ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੀਤਿਆ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਜੂਐ ਹਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
janam padhaarath gurmukh jeetiaa bahur na jooaai haar ||1||
The Gurmukh is successful in this priceless human life; he shall not lose it in the gamble ever again. ||1||
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
aaTh pahar prabh ke gun gaaveh pooran sabadh beechaar ||
Twenty-four hours a day, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and contemplate the Perfect Word of the Shabad.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸੁ ਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਪੁਨਹ ਪੁਨਹ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਿ ॥੨॥੮੯॥੧੧੨॥
naanak dhaasan dhaas jan teraa puneh puneh namasakaar ||2||89||112||
Servant Nanak is the slave of Your slaves; over and over again, he bows in humble reverence to You. ||2||89||112||

Saarang, Fifth Mehla:
ਪੋਥੀ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਕਾ ਥਾਨੁ ॥
pothee paramesar kaa thaan ||
This Holy Book is the home of the Transcendent Lord God.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਪੂਰਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saadhasa(n)g gaaveh gun gobi(n)dh pooran braham giaan ||1|| rahaau ||
Whoever sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, has the perfect knowledge of God. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਸਗਲ ਮੁਨਿ ਲੋਚਹਿ ਬਿਰਲੇ ਲਾਗੈ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
saadhik sidh sagal mun locheh birale laagai dhiaan ||
The Siddhas and seekers and all the silent sages long for the Lord, but those who meditate on Him are rare.
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਕਾਮੁ ॥੧॥
jiseh kirapaal hoi meraa suaamee pooran taa ko kaam ||1||
That person, unto whom my Lord and Master is merciful - all his tasks are perfectly accomplished. ||1||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸੈ ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਾਨੈ ਸਗਲ ਜਹਾਨੁ ॥
jaa kai ridhai vasai bhai bha(n)jan tis jaanai sagal jahaan ||
One whose heart is filled with the Lord, the Destroyer of fear, knows the whole world.
ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਬਿਸਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਰਤੇ ਇਹੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮਾਂਗੈ ਦਾਨੁ ॥੨॥੯੦॥੧੧੩॥
khin pal bisar nahee mere karate ih naanak maa(n)gai dhaan ||2||90||113||
May I never forget You, even for an instant, O my Creator Lord; Nanak begs for this blessing. ||2||90||113||

ਵੂਠਾ ਸਰਬ ਥਾਈ ਮੇਹੁ ॥
vooThaa sarab thaiee meh ||
The rain has fallen everywhere.
ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਗਾਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਓ ਨੇਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
anadh ma(n)gal gaau har jas pooran pragaTio neh ||1|| rahaau ||
Singing the Lord's Praises with ecstasy and bliss, the Perfect Lord is revealed. ||1||Pause||
ਚਾਰਿ ਕੁੰਟ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਜਲ ਨਿਧਿ ਊਨ ਥਾਉ ਨ ਕੇਹੁ ॥
chaar ku(n)T dheh dhis jal nidh uoon thaau na keh ||
On all four sides and in the ten directions, the Lord is an ocean. There is no place where He does not exist.
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਪੂਰਨ ਜੀਅ ਦਾਨੁ ਸਭ ਦੇਹੁ ॥੧॥
kirapaa nidh gobi(n)dh pooran jeea dhaan sabh dheh ||1||
O Perfect Lord God, Ocean of Mercy, You bless all with the gift of the soul. ||1||
ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਤਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੇਹੁ ॥
sat sat har sat suaamee sat saadhasa(n)geh ||
True, True, True is my Lord and Master; True is the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਸਤਿ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਜਿਨ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਉਪਜੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਹ ਭਰਮੇਹੁ ॥੨॥੯੧॥੧੧੪॥
sat te jan jin parateet upajee naanak neh bharameh ||2||91||114||
True are those humble beings, within whom faith wells up; O Nanak, they are not deluded by doubt. ||2||91||114||

