ਬਿਖਿਆਸਕਤ ਰਹਿਓ ਨਿਸਿ ਬਾਸੁਰ ਕੀਨੋ ਅਪਨੋ ਭਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bikhiaasakat rahio nis baasur keeno apano bhaio ||1|| rahaau ||
I remained under the influence of corruption, night and day; I did whatever I pleased. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਸੁਨਿਓ ਨਹਿ ਕਾਨਨਿ ਪਰ ਦਾਰਾ ਲਪਟਾਇਓ ॥
gur upadhes sunio neh kaanan par dhaaraa lapaTaio ||
I never listened to the Guru's Teachings; I was entangled with others' spouses.
ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਾਰਨਿ ਬਹੁ ਧਾਵਤ ਸਮਝਿਓ ਨਹ ਸਮਝਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
par ni(n)dhaa kaaran bahu dhaavat samajhio neh samajhaio ||1||
I ran all around slandering others; I was taught, but I never learned. ||1||
ਕਹਾ ਕਹਉ ਮੈ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਜਿਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਓ ॥
kahaa kahau mai apunee karanee jeh bidh janam gavaio ||
How can I even describe my actions? This is how I wasted my life.
ਕਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭ ਅਉਗਨ ਮੋ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਸਰਨਾਇਓ ॥੨॥੪॥੩॥੧੩॥੧੩੯॥੪॥੧੫੯॥
keh naanak sabh aaugan mo meh raakh leh saranaio ||2||4||3||13||139||4||159||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਉ ਜੀਵਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥
har bin kiau jeevaa meree maiee ||
O my mother, how can I live without the Supreme Soul?
ਜੈ ਜਗਦੀਸ ਤੇਰਾ ਜਸੁ ਜਾਚਉ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jai jagadhees teraa jas jaachau mai har bin rahan na jaiee ||1|| rahaau ||
Hail to the Lord of the Universe. I ask to sing Your Praises; without You, O Lord, I cannot even survive. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਪਿਆਸੀ ਕਾਮਨਿ ਦੇਖਉ ਰੈਨਿ ਸਬਾਈ ॥
har kee piaas piaasee kaaman dhekhau rain sabaiee ||
I am thirsty, thirsty for the Lord; the soul-bride gazes upon Him all through the night.
ਸ੍ਰੀਧਰ ਨਾਥ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਨੈ ਪੀਰ ਪਰਾਈ ॥੧॥
sreedhar naath meraa man leenaa prabh jaanai peer paraiee ||1||
My mind is absorbed into the Lord, my Lord and Master. Only God knows the pain of another. ||1||
ਗਣਤ ਸਰੀਰਿ ਪੀਰ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਂਈ ॥
ganat sareer peer hai har bin gur sabadhee har paa(n)iee ||
My body suffers in pain, without the Lord; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I find the Lord.
ਹੋਹੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹਾਂ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੨॥
hoh dhiaal kirapaa kar har jeeau har siau rahaa(n) samaiee ||2||
O Dear Lord, please be kind and compassionate to me, that I might remain merged in You, O Lord. ||2||
ਐਸੀ ਰਵਤ ਰਵਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈ ॥
aaisee ravat ravahu man mere har charanee chit laiee ||
Follow such a path, O my conscious mind, that you may remain focused on the Feet of the Lord.
ਬਿਸਮ ਭਏ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਮਨੋਹਰ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੩॥
bisam bhe gun gai manohar nirabhau sahaj samaiee ||3||
I am wonder-struck, singing the Glorious Praises of my Fascinating Lord; I am intuitively absorbed in the Fearless Lord. ||3||
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਧੁਨਿ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਘਟੈ ਨ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
hiradhai naam sadhaa dhun nihachal ghaTai na keemat paiee ||
That heart, in which the Eternal, Unchanging Naam vibrates and resounds, does not diminish, and cannot be evaluated.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ਨਿਰਧਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੪॥
bin naavai sabh koiee niradhan satigur boojh bujhaiee ||4||
Without the Name, everyone is poor; the True Guru has imparted this understanding. ||4||
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਭਏ ਸੁਨਿ ਸਜਨੀ ਦੂਤ ਮੁਏ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਈ ॥
preetam praan bhe sun sajanee dhoot mue bikh khaiee ||
My Beloved is my breath of life - listen, O my companion. The demons have taken poison and died.
