ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕਰਣੀ ਊਤਮ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਜਗਿ ਬਿਸਥਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
har jan karanee uootam hai har keerat jag bisathaar ||3||
The lifestyle of the Lord's humble servant is exalted and sublime. He spreads the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises throughout the world. ||3||
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
kirapaa kirapaa kar Thaakur mere har har har ur dhaar ||
O my Lord and Master, please be merciful, merciful to me, that I may enshrine the Lord, Har, Har, Har, within my heart.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਨਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੯॥
naanak satigur pooraa paiaa man japiaa naam muraar ||4||9||
Nanak has found the Perfect True Guru; in his mind, he chants the Name of the Lord. ||4||9||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਗਿਰਹੀ ਕਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਉਦਾਸੀ ॥
eih man girahee k ih man udhaasee ||
Is this mind a householder, or is this mind a detached renunciate?
ਕਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਅਵਰਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਅਵਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
k ih man avaran sadhaa avinaasee ||
Is this mind beyond social class, eternal and unchanging?
ਕਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਚੰਚਲੁ ਕਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥
k ih man cha(n)chal k ih man bairaagee ||
Is this mind fickle, or is this mind detached?
ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਮਮਤਾ ਕਿਥਹੁ ਲਾਗੀ ॥੧॥
eis man kau mamataa kithahu laagee ||1||
How has this mind been gripped by possessiveness? ||1||
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
pa(n)ddit is man kaa karahu beechaar ||
O Pandit, O religious scholar, reflect on this in your mind.
ਅਵਰੁ ਕਿ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਪੜਹਿ ਉਠਾਵਹਿ ਭਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
avar k bahutaa paReh uThaaveh bhaar ||1|| rahaau ||
Why do you read so many other things, and carry such a heavy load? ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਮਤਾ ਕਰਤੈ ਲਾਈ ॥
maiaa mamataa karatai laiee ||
The Creator has attached it to Maya and possessiveness.
ਏਹੁ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਈ ॥
eh hukam kar sirasaT upaiee ||
Enforcing His Order, He created the world.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਬੂਝਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥
gur parasaadhee boojhahu bhaiee ||
By Guru's Grace, understand this, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਸਦਾ ਰਹਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੨॥
sadhaa rahahu har kee saranaiee ||2||
Remain forever in the Sanctuary of the Lord. ||2||
ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਜੋ ਤਿਹਾਂ ਗੁਣਾ ਕੀ ਪੰਡ ਉਤਾਰੈ ॥
so pa(n)ddit jo tihaa(n) gunaa kee pa(n)dd utaarai ||
He alone is a Pandit, who sheds the load of the three qualities.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥
anadhin eko naam vakhaanai ||
Night and day, he chants the Name of the One Lord.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਓਹੁ ਦੀਖਿਆ ਲੇਇ ॥
satigur kee oh dheekhiaa lei ||
He accepts the Teachings of the True Guru.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਸੀਸੁ ਧਰੇਇ ॥
satigur aagai sees dharei ||
He offers his head to the True Guru.
ਸਦਾ ਅਲਗੁ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ॥
sadhaa alag rahai nirabaan ||
He remains forever unattached in the state of Nirvaanaa.
ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥੩॥
so pa(n)ddit dharageh paravaan ||3||
Such a Pandit is accepted in the Court of the Lord. ||3||
ਸਭਨਾਂ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥
sabhanaa(n) meh eko ek vakhaanai ||
He preaches that the One Lord is within all beings.
ਜਾਂ ਏਕੋ ਵੇਖੈ ਤਾਂ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
jaa(n) eko vekhai taa(n) eko jaanai ||
As he sees the One Lord, he knows the One Lord.
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਬਖਸੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਸੋਇ ॥
jaa kau bakhase mele soi ||
That person, whom the Lord forgives, is united with Him.
ਐਥੈ ਓਥੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥
aaithai othai sadhaa sukh hoi ||4||
He finds eternal peace, here and hereafter. ||4||
ਕਹਤ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਵਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਕੋਇ ॥
kahat naanak kavan bidh kare kiaa koi ||
Says Nanak, what can anyone do?
ਸੋਈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
soiee mukat jaa kau kirapaa hoi ||
He alone is liberated, whom the Lord blesses with His Grace.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
anadhin har gun gaavai soi ||
Night and day, he sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੇਦ ਕੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਕੂਕ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੫॥੧॥੧੦॥
saasatr bedh kee fir kook na hoi ||5||1||10||
Then, he no longer bothers with the proclamations of the Shaastras or the Vedas. ||5||1||10||
ਮਲਾਰ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
malaar mahalaa teejaa ||
Malaar, Third Mehla:
ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਰਮਾਈ ॥
bhram bhram jon manmukh bharamaiee ||
The self-willed manmukhs wander lost in reincarnation, confused and deluded by doubt.
ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਨਿਤ ਪਤਿ ਗਵਾਈ ॥
jamakaal maare nit pat gavaiee ||
The Messenger of Death constantly beats them and disgraces them.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਕਾਣਿ ਚੁਕਾਈ ॥
satigur sevaa jam kee kaan chukaiee ||
Serving the True Guru, the mortal's subservience to Death is ended.
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮਹਲੁ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
har prabh miliaa mahal ghar paiee ||1||
He meets the Lord God, and enters the Mansion of His Presence. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
praanee gurmukh naam dhiaai ||
O mortal, as Gurmukh, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਖੋਇਆ ਕਉਡੀ ਬਦਲੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
janam padhaarath dhubidhaa khoiaa kauddee badhalai jai ||1|| rahaau ||
In duality, you are ruining and wasting this priceless human life. You trade it away in exchange for a shell. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
kar kirapaa gurmukh lagai piaar ||
The Gurmukh falls in love with the Lord, by His Grace.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੁ ॥
a(n)tar bhagat har har ur dhaar ||
He enshrines loving devotion to the Lord, Har, Har, deep within his heart.
ਭਵਜਲੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਲੰਘਾਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
bhavajal sabadh la(n)ghaavanahaar ||
The Word of the Shabad carries him across the terrifying world-ocean.
ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਦਿਸੈ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ ॥੨॥
dhar saachai dhisai sachiaar ||2||
He appears true in the True Court of the Lord. ||2||
ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
bahu karam kare satigur nahee paiaa ||
Performing all sorts of rituals, they do not find the True Guru.
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਬਹੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
bin gur bharam bhoole bahu maiaa ||
Without the Guru, so many wander lost and confused in Maya.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਬਹੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਵਧਾਇਆ ॥
haumai mamataa bahu moh vadhaiaa ||
Egotism, possessiveness and attachment rise up and increase within them.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
dhoojai bhai manmukh dhukh paiaa ||3||
In the love of dualty, the self-willed manmukhs suffer in pain. ||3||
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਥਾਹਾ ॥
aape karataa agam athaahaa ||
The Creator Himself is Inaccessible and Infinite.
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਜਪੀਐ ਸਚੁ ਲਾਹਾ ॥
gur sabadhee japeeaai sach laahaa ||
Chant the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and earn the true profit.
ਹਾਜਰੁ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹਾ ॥
haajar hajoor har veparavaahaa ||
The Lord is Independent, Ever-present, here and now.