ਗੋਬਿਦ ਜੀਉ ਤੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰ ॥
gobidh jeeau too mere praan adhaar ||
O Dear Lord of the Universe, You are the Support of my breath of life.
ਸਾਜਨ ਮੀਤ ਸਹਾਈ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਤੂ ਮੇਰੋ ਪਰਵਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saajan meet sahaiee tum hee too mero paravaar ||1|| rahaau ||
You are my Best Friend and Companion, my Help and Support; You are my family. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਧਾਰਿਓ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਾਥੈ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥
kar masatak dhaario merai maathai saadhasa(n)g gun gaae ||
You placed Your Hand on my forehead; in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I sing Your Glorious Praises.
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ਰਸਕਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਧਿਆਏ ॥੧॥
tumaree kirapaa te sabh fal paae rasak raam naam dhiaae ||1||
By Your Grace, I have obtained all fruits and rewards; I meditate on the Lord's Name with delight. ||1||
ਅਬਿਚਲ ਨੀਵ ਧਰਾਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਕਬਹੂ ਡੋਲਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
abichal neev dharaiee satigur kabahoo ddolat naahee ||
The True Guru has laid the eternal foundation; it shall never be shaken.
ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਬ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਰਾ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਂਹੀ ॥੨॥੯੨॥੧੧੫॥
gur naanak jab bhe dhiaaraa sarab sukhaa nidh paa(n)hee ||2||92||115||
Guru Nanak has become merciful to me, and I have been blessed with the treasure of absolute peace. ||2||92||115||

ਨਿਬਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਸਚੁ ਖੇਪ ॥
nibahee naam kee sach khep ||
Only the true merchandise of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, stays with you.
ਲਾਭੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਨਿਧਿ ਧਨੁ ਬਿਖੈ ਮਾਹਿ ਅਲੇਪ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
laabh har gun gai nidh dhan bikhai maeh alep ||1|| rahaau ||
Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the treasure of wealth, and earn your profit; in the midst of corruption, remain untouched. ||1||Pause||
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਤੋਖੇ ਆਪਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
jeea ja(n)t sagal sa(n)tokhe aapanaa prabh dhiaai ||
All beings and creatures find contentment, meditating on their God.
ਰਤਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਪਾਰ ਜੀਤਿਓ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥
ratan janam apaar jeetio bahuR jon na pai ||1||
The priceless jewel of infinite worth, this human life, is won, and they are not consigned to reincarnation ever again. ||1||
ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਦਇਆਲ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਭਇਆ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
bhe kirapaal dhiaal gobidh bhiaa saadhoo sa(n)g ||
When the Lord of the Universe shows His kindness and compassion, the mortal finds the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy,
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਰਾਸਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਈ ਲਗਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਉ ਰੰਗੁ ॥੨॥੯੩॥੧੧੬॥
har charan raas naanak paiee lagaa prabh siau ra(n)g ||2||93||116||
Nanak has found the wealth of the Lotus Feet of the Lord; he is imbued with the Love of God. ||2||93||116||

ਮਾਈ ਰੀ ਪੇਖਿ ਰਹੀ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥
maiee ree pekh rahee bisamaadh ||
O mother, I am wonder-struck, gazing upon the Lord.
ਅਨਹਦ ਧੁਨੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹਿਓ ਅਚਰਜ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਵਾਦ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
anahadh dhunee meraa man mohio acharaj taa ke savaiaadh ||1|| rahaau ||
My mind is enticed by the unstruck celestial melody; its flavor is amazing! ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਬੰਧਪ ਹੈ ਸੋਈ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਅਹਿਲਾਦ ॥
maat pitaa ba(n)dhap hai soiee man har ko ahilaadh ||
He is my Mother, Father and Relative. My mind delights in the Lord.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਗਾਏ ਗੁਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਸਭੁ ਪਰਮਾਦ ॥੧॥
saadhasa(n)g gaae gun gobi(n)dh binasio sabh paramaadh ||1||
Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, all my illusions are dispelled. ||1||
ਡੋਰੀ ਲਪਟਿ ਰਹੀ ਚਰਨਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੈ ਸਗਲੇ ਖਾਦ ॥
ddoree lapaT rahee charaneh sa(n)g bhram bhai sagale khaadh ||
I am lovingly attached to His Lotus Feet; my doubt and fear are totally consumed.
ਏਕੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕੀਆ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਦ ॥੨॥੯੪॥੧੧੭॥
ek adhaar naanak jan keeaa bahur na jon bhramaadh ||2||94||117||
Servant Nanak has taken the Support of the One Lord. He shall not wander in reincarnation ever again. ||2||94||117||
