ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਸਿਖ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਤਰਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har bolahu gur ke sikh mere bhaiee har bhaujal jagat taraavai ||1|| rahaau ||
Chant the Name of the Lord, O Sikhs of the Guru, O my Siblings of Destiny. Only the Lord will carry you across the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||Pause||
ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਜਨੁ ਪੂਜੇ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
jo gur kau jan pooje seve so jan mere har prabh bhaavai ||
That humble being who worships, adores and serves the Guru is pleasing to my Lord God.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਜਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਆਪਿ ਤਰਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
har kee sevaa satigur poojahu kar kirapaa aap taraavai ||2||
To worship and adore the True Guru is to serve the Lord. In His Mercy, He saves us and carries us across. ||2||
ਭਰਮਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਫੂਲ ਤੋਰਾਵੈ ॥
bharam bhoole agiaanee a(n)dhule bhram bhram fool toraavai ||
The ignorant and the blind wander deluded by doubt; deluded and confused, they pick flowers to offer to their idols.
ਨਿਰਜੀਉ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਮੜਾ ਸਰੇਵਹਿ ਸਭ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਘਾਲ ਗਵਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
nirajeeau poojeh maRaa sareveh sabh birathee ghaal gavaavai ||3||
They worship lifeless stones and serve the tombs of the dead; all their efforts are useless. ||3||
ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬਿੰਦੇ ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ॥
braham bi(n)dhe so satigur kaheeaai har har kathaa sunaavai ||
He alone is said to be the True Guru, who realizes God, and proclaims the Sermon of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਛਾਦਨ ਭੋਜਨ ਪਾਟ ਪਟੰਬਰ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਸਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਸੰਚਹੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੁੰਨ ਕੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥੪॥
tis gur kau chhaadhan bhojan paaT paTa(n)bar bahu bidh sat kar mukh sa(n)chahu tis pu(n)n kee fir toT na aavai ||4||
Offer the Guru sacred foods, clothes, silk and satin robes of all sorts; know that He is True. The merits of this shall never leave you lacking. ||4||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਉ ਪਰਤਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਜੋ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ॥
satigur dheau paratakh har moorat jo a(n)mirat bachan sunaavai ||
The Divine True Guru is the Embodiment, the Image of the Lord; He utters the Ambrosial Word.
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਾਗ ਭਲੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥੫॥੪॥
naanak bhaag bhale tis jan ke jo har charanee chit laavai ||5||4||
O Nanak, blessed and good is the destiny of that humble being, who focuses his consciousness on the Feet of the Lord. ||5||4||
ਮਲਾਰ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Malaar, Fourth Mehla:
ਜਿਨੑ ਕੈ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਬਸਿਓ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਭਲੇ ਭਲ ਭਾਂਤਿ ॥
jin(h) kai heearai basio meraa satigur te sa(n)t bhale bhal bhaa(n)t ||
Those whose hearts are filled with my True Guru - those Saints are good and noble in every way.
ਤਿਨੑ ਦੇਖੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਂਤ ॥੧॥
tin(h) dhekhe meraa man bigasai hau tin kai sadh bal jaa(n)t ||1||
Seeing them, my mind blossoms forth in bliss; I am forever a sacrifice to them. ||1||
ਗਿਆਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
giaanee har bolahu dhin raat ||
O spiritual teacher, chant the Name of the Lord, day and night.
ਤਿਨੑ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੂਖ ਸਭ ਉਤਰੀ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਖਾਂਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tin(h) kee tirasanaa bhookh sabh utaree jo gurmat raam ras khaa(n)t ||1|| rahaau ||
All hunger and thirst are satisfied, for those who partake of the sublime essence of the Lord, through the Guru's Teachings. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਦਾਸ ਸਾਧ ਸਖਾ ਜਨ ਜਿਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਇ ਭਰਾਂਤਿ ॥
har ke dhaas saadh sakhaa jan jin miliaa leh jai bharaa(n)t ||
The slaves of the Lord are our Holy companions. Meeting with them, doubt is taken away.
ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਦੁਧ ਭਿੰਨ ਭਿੰਨ ਕਾਢੈ ਚੁਣਿ ਹੰਸੁਲਾ ਤਿਉ ਦੇਹੀ ਤੇ ਚੁਣਿ ਕਾਢੈ ਸਾਧੂ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਾਤਿ ॥੨॥
jiau jal dhudh bhi(n)n bhi(n)n kaaddai chun ha(n)sulaa tiau dhehee te chun kaaddai saadhoo haumai taat ||2||
As the swan separates the milk from the water, the Holy Saint removes the fire of egotism from the body. ||2||
ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਤੇ ਕਪਟੀ ਨਰ ਨਿਤ ਕਪਟੁ ਕਮਾਂਤਿ ॥
jin kai preet naahee har hiradhai te kapaTee nar nit kapaT kamaa(n)t ||
Those who do not love the Lord in their hearts are deceitful; they continually practice deception.
ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਕਿਆ ਕੋਈ ਦੇਇ ਖਵਾਲੈ ਓਇ ਆਪਿ ਬੀਜਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਖਾਂਤਿ ॥੩॥
tin kau kiaa koiee dhei khavaalai oi aap beej aape hee khaa(n)t ||3||
What can anyone give them to eat? Whatever they themselves plant, they must eat. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਚਿਹਨੁ ਸੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਨ ਮਹਿ ਆਪੁ ਰਖਾਂਤਿ ॥
har kaa chihan soiee har jan kaa har aape jan meh aap rakhaa(n)t ||
This is the Quality of the Lord, and of the Lord's humble servants as well; the Lord places His Own Essence within them.
ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਮਦਰਸੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਤਰੀ ਤਰਾਂਤਿ ॥੪॥੫॥
dhan dha(n)n guroo naanak samadharasee jin ni(n)dhaa usatat taree taraa(n)t ||4||5||
Blessed, blessed, is Guru Nanak, who looks impartially on all; He crosses over and transcends both slander and praise. ||4||5||
ਮਲਾਰ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Malaar, Fourth Mehla:
ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਊਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਜਪਿ ਲਇਆ ॥
agam agochar naam har uootam har kirapaa te jap liaa ||
The Name of the Lord is inaccessible, unfathomable, exalted and sublime. It is chanted by the Lord's Grace.
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਪਾਈ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੧॥
satasa(n)gat saadh paiee vaddabhaagee sa(n)g saadhoo paar piaa ||1||
By great good fortune, I have found the True Congregation, and in the Company of the Holy, I am carried across. ||1||
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
merai man anadhin anadh bhiaa ||
My mind is in ecstasy, night and day.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਗਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur parasaadh naam har japiaa mere man kaa bhram bhau giaa ||1|| rahaau ||
By Guru's Grace, I chant the Name of the Lord. Doubt and fear are gone from my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਇਆ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਇਆ ॥
jin har gaiaa jin har japiaa tin sa(n)gat har melahu kar miaa ||
Those who chant and meditate on the Lord - O Lord, in Your Mercy, please unite me with them.
ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਦਰਸੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਇਆ ॥੨॥
tin kaa dharas dhekh sukh paiaa dhukh haumai rog giaa ||2||
Gazing upon them, I am at peace; the pain and disease of egotism are gone. ||2||
ਜੋ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਕਾ ਸਫਲੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
jo anadhin hiradhai naam dhiaaveh sabh janam tinaa kaa safal bhiaa ||
Those who meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord in their hearts - their lives become totally fruitful.
ਓਇ ਆਪਿ ਤਰੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਤਾਰੀ ਸਭੁ ਕੁਲੁ ਭੀ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੩॥
oi aap tare sirasaT sabh taaree sabh kul bhee paar piaa ||3||
They themselves swim across, and carry the world across with them. Their ancestors and family cross over as well. ||3||
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਵਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਲਇਆ ॥
tudh aape aap upaiaa sabh jag tudh aape vas kar liaa ||
You Yourself created the whole world, and You Yourself keep it under Your control.
