ਭੈ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਗਏ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
bhai bhram binas ge khin maeh ||
Their fears and doubts are dispelled in an instant.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥
paarabraham vasiaa man aai ||1||
The Supreme Lord God comes to dwell in their minds. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਸੰਤ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਇ ॥
raam raam sa(n)t sadhaa sahai ||
The Lord is forever the Help and Support of the Saints.
ਘਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਾਲੇ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭ ਠਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ghar baahar naale paramesar rav rahiaa pooran sabh Thai ||1|| rahaau ||
Inside the home of the heart, and outside as well, the Transcendent Lord is always with us, permeating and pervading all places. ||1||Pause||
ਧਨੁ ਮਾਲੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥
dhan maal joban jugat gopaal ||
The Lord of the World is my wealth, property, youth and ways and means.
ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਨਿਤ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥
jeea praan nit sukh pratipaal ||
He continually cherishes and brings peace to my soul and breath of life.
ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਦੇ ਰਾਖੈ ਹਾਥ ॥
apane dhaas kau dhe raakhai haath ||
He reaches out with His Hand and saves His slave.
ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਛੋਡੈ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸਾਥ ॥੨॥
nimakh na chhoddai sadh hee saath ||2||
He does not abandon us, even for an instant; He is always with us. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਸਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
har saa preetam avar na koi ||
There is no other Beloved like the Lord.
ਸਾਰਿ ਸਮੑਾਲੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
saar sam(h)aale saachaa soi ||
The True Lord takes care of all.
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਬੰਧੁ ਨਰਾਇਣੁ ॥
maat pitaa sut ba(n)dh narain ||
The Lord is our Mother, Father, Son and Relation.
ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਭਗਤ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਣੁ ॥੩॥
aadh jugaadh bhagat gun gain ||3||
Since the beginning of time, and throughout the ages, His devotees sing His Glorious Praises. ||3||
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਧਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਮਨਿ ਜੋਰੁ ॥
tis kee dhar prabh kaa man jor ||
My mind is filled with the Support and the Power of the Lord.
ਏਕ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀ ਹੋਰੁ ॥
ek binaa dhoojaa nahee hor ||
Without the Lord, there is no other at all.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਪੁਰਖਾਰਥੁ ॥
naanak kai man ih purakhaarath ||
Nanak's mind is encouraged by this hope,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਆਰਥੁ ॥੪॥੩੮॥੫੧॥
prabhoo hamaaraa saare suaarath ||4||38||51||
that God will accomplish my objectives in life. ||4||38||51||

