ਮਧੁਸੂਦਨੁ ਜਪੀਐ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
madhusoodhan japeeaai ur dhaar ||
Enshrine Him in your heart, and meditate on the Lord.
ਦੇਹੀ ਨਗਰਿ ਤਸਕਰ ਪੰਚ ਧਾਤੂ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਢੇ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dhehee nagar tasakar pa(n)ch dhaatoo gur sabadhee har kaadde maar ||1|| rahaau ||
The five plundering thieves are in the body-village; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the Lord has beaten them and driven them out. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਨ ਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਾਰਜ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥
jin kaa har setee man maaniaa tin kaaraj har aap savaar ||
Those whose minds are satisfied with the Lord - the Lord Himself resolves their affairs.
ਤਿਨ ਚੂਕੀ ਮੁਹਤਾਜੀ ਲੋਕਨ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
tin chookee muhataajee lokan kee har a(n)geekaar keeaa karataar ||2||
Their subservience and their dependence on other people is ended; the Creator Lord is on their side. ||2||
ਮਤਾ ਮਸੂਰਤਿ ਤਾਂ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਜੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ॥
mataa masoorat taa(n) kichh keejai je kichh hovai har baahar ||
If something were beyond the realm of the Lord's Power, only then would we have recourse to consult someone else.
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੋਈ ਭਲ ਹੋਸੀ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
jo kichh karai soiee bhal hosee har dhiaavahu anadhin naam muraar ||3||
Whatever the Lord does is good. Meditate on the Name of the Lord, night and day. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੇ ਓਹੁ ਪੂਛਿ ਨ ਕਿਸੈ ਕਰੇ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
har jo kichh kare su aape aape oh poochh na kisai kare beechaar ||
Whatever the Lord does, He does by Himself. He does not ask or consult anyone else.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਜਿਨਿ ਮੇਲਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੧॥੫॥
naanak so prabh sadhaa dhiaaieeaai jin meliaa satigur kirapaa dhaar ||4||1||5||
O Nanak, meditate forever on God; granting His Grace, He unites us with the True Guru. ||4||1||5||
ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Bhairao, Fourth Mehla:
ਤੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਿਨ ਜਪਿਆ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥
te saadhoo har melahu suaamee jin japiaa gat hoi hamaaree ||
O my Lord and Master, please unite me with the Holy people; meditating on You, I am saved.
ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਦਰਸੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਮਨੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
tin kaa dharas dhekh man bigasai khin khin tin kau hau balihaaree ||1||
Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of their Darshan, my mind blossoms forth. Each and every moment, I am a sacrifice to them. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥
har hiradhai jap naam muraaree ||
Meditate within your heart on the Name of the Lord.
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਜਗਤ ਪਿਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਮ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸ ਕੀਜੈ ਪਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kirapaa kirapaa kar jagat pit suaamee ham dhaasan dhaas keejai panihaaree ||1|| rahaau ||
Show Mercy, Mercy to me, O Father of the World, O my Lord and Master; make me the water-carrier of the slave of Your slaves. ||1||Pause||
ਤਿਨ ਮਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਤਿਨ ਪਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਜਿਨ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਿਆ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥
tin mat uootam tin pat uootam jin hiradhai vasiaa banavaaree ||
Their intellect is sublime and exalted, and so is their honor; the Lord, the Lord of the forest, abides within their hearts.
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਿਨ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
tin kee sevaa lai har suaamee tin simarat gat hoi hamaaree ||2||
O my Lord and Master, please link me to the service of those who meditate in remembrance on You, and are saved. ||2||
ਜਿਨ ਐਸਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਧੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਕਾਢੇ ਮਾਰੀ ॥
jin aaisaa satigur saadh na paiaa te har dharageh kaadde maaree ||
Those who do not find such a Holy True Guru are beaten, and driven out of the Court of the Lord.
ਤੇ ਨਰ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਸੋਭ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਨਕ ਕਾਟੇ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
te nar ni(n)dhak sobh na paaveh tin nak kaaTe sirajanahaaree ||3||
These slanderous people have no honor or reputation; their noses are cut by the Creator Lord. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਲਾਵੈ ਆਪੇ ਬੋਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਨਿਰਾਹਾਰੀ ॥
har aap bulaavai aape bolai har aap nira(n)jan nira(n)kaar niraahaaree ||
The Lord Himself speaks, and the Lord Himself inspires all to speak; He is Immaculate and Formless, and needs no sustenance.
ਹਰਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂ ਮੇਲਹਿ ਸੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਮਿਲਸੀ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਆ ਏਹਿ ਜੰਤ ਵਿਚਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੨॥੬॥
har jis too meleh so tudh milasee jan naanak kiaa eh ja(n)t vichaaree ||4||2||6||
O Lord, he alone meets You, whom You cause to meet. Says servant Nanak, I am a wretched creature. What can I do? ||4||2||6||
ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Bhairao, Fourth Mehla:
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਨਣੇ ॥
satasa(n)gat saiee har teree jit har keerat har sunane ||
That is Your True Congregation, Lord, where the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises are heard.
ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਨਾ ਤਿਨ ਹਮ ਸ੍ਰੇਵਹ ਨਿਤ ਚਰਣੇ ॥੧॥
jin har naam suniaa man bheenaa tin ham sreveh nit charane ||1||
The minds of those who listen to the Lord's Name are drenched with bliss; I worship their feet continually. ||1||
ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਤਰਣੇ ॥
jagajeevan har dhiaai tarane ||
Meditating on the Lord, the Life of the World, the mortals cross over.
ਅਨੇਕ ਅਸੰਖ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਨ ਜਾਹੀ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਇਤੁ ਗਨਣੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
anek asa(n)kh naam har tere na jaahee jihavaa it ganane ||1|| rahaau ||
Your Names are so many, they are countless, O Lord. This tongue of mine cannot even count them. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਲੇ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਣੇ ॥
gursikh har bolahu har gaavahu le gurmat har japane ||
O Gursikhs, chant the Lord's Name, and sing the Praises of the Lord. Take the Guru's Teachings, and meditate on the Lord.
ਜੋ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਸੁਣੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੇਰਾ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖ ਘਣੇ ॥੨॥
jo upadhes sune gur keraa so jan paavai har sukh ghane ||2||
Whoever listens to the Guru's Teachings - that humble being receives countless comforts and pleasures from the Lord. ||2||
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਵੰਸੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਮਾਤਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨ ਜਣੇ ॥
dha(n)nu su va(n)s dha(n)nu su pitaa dha(n)nu su maataa jin jan jane ||
Blessed is the ancestry, blessed is the father, and blessed is that mother who gave birth to this humble servant.
ਜਿਨ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇ ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਬਣੇ ॥੩॥
jin saas giraas dhiaaiaa meraa har har se saachee dharageh har jan bane ||3||
Those who meditate on my Lord, Har, Har, with every breath and morsel of food - those humble servants of the Lord look beautiful in the True Court of the Lord. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਰਣੇ ॥
har har agam naam har tere vich bhagataa har dharane ||
O Lord, Har, Har, Your Names are profound and infinite; Your devotees cherish them deep within.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਵਣੇ ॥੪॥੩॥੭॥
naanak jan paiaa mat gurmat jap har har paar pavane ||4||3||7||
Servant Nanak has obained the wisdom of the Guru's Teachings; meditating on the Lord, Har, Har, he crosses over to the other side. ||4||3||7||
