ਚਰਨ ਸੇਵ ਸੰਤ ਸਾਧ ਕੇ ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰੇ ॥੩॥
charan sev sa(n)t saadh ke sagal manorath poore ||3||
Serving at the Feet of the Holy Saints, all desires are fulfilled. ||3||
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਏਕੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੂਰੇ ॥੪॥
ghaT ghaT ek varatadhaa jal thal maheeal poore ||4||
In each and every heart, the One Lord is pervading. He is totally permeating the water, the land, and the sky. ||4||
ਪਾਪ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰੇ ॥੫॥
paap binaasan seviaa pavitr sa(n)tan kee dhoore ||5||
I serve the Destroyer of sin, and I am sanctified by the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||5||
ਸਭ ਛਡਾਈ ਖਸਮਿ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਭਈ ਠਰੂਰੇ ॥੬॥
sabh chhaddaiee khasam aap har jap bhiee Tharoore ||6||
My Lord and Master Himself has saved me completely; I am comforted by meditating on the Lord. ||6||
ਕਰਤੈ ਕੀਆ ਤਪਾਵਸੋ ਦੁਸਟ ਮੁਏ ਹੋਇ ਮੂਰੇ ॥੭॥
karatai keeaa tapaavaso dhusaT mue hoi moore ||7||
The Creator has passed judgement, and the evil-doers have been silenced and killed. ||7||
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਤਾ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥੮॥੫॥੩੯॥੧॥੩੨॥੧॥੫॥੩੯॥
naanak rataa sach nai har vekhai sadhaa hajoore ||8||5||39||1||32||1||5||39||

ਕਿਰਤਿ ਕਰਮ ਕੇ ਵੀਛੁੜੇ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਰਾਮ ॥
kirat karam ke veechhuRe kar kirapaa melahu raam ||
By the actions we have committed, we are separated from You. Please show Your Mercy, and unite us with Yourself, Lord.
ਚਾਰਿ ਕੁੰਟ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਭ੍ਰਮੇ ਥਕਿ ਆਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਾਮ ॥
chaar ku(n)T dheh dhis bhrame thak aae prabh kee saam ||
We have grown weary of wandering to the four corners of the earth and in the ten directions. We have come to Your Sanctuary, God.
ਧੇਨੁ ਦੁਧੈ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰੀ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਕਾਮ ॥
dhen dhudhai te baaharee kitai na aavai kaam ||
Without milk, a cow serves no purpose.
ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਖ ਕੁਮਲਾਵਤੀ ਉਪਜਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਦਾਮ ॥
jal bin saakh kumalaavatee upajeh naahee dhaam ||
Without water, the crop withers, and it will not bring a good price.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਹ ਨ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਸਾਜਨੈ ਕਤ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਸਰਾਮ ॥
har naeh na mileeaai saajanai kat paieeaai bisaraam ||
If we do not meet the Lord, our Friend, how can we find our place of rest?
ਜਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੰਤੁ ਨ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਈ ਭਠਿ ਨਗਰ ਸੇ ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ॥
jit ghar har ka(n)t na pragaTiee bhaTh nagar se graam ||
Those homes, those hearts, in which the Husband Lord is not manifest-those towns and villages are like burning furnaces.
ਸ੍ਰਬ ਸੀਗਾਰ ਤੰਬੋਲ ਰਸ ਸਣੁ ਦੇਹੀ ਸਭ ਖਾਮ ॥
srab seegaar ta(n)bol ras san dhehee sabh khaam ||
All decorations, the chewing of betel to sweeten the breath, and the body itself, are all useless and vain.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੰਤ ਵਿਹੂਣੀਆ ਮੀਤ ਸਜਣ ਸਭਿ ਜਾਮ ॥
prabh suaamee ka(n)t vihooneeaa meet sajan sabh jaam ||
Without God, our Husband, our Lord and Master, all friends and companions are like the Messenger of Death.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀਆ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੀਜੈ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
naanak kee bena(n)teeaa kar kirapaa dheejai naam ||
This is Nanak's prayer: ""Please show Your Mercy, and bestow Your Name.