ਭੈ ਕਉ ਭਉ ਪੜਿਆ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ॥
bhai kau bhau paRiaa simarat har naam ||
Fear itself becomes afraid, when the mortal remembers the Lord's Name in meditation.
ਸਗਲ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਮਿਟੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਕੀ ਦਾਸ ਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sagal biaadh miTee tirahu gun kee dhaas ke hoe pooran kaam ||1|| rahaau ||
All the diseases of the three gunas - the three qualities - are cured, and tasks of the Lord's slaves are perfectly accomplished. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪੂਰਨ ਧਾਮ ॥
har ke lok sadhaa gun gaaveh tin kau miliaa pooran dhaam ||
The people of the Lord always sing His Glorious Praises; they attain His Perfect Mansion.
ਜਨ ਕਾ ਦਰਸੁ ਬਾਂਛੈ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤੀ ਹੋਇ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਜਾਮ ॥੧॥
jan kaa dharas baa(n)chhai dhin raatee hoi puneet dharam rai jaam ||1||
Even the Righteous Judge of Dharma and the Messenger of Death yearn, day and night, to be sanctified by the Blessed Vision of the Lord's humble servant. ||1||
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮਦ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ॥
kaam karodh lobh madh ni(n)dhaa saadhasa(n)g miTiaa abhimaan ||
Sexual desire, anger, intoxication, egotism, slander and egotistical pride are eradicted in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਐਸੇ ਸੰਤ ਭੇਟਹਿ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ॥੨॥੩੯॥੫੨॥
aaise sa(n)t bheTeh vaddabhaagee naanak tin kai sadh kurabaan ||2||39||52||
By great good fortune, such Saints are met. Nanak is forever a sacrifice to them. ||2||39||52||
ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Bhairao, Fifth Mehla:
ਪੰਚ ਮਜਮੀ ਜੋ ਪੰਚਨ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
pa(n)ch majamee jo pa(n)chan raakhai ||
One who harbors the five thieves, becomes the embodiment of these five.
ਮਿਥਿਆ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਿਤ ਉਠਿ ਭਾਖੈ ॥
mithiaa rasanaa nit uTh bhaakhai ||
He gets up each day and tells lies.
ਚਕ੍ਰ ਬਣਾਇ ਕਰੈ ਪਾਖੰਡ ॥
chakar banai karai paakha(n)dd ||
He applies ceremonial religious marks to his body, but practices hypocrisy.
ਝੁਰਿ ਝੁਰਿ ਪਚੈ ਜੈਸੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਅ ਰੰਡ ॥੧॥
jhur jhur pachai jaise tria ra(n)dd ||1||
He wastes away in sadness and pain, like a lonely widow. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਭ ਝੂਠੁ ॥
har ke naam binaa sabh jhooTh ||
Without the Name of the Lord, everything is false.
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਮੂਠੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bin gur poore mukat na paieeaai saachee dharageh saakat mooTh ||1|| rahaau ||
Without the Perfect Guru, liberation is not obtained. In the Court of the True Lord, the faithless cynic is plundered. ||1||Pause||
ਸੋਈ ਕੁਚੀਲੁ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
soiee kucheel kudharat nahee jaanai ||
One who does not know the Lord's Creative Power is polluted.
ਲੀਪਿਐ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਸੁਚਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
leepiaai thai na such har maanai ||
Ritualistically plastering one's kitchen square does not make it pure in the Eyes of the Lord.
ਅੰਤਰੁ ਮੈਲਾ ਬਾਹਰੁ ਨਿਤ ਧੋਵੈ ॥
a(n)tar mailaa baahar nit dhovai ||
If a person is polluted within, he may wash himself everyday on the outside,
ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਵੈ ॥੨॥
saachee dharageh apanee pat khovai ||2||
but in the Court of the True Lord, he forfeits his honor. ||2||
ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਕਰੈ ਉਪਾਉ ॥
maiaa kaaran karai upaau ||
He works for the sake of Maya,
ਕਬਹਿ ਨ ਘਾਲੈ ਸੀਧਾ ਪਾਉ ॥
kabeh na ghaalai seedhaa paau ||
but he never places his feet on the right path.
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਚੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਣੈ ॥
jin keeaa tis cheet na aanai ||
He never even remembers the One who created him.
ਕੂੜੀ ਕੂੜੀ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥੩॥
kooRee kooRee mukhahu vakhaanai ||3||
He speaks falsehood, only falsehood, with his mouth. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥
jis no karam kare karataar ||
That person, unto whom the Creator Lord shows Mercy,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹੋਇ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥
saadhasa(n)g hoi tis biauhaar ||
deals with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗਾ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
har naam bhagat siau laagaa ra(n)g ||
One who lovingly worships the Lord's Name,
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਨਹੀ ਭੰਗੁ ॥੪॥੪੦॥੫੩॥
kahu naanak tis jan nahee bha(n)g ||4||40||53||
says Nanak - no obstacles ever block his way. ||4||40||53||

ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਉ ਫਿਟਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥

The entire universe curses the slanderer.
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਾ ਝੂਠਾ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥
ni(n)dhak kaa jhooThaa biauhaar ||
False are the dealings of the slanderer.
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਾ ਮੈਲਾ ਆਚਾਰੁ ॥
ni(n)dhak kaa mailaa aachaar ||
The slanderer's lifestyle is filthy and polluted.
ਦਾਸ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਉ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
dhaas apune kau raakhanahaar ||1||
The Lord is the Saving Grace and the Protector of His slave. ||1||
ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਮੁਆ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
ni(n)dhak muaa ni(n)dhak kai naal ||
The slanderer dies with the rest of the slanderers.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸਰਿ ਜਨ ਰਾਖੇ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੈ ਸਿਰਿ ਕੜਕਿਓ ਕਾਲੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paarabraham paramesar jan raakhe ni(n)dhak kai sir kaRakio kaal ||1|| rahaau ||
The Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord, protects and saves His humble servant. Death roars and thunders over the head of the slanderer. ||1||Pause||
