ਇਸੁ ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
eis kalijug meh karam dharam na koiee ||
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, no one is interested in good karma, or Dharmic faith.
ਕਲੀ ਕਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਚੰਡਾਲ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਹੋਈ ॥
kalee kaa janam cha(n)ddaal kai ghar hoiee ||
This Dark Age was born in the house of evil.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੩੦॥
naanak naam binaa ko mukat na hoiee ||4||10||30||
O Nanak, without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, no one is liberated. ||4||10||30||
ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ॥
gauRee mahalaa teejaa guaareree ||
Gauree, Third Mehla, Gwaarayree:
ਸਚਾ ਅਮਰੁ ਸਚਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ॥
sachaa amar sachaa paatisaahu ||
True is the Lord King, True is His Royal Command.
ਮਨਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਰਾਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ॥ ਸਚੈ ਮਹਲਿ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਹੁ ॥੧॥
man saachai raate har veparavaahu || sachai mahal sach naam samaahu ||1||
Those whose minds are attuned to the True, Carefree Lord enter the True Mansion of His Presence, and merge in the True Name. ||1||
ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
sun man mere sabadh veechaar ||
Listen, O my mind: contemplate the Word of the Shabad.
ਰਾਮ ਜਪਹੁ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਉਤਰਹੁ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam japahu bhavajal utarahu paar ||1|| rahaau ||
Chant the Lord's Name, and cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||Pause||
ਭਰਮੇ ਆਵੈ ਭਰਮੇ ਜਾਇ ॥
bharame aavai bharame jai ||
In doubt he comes, and in doubt he goes.
ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਜਨਮਿਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥
eih jag janamiaa dhoojai bhai ||
This world is born out of the love of duality.
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਨ ਚੇਤੈ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
manmukh na chetai aavai jai ||2||
The self-willed manmukh does not remember the Lord; he continues coming and going in reincarnation. ||2||
ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ॥
aap bhulaa k prabh aap bhulaiaa ||
Does he himself go astray, or does God lead him astray?
ਇਹੁ ਜੀਉ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
eih jeeau viddaanee chaakaree laiaa ||
This soul is enjoined to the service of someone else.
ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਖਟੇ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
mahaa dhukh khaTe birathaa janam gavaiaa ||3||
It earns only terrible pain, and this life is lost in vain. ||3||
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
kirapaa kar satiguroo milaae ||
Granting His Grace, He leads us to meet the True Guru.
ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਚੇਤੇ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥
eko naam chete vichahu bharam chukaae ||
Remembering the One Name, doubt is cast out from within.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੇ ਨਾਉ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੩੧॥
naanak naam jape naau nau nidh paae ||4||11||31||
O Nanak, chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the nine treasures of the Name are obtained. ||4||11||31||
ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
gauRee guaareree mahalaa teejaa ||
Gauree Gwaarayree, Third Mehla:
ਜਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਪੂਛਉ ਜਾਇ ॥
jinaa gurmukh dhiaaiaa tin poochhau jai ||
Go and ask the Gurmukhs, who meditate on the Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਪਤੀਆਇ ॥
gur sevaa te man pateeaai ||
Serving the Guru, the mind is satisfied.
ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
se dhanava(n)t har naam kamai ||
Those who earn the Lord's Name are wealthy.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥
poore gur te sojhee pai ||1||
Through the Perfect Guru, understanding is obtained. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
har har naam japahu mere bhaiee ||
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my Siblings of Destiny.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਘਾਲ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gurmukh sevaa har ghaal thai paiee ||1|| rahaau ||
The Gurmukhs serve the Lord, and so they are accepted. ||1||Pause||
ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
aap pachhaanai man niramal hoi ||
Those who recognize the self - their minds become pure.
ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
jeevan mukat har paavai soi ||
They become Jivan-mukta, liberated while yet alive, and they find the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਮਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਹੋਇ ॥
har gun gaavai mat uootam hoi ||
Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the intellect becomes pure and sublime,
ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥
sahaje sahaj samaavai soi ||2||
and they are easily and intuitively absorbed in the Lord. ||2||
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
dhoojai bhai na seviaa jai ||
In the love of duality, no one can serve the Lord.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਇ ॥
haumai maiaa mahaa bikh khai ||
In egotism and Maya, they are eating toxic poison.
ਪੁਤਿ ਕੁਟੰਬਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਮਾਇ ॥
put kuTa(n)b gireh mohiaa mai ||
They are emotionally attached to their children, family and home.
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧਾ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
manmukh a(n)dhaa aavai jai ||3||
The blind, self-willed manmukhs come and go in reincarnation. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
har har naam dhevai jan soi || anadhin bhagat gur sabadhee hoi ||
Those, unto whom the Lord bestows His Name, worship Him night and day, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
gurmat viralaa boojhai koi ||
How rare are those who understand the Guru's Teachings!
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੩੨॥
naanak naam samaavai soi ||4||12||32||
O Nanak, they are absorbed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||12||32||
ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਹੋਈ ॥
gur sevaa jug chaare hoiee ||
The Guru's service has been performed throughout the four ages.
ਪੂਰਾ ਜਨੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
pooraa jan kaar kamaavai koiee ||
Very few are those perfect ones who do this good deed.
ਅਖੁਟੁ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
akhuT naam dhan har toT na hoiee ||
The wealth of the Lord's Name is inexhaustible; it shall never be exhausted.
ਐਥੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥
aaithai sadhaa sukh dhar sobhaa hoiee ||1||
In this world, it brings a constant peace, and at the Lord's Gate, it brings honor. ||1||
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
e man mere bharam na keejai ||
O my mind, have no doubt about this.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gurmukh sevaa a(n)mirat ras peejai ||1|| rahaau ||
Those Gurmukhs who serve, drink in the Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||Pause||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਮਹਾਪੁਰਖ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ ॥
satigur seveh se mahaapurakh sa(n)saare ||
Those who serve the True Guru are the greatest people of the world.
ਆਪਿ ਉਧਰੇ ਕੁਲ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥
aap udhare kul sagal nisataare ||
They save themselves, and they redeem all their generations as well.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖਹਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
har kaa naam rakheh ur dhaare ||
They keep the Name of the Lord clasped tightly to their hearts.
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਭਉਜਲ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਪਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
naam rate bhaujal utareh paare ||2||
Attuned to the Naam, they cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||2||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਮਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ॥
satigur seveh sadhaa man dhaasaa ||
Serving the True Guru, the mind becomes humble forever.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ॥
haumai maar kamal paragaasaa ||
Egotism is subdued, and the heart-lotus blossoms forth.
ਅਨਹਦੁ ਵਾਜੈ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ॥
anahadh vaajai nij ghar vaasaa ||
The Unstruck Melody vibrates, as they dwell within the home of the self.
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਘਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਉਦਾਸਾ ॥੩॥
naam rate ghar maeh udhaasaa ||3||
Attuned to the Naam, they remain detached within their own home. ||3||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
satigur seveh tin kee sachee baanee ||
Serving the True Guru, their words are true.
ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥
jug jug bhagatee aakh vakhaanee ||
Throughout the ages, the devotees chant and repeat these words.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਪਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਰੰਗਪਾਣੀ ॥
anadhin japeh har saara(n)gapaanee ||
Night and day, they meditate on the Lord, the Sustainer of the Earth.
