ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਭ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਛਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
naam binaa sabh dhuneeaa chhaar ||1||
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the whole world is just ashes. ||1||
ਅਚਰਜੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਦਮ ਸਲਾਹ ॥
acharaj teree kudharat tere kadham salaeh ||
Your Creative Power is marvellous, and Your Lotus Feet are admirable.
ਗਨੀਵ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਚੇ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ॥੨॥
ganeev teree sifat sache paatisaeh ||2||
Your Praise is priceless, O True King. ||2||
ਨੀਧਰਿਆ ਧਰ ਪਨਹ ਖੁਦਾਇ ॥
needhariaa dhar paneh khudhai ||
God is the Support of the unsupported.
ਗਰੀਬ ਨਿਵਾਜੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੩॥
gareeb nivaaj dhin rain dhiaai ||3||
Meditate day and night on the Cherisher of the meek and humble. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਖੁਦਿ ਖਸਮ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ॥
naanak kau khudh khasam miharavaan ||
God has been merciful to Nanak.
ਅਲਹੁ ਨ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਦਿਲ ਜੀਅ ਪਰਾਨ ॥੪॥੧੦॥
alahu na visarai dhil jeea paraan ||4||10||
May I never forget God; He is my heart, my soul, my breath of life. ||4||10||

ਸਾਚ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਹਹੁ ॥
saach padhaarath gurmukh lahahu ||
As Gurmukh, obtain the true wealth.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਸਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਸਹਹੁ ॥੧॥
prabh kaa bhaanaa sat kar sahahu ||1||
Accept the Will of God as True. ||1||
ਜੀਵਤ ਜੀਵਤ ਜੀਵਤ ਰਹਹੁ ॥
jeevat jeevat jeevat rahahu ||
Live, live, live forever.
ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ਨਿਤ ਉਠਿ ਪੀਵਹੁ ॥
raam rasain nit uTh peevahu ||
Rise early each day, and drink in the Nectar of the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਕਹਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har har har rasanaa kahahu ||1|| rahaau ||
With your tongue, chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har. ||1||Pause||
ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਇਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
kalijug meh ik naam udhaar ||
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the One Name alone shall save you.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੨॥੧੧॥
naanak bolai braham beechaar ||2||11||
Nanak speaks the wisdom of God. ||2||11||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਰਬ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ॥

Serving the True Guru, all fruits and rewards are obtained.
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਮਿਟਾਏ ॥੧॥
janam janam kee mail miTaae ||1||
The filth of so many lifetimes is washed away. ||1||
ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਉ ॥
patit paavan prabh tero naau ||
Your Name, God, is the Purifier of sinners.
ਪੂਰਬਿ ਕਰਮ ਲਿਖੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
poorab karam likhe gun gaau ||1|| rahaau ||
Because of the karma of my past deeds, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
saadhoo sa(n)g hovai udhaar ||
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I am saved.
ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਦੁਆਰ ॥੨॥
sobhaa paavai prabh kai dhuaar ||2||
I am blessed with honor in God's Court. ||2||
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਚਰਣ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੇਵਾ ॥
sarab kaliaan charan prabh sevaa ||
Serving at God's Feet, all comforts are obtained.
ਧੂਰਿ ਬਾਛਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਦੇਵਾ ॥੩॥
dhoor baachheh sabh sur nar dhevaa ||3||
All the angels and demi-gods long for the dust of the feet of such beings. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥
naanak paiaa naam nidhaan ||
Nanak has obtained the treasure of the Naam.
ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਉਧਰਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਜਹਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੧੨॥
har jap jap udhariaa sagal jahaan ||4||12||
Chanting and meditating on the Lord, the whole world is saved. ||4||12||

ਅਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਗਾਵੈ ॥
apane dhaas kau ka(n)Th lagaavai ||
God hugs His slave close in His Embrace.
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਉ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
ni(n)dhak kau agan meh paavai ||1||
He throws the slanderer into the fire. ||1||
ਪਾਪੀ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੇ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ॥
paapee te raakhe naarain ||
The Lord saves His servants from the sinners.
ਪਾਪੀ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਕਤਹੂ ਨਾਹੀ ਪਾਪੀ ਪਚਿਆ ਆਪ ਕਮਾਇਣ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paapee kee gat katahoo naahee paapee pachiaa aap kamain ||1|| rahaau ||
No one can save the sinner. The sinner is destroyed by his own actions. ||1||Pause||
ਦਾਸ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
dhaas raam jeeau laagee preet ||
The Lord's slave is in love with the Dear Lord.
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੀ ਹੋਈ ਬਿਪਰੀਤਿ ॥੨॥
ni(n)dhak kee hoiee bipareet ||2||
The slanderer loves something else. ||2||
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਅਪਣਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ॥
paarabraham apanaa biradh pragaTaiaa ||
The Supreme Lord God has revealed His Innate Nature.
ਦੋਖੀ ਅਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
dhokhee apanaa keetaa paiaa ||3||
The evil-doer obtains the fruits of his own actions. ||3||
ਆਇ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
aai na jaiee rahiaa samaiee ||
God does not come or go; He is All-pervading and permeating.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੩॥
naanak dhaas har kee saranaiee ||4||13||
Slave Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Lord. ||4||13||

ਸ੍ਰੀਧਰ ਮੋਹਨ ਸਗਲ ਉਪਾਵਨ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥
sreedhar mohan sagal upaavan nira(n)kaar sukhadhaataa ||
The Fascinating Lord, the Creator of all, the Formless Lord, is the Giver of Peace.
ਐਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਅਨ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਵਨ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਰਸ ਮਾਤਾ ॥੧॥
aaisaa prabh chhodd kareh an sevaa kavan bikhiaa ras maataa ||1||
You have abandoned this Lord, and you serve another. Why are you intoxicated with the pleasures of corruption? ||1||
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਗੋਵਿਦ ਭਾਜੁ ॥
re man mere too govidh bhaaj ||
O my mind, meditate on the Lord of the Universe.
ਅਵਰ ਉਪਾਵ ਸਗਲ ਮੈ ਦੇਖੇ ਜੋ ਚਿਤਵੀਐ ਤਿਤੁ ਬਿਗਰਸਿ ਕਾਜੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
avar upaav sagal mai dhekhe jo chitaveeaai tit bigaras kaaj ||1|| rahaau ||
I have seen all other sorts of efforts; whatever you can think of, will only bring failure. ||1||Pause||
ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਦਾਸੀ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧ ਅਗਿਆਨਾ ॥
Thaakur chhodd dhaasee kau simareh manmukh a(n)dh agiaanaa ||
The blind, ignorant, self-willed manmukhs forsake their Lord and Master, and dwell on His slave Maya.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਨਿੰਦਹਿ ਨਿਗੁਰੇ ਪਸੂ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥੨॥
har kee bhagat kareh tin ni(n)dheh nigure pasoo samaanaa ||2||
They slander those who worship their Lord; they are like beasts, without a Guru. ||2||
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਸਾਕਤ ਕਹਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
jeeau pi(n)dd tan dhan sabh prabh kaa saakat kahate meraa ||
Soul, life, body and wealth all belong to God, but the faithless cynics claim that they own them.