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਧਾਮ ॥੧॥
har melahu suaamee sa(n)g prabh jis kaa nihachal dhaam ||1||
O my Lord and Master, please unite me with Yourself, O God, in the Eternal Mansion of Your Presence"". ||1||
ਚੇਤਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਅਰਾਧੀਐ ਹੋਵੈ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਘਣਾ ॥
chet govi(n)dh araadheeaai hovai ana(n)dh ghanaa ||
In the month of Chayt, by meditating on the Lord of the Universe, a deep and profound joy arises.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਣਾ ॥
sa(n)t janaa mil paieeaai rasanaa naam bhanaa ||
Meeting with the humble Saints, the Lord is found, as we chant His Name with our tongues.
ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਏ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਗਣਾ ॥
jin paiaa prabh aapanaa aae tiseh ganaa ||
Those who have found God-blessed is their coming into this world.
ਇਕੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਜੀਵਣਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਜਣਾ ॥
eik khin tis bin jeevanaa birathaa janam janaa ||
Those who live without Him, for even an instant-their lives are rendered useless.
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੂਰਿਆ ਰਵਿਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਣਾ ॥
jal thal maheeal pooriaa raviaa vich vanaa ||
The Lord is totally pervading the water, the land, and all space. He is contained in the forests as well.
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਕਿਤੜਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਗਣਾ ॥
so prabh chit na aaviee kitaRaa dhukh ganaa ||
Those who do not remember God-how much pain must they suffer!
ਜਿਨੀ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤਿੰਨਾ ਭਾਗੁ ਮਣਾ ॥
jinee raaviaa so prabhoo ti(n)naa bhaag manaa ||
Those who dwell upon their God have great good fortune.
ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੰਉ ਮਨੁ ਲੋਚਦਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਿਆਸ ਮਨਾ ॥
har dharasan ka(n)au man lochadhaa naanak piaas manaa ||
My mind yearns for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. O Nanak, my mind is so thirsty!
ਚੇਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਪਾਇ ਲਗਾ ॥੨॥
chet milaae so prabhoo tis kai pai lagaa ||2||
I touch the feet of one who unites me with God in the month of Chayt. ||2||
ਵੈਸਾਖਿ ਧੀਰਨਿ ਕਿਉ ਵਾਢੀਆ ਜਿਨਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਿਛੋਹੁ ॥
vaisaakh dheeran kiau vaaddeeaa jinaa prem bichhoh ||
In the month of Vaisaakh, how can the bride be patient? She is separated from her Beloved.
ਹਰਿ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਲਗੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਧੋਹੁ ॥
har saajan purakh visaar kai lagee maiaa dhoh ||
She has forgotten the Lord, her Life-companion, her Master; she has become attached to Maya, the deceitful one.
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਧਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਅਵਿਨਾਸੀ ਓਹੁ ॥
putr kalatr na sa(n)g dhanaa har avinaasee oh ||
Neither son, nor spouse, nor wealth shall go along with you-only the Eternal Lord.
ਪਲਚਿ ਪਲਚਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਮੁਈ ਝੂਠੈ ਧੰਧੈ ਮੋਹੁ ॥
palach palach sagalee muiee jhooThai dha(n)dhai moh ||
Entangled and enmeshed in the love of false occupations, the whole world is perishing.
ਇਕਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਗੈ ਲਈਅਹਿ ਖੋਹਿ ॥
eikas har ke naam bin agai lie'eeh khoh ||
Without the Naam, the Name of the One Lord, they lose their lives in the hereafter.
ਦਯੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਵਿਗੁਚਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
dhay visaar viguchanaa prabh bin avar na koi ||
Forgetting the Merciful Lord, they are ruined. Without God, there is no other at all.
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਚਰਣੀ ਜੋ ਲਗੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਇ ॥
preetam charanee jo lage tin kee niramal soi ||
Pure is the reputation of those who are attached to the Feet of the Beloved Lord.