ਜਬ ਕੀ ਉਪਜੀ ਤਬ ਕੀ ਤੈਸੀ ਰੰਗੁਲ ਭਈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ॥੫॥
jab kee upajee tab kee taisee ra(n)gul bhiee man bhaiee ||5||
As love for Him welled up, so it remains. My mind is imbued with His Love. ||5||
ਸਹਜ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਸਦਾ ਲਿਵ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਈ ॥
sahaj samaadh sadhaa liv har siau jeevaa(n) har gun gaiee ||
I am absorbed in celestial samaadhi, lovingly attached to the Lord forever. I live by singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤਾ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਈ ॥੬॥
gur kai sabadh rataa bairaagee nij ghar taaRee laiee ||6||
Imbued with the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I have become detached from the world. In the profound primal trance, I dwell within the home of my own inner being. ||6||
ਸੁਧ ਰਸ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਤਤੁ ਗੁਸਾਂਈਂ ॥
sudh ras naam mahaa ras meeThaa nij ghar tat gusaa(n)iee(n) ||
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is sublimely sweet and supremely delicious; within the home of my own self, I understand the essence of the Lord.
ਤਹ ਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਜਹ ਹੀ ਤੈ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਐਸੀ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੭॥
teh hee man jeh hee tai raakhiaa aaisee gurmat paiee ||7||
Wherever You keep my mind, there it is. This is what the Guru has taught me. ||7||
ਸਨਕ ਸਨਾਦਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਦਿ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾਦਿਕ ਭਗਤਿ ਰਤੇ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥
sanak sanaadh brahamaadh i(n)dhraadhik bhagat rate ban aaiee ||
Sanak and Sanandan, Brahma and Indra, were imbued with devotional worship, and came to be in harmony with Him.
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਘਰੀ ਨ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਡਾਈ ॥੮॥੧॥
naanak har bin gharee na jeevaa(n) har kaa naam vaddaiee ||8||1||
O Nanak, without the Lord, I cannot live, even for an instant. The Name of the Lord is glorious and great. ||8||1||
ਸਾਰਗ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
saarag mahalaa pehilaa ||
Saarang, First Mehla:
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਉ ਧੀਰੈ ਮਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
har bin kiau dheerai man meraa ||
Without the Lord, how can my mind be comforted?
ਕੋਟਿ ਕਲਪ ਕੇ ਦੂਖ ਬਿਨਾਸਨ ਸਾਚੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇ ਨਿਬੇਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
koT kalap ke dhookh binaasan saach dhiraRai niberaa ||1|| rahaau ||
The guilt and sin of millions of ages is erased, and one is released from the cycle of reincarnation, when the Truth is implanted within. ||1||Pause||
ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਜਲੇ ਹਉ ਮਮਤਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਨਉ ਰੰਗੀ ॥
karodh nivaar jale hau mamataa prem sadhaa nau ra(n)gee ||
Anger is gone, egotism and attachment have been burnt away; I am imbued with His ever-fresh Love.
ਅਨਭਉ ਬਿਸਰਿ ਗਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਚਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਾਇਲੁ ਸੰਗੀ ॥੧॥
anabhau bisar ge prabh jaachiaa har niramail sa(n)gee ||1||
Other fears are forgotten, begging at God's Door. The Immaculate Lord is my Companion. ||1||
ਚੰਚਲ ਮਤਿ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਭਉ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਏਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
cha(n)chal mat tiaag bhau bha(n)jan paiaa ek sabadh liv laagee ||
Forsaking my fickle intellect, I have found God, the Destroyer of fear; I am lovingly attuned to the One Word, the Shabad.
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਖਾ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ॥੨॥
har ras chaakh tirakhaa nivaaree har mel le baddabhaagee ||2||
Tasting the sublime essence of the Lord, my thirst is quenched; by great good fortune, the Lord has united me with Himself. ||2||
ਅਭਰਤ ਸਿੰਚਿ ਭਏ ਸੁਭਰ ਸਰ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ॥
abharat si(n)ch bhe subhar sar gurmat saach nihaalaa ||
The empty tank has been filled to overflowing. Following the Guru's Teachings, I am enraptured with the True Lord.
