ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਚਰਨ ਲਾਗੇ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਤਿਆਗੇ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਲਬਧਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
sa(n)tan kai charan laage kaam karodh lobh tiaage gur gopaal bhe kirapaal labadh apanee paiee ||1||
Grasping hold of the Feet of the Saints, I have abandoned sexual desire, anger and greed. The Guru, the Lord of the World, has been kind to me, and I have realized my destiny. ||1||
ਬਿਨਸੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਅੰਧ ਟੂਟੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬੰਧ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਨਹ ਕੋਊ ਬੈਰਾਈ ॥
binase bhram moh a(n)dh TooTe maiaa ke ba(n)dh pooran sarabatr Thaakur neh kouoo bairaiee ||
My doubts and attachments have been dispelled, and the blinding bonds of Maya have been broken. My Lord and Master is pervading and permeating everywhere; no one is an enemy.
ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਭਏ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੋਖ ਗਏ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਚਰਨ ਲਾਗਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਈ ॥੨॥੩॥੧੩੨॥
suaamee suprasa(n)n bhe janam maran dhokh ge sa(n)tan kai charan laag naanak gun gaiee ||2||3||132||
My Lord and Master is totally satisfied with me; He has rid me of the pains of death and birth. Grasping hold of the Feet of the Saints, Nanak sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||3||132||

Saarang, Fifth Mehla:
ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ਮਨਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har hare har mukhahu bol har hare man dhaare ||1|| rahaau ||
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har; enshrine the Lord, Har, Har, within your mind. ||1||Pause||
ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਸੁਨਨ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਨ ਅਨਿਕ ਪਾਤਿਕ ਪੁਨਹਚਰਨ ॥
sravan sunan bhagat karan anik paatik punahacharan ||
Hear Him with your ears, and practice devotional worship - these are good deeds, which make up for past evils.
ਸਰਨ ਪਰਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਆਨ ਬਾਨਿ ਬਿਸਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
saran paran saadhoo aan baan bisaare ||1||
So seek the Sanctuary of the Holy, and forget all your other habits. ||1||.
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨੀਤ ਨੀਤਿ ਪਾਵਨਾ ਮਹਿ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਨੀਤ ॥
har charan preet neet neet paavanaa meh mahaa puneet ||
Love the Lord's Feet, continually and continuously - the most sacred and sanctified.
ਸੇਵਕ ਭੈ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰਨ ਕਲਿਮਲ ਦੋਖ ਜਾਰੇ ॥
sevak bhai dhoor karan kalimal dhokh jaare ||
Fear is taken away from the servant of the Lord, and the dirty sins and mistakes of the past are burnt away.
ਕਹਤ ਮੁਕਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਮੁਕਤ ਰਹਤ ਜਨਮ ਰਹਤੇ ॥
kahat mukat sunat mukat rahat janam rahate ||
Those who speak are liberated, and those who listen are liberated; those who keep the Rehit, the Code of Conduct, are not reincarnated again.
ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਸਾਰ ਭੂਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥੨॥੪॥੧੩੩॥
raam raam saar bhoot naanak tat beechaare ||2||4||133||
The Lord's Name is the most sublime essence; Nanak contemplates the nature of reality. ||2||4||133||

ਨਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਮਾਗੁ ਸੰਤ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਸਗਲ ਕਾਮੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naam bhagat maag sa(n)t tiaag sagal kaamee ||1|| rahaau ||
I beg for devotion to the Naam, the Name of the Lord; I have forsaken all other activities. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਗੁਨ ਗੋੁਬਿੰਦ ਸਦਾ ਗਾਇ ॥
preet lai har dhiaai gun guobi(n)dh sadhaa gai ||
Meditate lovingly on the Lord, and sing forever the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe.
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਨ ਬਾਂਛੁ ਦੈਨਹਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੧॥
har jan kee ren baa(n)chh dhainahaar suaamee ||1||
I long for the dust of the feet of the Lord's humble servant, O Great Giver, my Lord and Master. ||1||
ਸਰਬ ਕੁਸਲ ਸੁਖ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ਆਨਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਮ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਕਛੁ ਨਾਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
sarab kusal sukh bisraam aanadhaa aana(n)dh naam jam kee kachh naeh traas simar a(n)tarajaamee ||
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the ultimate ecstasy, bliss, happiness, peace and tranquility. The fear is death is dispelled by meditating in remembrance on the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.
ਏਕ ਸਰਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਚਰਨ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਗਲ ਤਾਪ ਹਰਨ ॥
ek saran gobi(n)dh charan sa(n)saar sagal taap haran ||
Only the Sanctuary of the Feet of the Lord of the Universe can destroy all the suffering of the world.
ਨਾਵ ਰੂਪ ਸਾਧਸੰਗ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਰਗਰਾਮੀ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੩੪॥
naav roop saadhasa(n)g naanak paaragaraamee ||2||5||134||
The Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, is the boat, O Nanak, to carry us across to the other side. ||2||5||134||

