ਜਨ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਓਇ ਊਤਮ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਨ ॥੩॥
jan kee mahimaa baran na saakau oi uootam har har ken ||3||
I cannot even describe the noble grandeur of such humble beings; the Lord, Har, Har, has made them sublime and exalted. ||3||
ਤੁਮੑ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਹ ਵਡੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਮ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਰਾਸਿ ਦੇਨ ॥
tum(h) har saeh vadde prabh suaamee ham vanajaare raas dhen ||
You, Lord are the Great Merchant-Banker; O God, my Lord and Master, I am just a poor peddler; please bless me with the wealth.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਦਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਲਦਿ ਵਾਖਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲੇਨ ॥੪॥੨॥
jan naanak kau dhiaa prabh dhaarahu ladh vaakhar har har len ||4||2||
Please bestow Your Kindness and Mercy upon servant Nanak, God, so that he may load up the merchandise of the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||2||
ਕਾਨੜਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Kaanraa, Fourth Mehla:
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥
jap man raam naam paragaas ||
O mind, chant the Name of the Lord, and be enlightened.
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਨੀ ਵਿਚੇ ਗਿਰਹ ਉਦਾਸ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har ke sa(n)t mil preet lagaanee viche gireh udhaas ||1|| rahaau ||
Meet with the Saints of the Lord, and focus your love; remain balanced and detached within your own household. ||1||Pause||
ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਜਪਿਓ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਰਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾਸ ॥
ham har hiradhai japio naam narahar prabh kirapaa karee kirapaas ||
I chant the Name of the Lord, Nar-Har, within my heart; God the Merciful has shown His Mercy.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਬਿਗਸਿਆ ਉਦਮ ਭਏ ਮਿਲਨ ਕੀ ਆਸ ॥੧॥
anadhin anadh bhiaa man bigasiaa udham bhe milan kee aas ||1||
Night and day, I am in ecstasy; my mind has blossomed forth, rejuvenated. I am trying - I hope to meet my Lord. ||1||
ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਈ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਾਸ ਲੀਏ ਹਮ ਗ੍ਰਾਸ ॥
ham har suaamee preet lagaiee jitane saas le'ee ham graas ||
I am in love with the Lord, my Lord and Master; I love Him with every breath and morsel of food I take.
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਦਹਨ ਭਏ ਖਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤੂਟਿ ਗਏ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਫਾਸ ॥੨॥
kilabikh dhahan bhe khin a(n)tar tooT ge maiaa ke faas ||2||
My sins were burnt away in an instant; the noose of the bondage of Maya was loosened. ||2||
ਕਿਆ ਹਮ ਕਿਰਮ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਰਖੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤਾਸ ॥
kiaa ham kiram kiaa karam kamaaveh moorakh mugadh rakhe prabh taas ||
I am such a worm! What karma am I creating? What can I do? I am a fool, a total idiot, but God has saved me.
ਅਵਗਨੀਆਰੇ ਪਾਥਰ ਭਾਰੇ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਤਰੇ ਤਰਾਸ ॥੩॥
avaganeeaare paathar bhaare satasa(n)gat mil tare taraas ||3||
I am unworthy, heavy as stone, but joining the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, I am carried across to the other side. ||3||
ਜੇਤੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰੀ ਜਗਦੀਸਰਿ ਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਊਚ ਹਮ ਨੀਚ ਬਿਖਿਆਸ ॥
jetee sirasaT karee jagadheesar te sabh uooch ham neech bikhiaas ||
The Universe which God created is all above me; I am the lowest, engrossed in corruption.
ਹਮਰੇ ਅਵਗੁਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਗੁਰ ਮੇਟੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਸ ॥੪॥੩॥
hamare avagun sa(n)g gur meTe jan naanak mel le'ee prabh paas ||4||3||
With the Guru, my faults and demerits have been erased. Servant Nanak has been united with God Himself. ||4||3||

ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿਓ ਗੁਰ ਵਾਕ ॥

O my mind, chant the Name of the Lord, through the Guru's Word.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਜਗਦੀਸਰਿ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਗਇਓ ਸਭ ਝਾਕ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har kirapaa karee jagadheesar dhuramat dhoojaa bhaau gio sabh jhaak ||1|| rahaau ||
The Lord, Har, Har, has shown me His Mercy, and my evil-mindedness, love of duality and sense of alienation are totally gone, thanks to the Lord of the Universe. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਨਾ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਰੇ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵਿਓ ਗੁਪਲਾਕ ॥
naanaa roop ra(n)g har kere ghaT ghaT raam ravio gupalaak ||
There are so many forms and colors of the Lord. The Lord is pervading each and every heart, and yet He is hidden from view.
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਉਘਰਿ ਗਏ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੇ ਤਾਕ ॥੧॥
har ke sa(n)t mile har pragaTe ughar ge bikhiaa ke taak ||1||
Meeting with the Lord's Saints, the Lord is revealed, and the doors of corruption are shattered. ||1||
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਹੁ ਸੋਭਾ ਜਿਨ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿਕ ਰਸਾਕ ॥
sa(n)t janaa kee bahut bahu sobhaa jin ur dhaario har rasik rasaak ||
The glory of the Saintly beings is absolutely great; they lovingly enshrine the Lord of Bliss and Delight within their hearts.
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜੈਸੇ ਗਊ ਦੇਖਿ ਬਛਰਾਕ ॥੨॥
har ke sa(n)t mile har miliaa jaise guoo dhekh bachharaak ||2||
Meeting with the Lord's Saints, I meet with the Lord, just as when the calf is seen - the cow is there as well. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਊਤਮ ਜਨਕ ਜਨਾਕ ॥
har ke sa(n)t janaa meh har har te jan uootam janak janaak ||
The Lord, Har, Har, is within the humble Saints of the Lord; they are exalted - they know, and they inspire others to know as well.
ਤਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਾਸੁ ਬਸਾਨੀ ਛੂਟਿ ਗਈ ਮੁਸਕੀ ਮੁਸਕਾਕ ॥੩॥
tin har hiradhai baas basaanee chhooT giee musakee musakaak ||3||
The fragrance of the Lord permeates their hearts; they have abandoned the foul stench. ||3||
ਤੁਮਰੇ ਜਨ ਤੁਮੑ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਆਪਨ ਅਪਨਾਕ ॥
tumare jan tum(h) hee prabh ke'ee har raakh leh aapan apanaak ||
You make those humble beings Your Own, God; You protect Your Own, O Lord.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਸਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਈ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਬੰਧਪ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਕ ॥੪॥੪॥
jan naanak ke sakhaa har bhaiee maat pitaa ba(n)dhap har saak ||4||4||
The Lord is servant Nanak's companion; the Lord is his sibling, mother, father, relative and relation. ||4||4||

Kaanraa, Fourth Mehla:
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
mere man har har raam naam jap cheet ||
O my mind, consciously chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਗੜਿੑ ਵੇੜੑੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਲੀਓ ਗੜੁ ਜੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har vasat maiaa gaRi(h) veR(h)ee gur kai sabadh leeo gaR jeet ||1|| rahaau ||
The commodity of the Lord, Har, Har, is locked in the fortress of Maya; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I have conquered the fortress. ||1||Pause||
ਮਿਥਿਆ ਭਰਮਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਬਹੁ ਭ੍ਰਮਿਆ ਲੁਬਧੋ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਮੋਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
mithiaa bharam bharam bahu bhramiaa lubadho putr kalatr moh preet ||
In false doubt and superstition, people wander all around, lured by love and emotional attachment to their children and families.
ਜੈਸੇ ਤਰਵਰ ਕੀ ਤੁਛ ਛਾਇਆ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਦੇਹ ਭੀਤਿ ॥੧॥
jaise taravar kee tuchh chhaiaa khin meh binas jai dheh bheet ||1||
But just like the passing shade of the tree, your body-wall shall crumble in an instant. ||1||
ਹਮਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਜਨ ਊਤਮ ਜਿਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤਿ ॥
hamare praan preetam jan uootam jin miliaa man hoi prateet ||
The humble beings are exalted; they are my breath of life and my beloveds; meeting them, my mind is filled with faith.
ਪਰਚੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥੨॥
parachai raam raviaa ghaT a(n)tar asathir raam raviaa ra(n)g preet ||2||
Deep within the heart, I am happy with the Pervading Lord; with love and joy, I dwell upon the Steady and Stable Lord. ||2||
