Bani is contained in all.
ਆਪਿ ਸੁਣੀ ਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥
aap sunee tai aap vakhaanee ||
He Himself hears it, and He Himself repeats it.
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਪੀ ਤੇਈ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਸਤ੍ਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਥਾਨਾਂ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
jin jin japee teiee sabh nisatre tin paiaa nihachal thaanaa(n) he ||8||
Those who meditate on it, are all emancipated; they attain the eternal and unchanging home. ||8||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
satigur kee mahimaa satigur jaanai ||
The Glory of the True Guru is known only to the True Guru.
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਆਪਣ ਭਾਣੈ ॥
jo kichh kare su aapan bhaanai ||
Whatever He does, is according to the Pleasure of His Will.
ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰਿ ਜਾਚਹਿ ਜਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਨਾਂ ਹੇ ॥੯॥੧॥੪॥
saadhoo dhoor jaacheh jan tere naanak sadh kurabaanaa(n) he ||9||1||4||
Your humble servants beg for the dust of the feet of the Holy; Nanak is forever a sacrifice to You. ||9||1||4||
ਮਾਰੂ ਸੋਲਹੇ ਮਹਲਾ ੫

Maaroo, Solahas, Fifth Mehla:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaadh ||
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਆਦਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਾ ॥
aadh nira(n)jan prabh nira(n)kaaraa ||
The Primal, Immaculate Lord God is formless.
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰਾਰਾ ॥
sabh meh varatai aap niraaraa ||
The Detached Lord is Himself prevailing in all.
ਵਰਨੁ ਜਾਤਿ ਚਿਹਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਸਭ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧॥
varan jaat chihan nahee koiee sabh hukame sirasaT upaidhaa ||1||
He has no race or social class, no identifying mark. By the Hukam of His Will, He created the entire universe. ||1||
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੋਨਿ ਸਬਾਈ ॥
lakh chauraaseeh jon sabaiee ||
Out of all the 8.4 million species of beings,
ਮਾਣਸ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਦੀਈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
maanas kau prabh dheeiee vaddiaaiee ||
God blessed mankind with glory.
ਇਸੁ ਪਉੜੀ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਨਰੁ ਚੂਕੈ ਸੋ ਆਇ ਜਾਇ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੨॥
eis pauRee te jo nar chookai so aai jai dhukh paidhaa ||2||
That human who misses this chance, shall suffer the pains of coming and going in reincarnation. ||2||
ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਿਆ ਕਹੀਐ ॥
keetaa hovai tis kiaa kaheeaai ||
What should I say, to one who has been created.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਲਹੀਐ ॥
gurmukh naam padhaarath laheeaai ||
The Gurmukh receives the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ਸੋਈ ਭੂਲੈ ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਇਦਾ ॥੩॥
jis aap bhulaae soiee bhoolai so boojhai jiseh bujhaidhaa ||3||
He alone is confused, whom the Lord Himself confuses. He alone understands, whom the Lord inspires to understand. ||3||
ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਕਾ ਨਗਰੁ ਇਹੁ ਕੀਆ ॥
harakh sog kaa nagar ih keeaa ||
This body has been made the village of joy and sorrow.
ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣੀਆ ॥
se ubare jo satigur saraneeaa ||
They alone are emancipated, who seek the Sanctuary of the True Guru.
ਤ੍ਰਿਹਾ ਗੁਣਾ ਤੇ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰਾਰਾ ਸੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੪॥
tirahaa gunaa te rahai niraaraa so gurmukh sobhaa paidhaa ||4||
One who remains untouched by the three qualities, the three gunas - such a Gurmukh is blessed with glory. ||4||
ਅਨਿਕ ਕਰਮ ਕੀਏ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ ॥ ਜੋ ਕੀਜੈ ਸੋ ਬੰਧਨੁ ਪੈਰੇ ॥
anik karam ke'ee bahutere || jo keejai so ba(n)dhan paire ||
You can do anything, but whatever you do, only serves to tie your feet.
ਕੁਰੁਤਾ ਬੀਜੁ ਬੀਜੇ ਨਹੀ ਜੰਮੈ ਸਭੁ ਲਾਹਾ ਮੂਲੁ ਗਵਾਇਦਾ ॥੫॥
kurutaa beej beeje nahee ja(n)mai sabh laahaa mool gavaidhaa ||5||
The seed which is planted out of season does not sprout, and all one's capital and profits are lost. ||5||
ਕਲਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਪਰਧਾਨਾ ॥
kalajug meh keeratan paradhaanaa ||
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises are most sublime and exalted.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਲਾਇ ਧਿਆਨਾ ॥
gurmukh japeeaai lai dhiaanaa ||
Become Gurmukh, chant and focus your meditation.
