ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar sat naam karataa purakh nirabhau niravair akaal moorat ajoonee saibha(n) gur prasaadh ||

ਮਾਹਾ ਮਾਹ ਮੁਮਾਰਖੀ ਚੜਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਬਸੰਤੁ ॥
maahaa maeh mumaarakhee chaRiaa sadhaa basa(n)t ||
Among the months, blessed is this month, when spring always comes.
ਪਰਫੜੁ ਚਿਤ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਸੋਇ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ॥੧॥
parafaR chit samaal soi sadhaa sadhaa gobi(n)dh ||1||
Blossom forth, O my consciousness, contemplating the Lord of the Universe, forever and ever. ||1||
ਭੋਲਿਆ ਹਉਮੈ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ॥
bholiaa haumai surat visaar ||
O ignorant one, forget your egotistical intellect.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ਮਨ ਗੁਣ ਵਿਚਿ ਗੁਣੁ ਲੈ ਸਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
haumai maar beechaar man gun vich gun lai saar ||1|| rahaau ||
Subdue your ego, and contemplate Him in your mind; gather in the virtues of the Sublime, Virtuous Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰਮ ਪੇਡੁ ਸਾਖਾ ਹਰੀ ਧਰਮੁ ਫੁਲੁ ਫਲੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
karam pedd saakhaa haree dharam ful fal giaan ||
Karma is the tree, the Lord's Name the branches, Dharmic faith the flowers, and spiritual wisdom the fruit.
ਪਤ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਛਾਵ ਘਣੀ ਚੂਕਾ ਮਨ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥੨॥
pat paraapat chhaav ghanee chookaa man abhimaan ||2||
Realization of the Lord are the leaves, and eradication of the pride of the mind is the shade. ||2||
ਅਖੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕੰਨੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੁਖਿ ਆਖਣੁ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
akhee kudharat ka(n)nee baanee mukh aakhan sach naam ||
Whoever sees the Lord's Creative Power with his eyes, and hears the Guru's Bani with his ears, and utters the True Name with his mouth,
ਪਤਿ ਕਾ ਧਨੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਹੋਆ ਲਾਗਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥੩॥
pat kaa dhan pooraa hoaa laagaa sahaj dhiaan ||3||
attains the perfect wealth of honor, and intuitively focuses his meditation on the Lord. ||3||
ਮਾਹਾ ਰੁਤੀ ਆਵਣਾ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
maahaa rutee aavanaa vekhahu karam kamai ||
The months and the seasons come; see, and do your deeds.
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰੇ ਨ ਸੂਕਹੀ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੧॥
naanak hare na sookahee j gurmukh rahe samai ||4||1||
O Nanak, those Gurmukhs who remain merged in the Lord do not wither away; they remain green forever. ||4||1||

ਰੁਤਿ ਆਈਲੇ ਸਰਸ ਬਸੰਤ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
rut aaieele saras basa(n)t maeh ||
The season of spring, so delightful, has come.
ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਰਵਹਿ ਸਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਚਾਇ ॥
ra(n)g raate raveh s terai chai ||
Those who are imbued with love for You, O Lord, chant Your Name with joy.
ਕਿਸੁ ਪੂਜ ਚੜਾਵਉ ਲਗਉ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥
kis pooj chaRaavau lagau pai ||1||
Whom else should I worship? At whose feet should I bow? ||1||
ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਕਹਉ ਰਾਇ ॥
teraa dhaasan dhaasaa kahau rai ||
I am the slave of Your slaves, O my Sovereign Lord King.
ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਨ ਮਿਲੈ ਕਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jagajeevan jugat na milai kai ||1|| rahaau ||
O Life of the Universe, there is no other way to meet You. ||1||Pause||
ਤੇਰੀ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਏਕਾ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਰੂਪ ॥
teree moorat ekaa bahut roop ||
You have only One Form, and yet You have countless forms.
ਕਿਸੁ ਪੂਜ ਚੜਾਵਉ ਦੇਉ ਧੂਪ ॥
kis pooj chaRaavau dheau dhoop ||
Which one should I worship? Before which one should I burn incense?
ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਹਾ ਪਾਇ ॥
teraa a(n)t na paiaa kahaa pai ||
Your limits cannot be found. How can anyone find them?
ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਕਹਉ ਰਾਇ ॥੨॥
teraa dhaasan dhaasaa kahau rai ||2||
I am the slave of Your slaves, O my Sovereign Lord King. ||2||
ਤੇਰੇ ਸਠਿ ਸੰਬਤ ਸਭਿ ਤੀਰਥਾ ॥
tere saTh sa(n)bat sabh teerathaa ||
The cycles of years and the places of pilgrimage are Yours, O Lord.
ਤੇਰਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰਾ ॥
teraa sach naam paramesaraa ||
Your Name is True, O Transcendent Lord God.
ਤੇਰੀ ਗਤਿ ਅਵਿਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣੀਐ ॥
teree gat avigat nahee jaaneeaai ||
Your State cannot be known, O Eternal, Unchanging Lord God.
ਅਣਜਾਣਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੀਐ ॥੩॥
anajaanat naam vakhaaneeaai ||3||
Although You are unknown, still we chant Your Name. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵੇਚਾਰਾ ਕਿਆ ਕਹੈ ॥
naanak vechaaraa kiaa kahai ||
What can poor Nanak say?
ਸਭੁ ਲੋਕੁ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਏਕਸੈ ॥
sabh lok salaahe ekasai ||
All people praise the One Lord.
ਸਿਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੋਕਾ ਪਾਵ ਹੈ ॥
sir naanak lokaa paav hai ||
Nanak places his head on the feet of such people.
ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਜਾਉ ਜੇਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਵ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥
balihaaree jaau jete tere naav hai ||4||2||
I am a sacrifice to Your Names, as many as there are, O Lord. ||4||2||
ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥

Basant, First Mehla:
ਸੁਇਨੇ ਕਾ ਚਉਕਾ ਕੰਚਨ ਕੁਆਰ ॥
suine kaa chaukaa ka(n)chan kuaar ||
The kitchen is golden, and the cooking pots are golden.
ਰੁਪੇ ਕੀਆ ਕਾਰਾ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਿਸਥਾਰੁ ॥
rupe keeaa kaaraa bahut bisathaar ||
The lines marking the cooking square are silver.
ਗੰਗਾ ਕਾ ਉਦਕੁ ਕਰੰਤੇ ਕੀ ਆਗਿ ॥
ga(n)gaa kaa udhak kara(n)te kee aag ||
The water is from the Ganges, and the firewood is sanctified.
ਗਰੁੜਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਦੁਧ ਸਿਉ ਗਾਡਿ ॥੧॥
garuRaa khaanaa dhudh siau gaadd ||1||
The food is soft rice, cooked in milk. ||1||
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਲੇਖੈ ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
re man lekhai kabahoo na pai ||
O my mind, these things are worthless,