Saarang, Fifth Mehla:
ਗੁਨ ਲਾਲ ਗਾਵਉ ਗੁਰ ਦੇਖੇ ॥
gun laal gaavau gur dhekhe ||
Gazing upon my Guru, I sing the Praises of my Beloved Lord.
ਪੰਚਾ ਤੇ ਏਕੁ ਛੂਟਾ ਜਉ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਗ ਰਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
pa(n)chaa te ek chhooTaa jau saadhasa(n)g pag rau ||1|| rahaau ||
I escape from the five thieves, and I find the One, when I join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||Pause||
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਉ ਕਛੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਮਾਨੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਮੋਹਾ ॥
dhirasaTau kachh sa(n)g na jai maan tiaag mohaa ||
Nothing of the visible world shall go along with you; abandon your pride and attachment.
ਏਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸੋਹਾ ॥੧॥
ekai har preet lai mil saadhasa(n)g sohaa ||1||
Love the One Lord, and join the Saadh Sangat, and you shall be embellished and exalted. ||1||
ਪਾਇਓ ਹੈ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਸਗਲ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ॥
paio hai gun nidhaan sagal aas pooree ||
I have found the Lord, the Treasure of Excellence; all my hopes have been fulfilled.
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਅਨੰਦ ਭਏ ਗੁਰਿ ਬਿਖਮ ਗਾਰ੍ਹ ਤੋਰੀ ॥੨॥੬॥੧੩੫॥
naanak man ana(n)dh bhe gur bikham gaarh toree ||2||6||135||
Nanak's mind is in ecstasy; the Guru has shattered the impregnable fortress. ||2||6||135||
ਸਾਰਗ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Saarang, Fifth Mehla:
ਮਨਿ ਬਿਰਾਗੈਗੀ ॥ ਖੋਜਤੀ ਦਰਸਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man biraagaigee || khojatee dharasaar ||1|| rahaau ||
My mind is neutral and detached; I seek only the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਤਨ ਸੇਵਿ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਧਿਆਇਓ ॥
saadhoo sa(n)tan sev kai priau heearai dhiaaio ||
Serving the Holy Saints, I meditate on my Beloved within my heart.
ਆਨੰਦ ਰੂਪੀ ਪੇਖਿ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਵਉਗੀ ॥੧॥
aana(n)dh roopee pekh kai hau mahal paavaugee ||1||
Gazing upon the Embodiment of Ecstasy, I rise to the Mansion of His Presence. ||1||
ਕਾਮ ਕਰੀ ਸਭ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰਉਗੀ ॥
kaam karee sabh tiaag kai hau saran paraugee ||
I work for Him; I have forsaken everything else. I seek only His Sanctuary.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਗਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਉ ਗੁਰ ਮਨਾਵਉਗੀ ॥੨॥੭॥੧੩੬॥
naanak suaamee gar mile hau gur manaavaugee ||2||7||136||
O Nanak, my Lord and Master hugs me close in His Embrace; the Guru is pleased and satisfied with me. ||2||7||136||
ਸਾਰਗ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Saarang, Fifth Mehla:
ਐਸੀ ਹੋਇ ਪਰੀ ॥
aaisee hoi paree ||
This is my condition.
ਜਾਨਤੇ ਦਇਆਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaanate dhiaar ||1|| rahaau ||
Only my Merciful Lord knows it. ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਤਰ ਪਿਤਰ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕੈ ਮਨੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਪਾਹਿ ਬੇਚਾਇਓ ॥
maatar pitar tiaag kai man sa(n)tan paeh bechaio ||
I have abandoned my mother and father, and sold my mind to the Saints.
ਜਾਤਿ ਜਨਮ ਕੁਲ ਖੋਈਐ ਹਉ ਗਾਵਉ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੀ ॥੧॥
jaat janam kul khoieeaai hau gaavau har haree ||1||
I have lost my social status, birth-right and ancestry; I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||
ਲੋਕ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਤੇ ਟੂਟੀਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਕਰੀ ॥
lok kuTa(n)b te TooTeeaai prabh kirat kirat karee ||
I have broken away from other people and family; I work only for God.
ਗੁਰਿ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਵਿ ਏਕ ਹਰੀ ॥੨॥੮॥੧੩੭॥
gur mo kau upadhesiaa naanak sev ek haree ||2||8||137||
The Guru has taught me, O Nanak, to serve only the One Lord. ||2||8||137||
