ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਲਖਿਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਪੜਦਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਪਾਈ ॥
a(n)tar alakh na jaiee lakhiaa vich paRadhaa haumai paiee ||
The Unseen Lord is deep within the self; He cannot be seen; the curtain of egotism intervenes.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਭੋ ਜਗੁ ਸੋਇਆ ਇਹੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਿਉ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
maiaa moh sabho jag soiaa ih bharam kahahu kiau jaiee ||1||
In emotional attachment to Maya, all the world is asleep. Tell me, how can this doubt be dispelled? ||1||
ਏਕਾ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਇਕਤੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਬਸਤੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਬਾਤ ਨ ਕਰਤੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
ekaa sa(n)gat ikat gireh basate mil baat na karate bhaiee ||
The one lives together with the other in the same house, but they do not talk to one another, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਏਕ ਬਸਤੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਪੰਚ ਦੁਹੇਲੇ ਓਹ ਬਸਤੁ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਠਾਈ ॥੨॥
ek basat bin pa(n)ch dhuhele oh basat agochar Thaiee ||2||
Without the one substance, the five are miserable; that substance is in the unapproachable place. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਤਿਨਿ ਦੀਆ ਤਾਲਾ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਉਪਾਈ ॥
jis kaa girahu tin dheeaa taalaa ku(n)jee gur saupaiee ||
And the one whose home it is, has locked it up, and given the key to the Guru.
ਅਨਿਕ ਉਪਾਵ ਕਰੇ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੩॥
anik upaav kare nahee paavai bin satigur saranaiee ||3||
You may make all sorts of efforts, but it cannot be obtained, without the Sanctuary of the True Guru. ||3||
ਜਿਨ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤਿਨ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
jin ke ba(n)dhan kaaTe satigur tin saadhasa(n)gat liv laiee ||
Those whose bonds have been broken by the True Guru, enshrine love for the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਪੰਚ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥੪॥
pa(n)ch janaa mil ma(n)gal gaiaa har naanak bhedh na bhaiee ||4||
The self-elect, the self-realized beings, meet together and sing the joyous songs of the Lord. Nanak, there is no difference between them, O Siblings of Destiny. ||4||
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
mere raam rai in bidh milai gusaiee ||
This is how my Sovereign Lord King, the Lord of the Universe, is met;
ਸਹਜੁ ਭਇਆ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਠਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧॥੧੨੨॥
sahaj bhiaa bhram khin meh naaThaa mil jotee jot samaiee ||1|| rahaau dhoojaa ||1||122||
celestial bliss is attained in an instant, and doubt is dispelled. Meeting Him, my light merges in the Light. ||1||Second Pause||1||122||
ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
gauRee mahalaa panjavaa ||
Gauree, Fifth Mehla:
ਐਸੋ ਪਰਚਉ ਪਾਇਓ ॥
aaiso parachau paio ||
I am intimate with Him;
ਕਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਦਇਆਲ ਬੀਠੁਲੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੁਝਹਿ ਬਤਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
karee kirapaa dhiaal beeThulai satigur mujheh bataio ||1|| rahaau ||
granting His Grace, my Kind Beloved has told me of the True Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਜਤ ਕਤ ਦੇਖਉ ਤਤ ਤਤ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਇਹੁ ਬਿਸੁਆਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਆਇਓ ॥
jat kat dhekhau tat tat tum hee moh ih bisuaas hoi aaio ||
Wherever I look, there You are; I am totally convinced of this.
ਕੈ ਪਹਿ ਕਰਉ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਜਉ ਸੁਨਤੋ ਹੈ ਰਘੁਰਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
kai peh karau aradhaas benatee jau sunato hai raghuraio ||1||
Unto whom should I pray? The Lord Himself hears all. ||1||
ਲਹਿਓ ਸਹਸਾ ਬੰਧਨ ਗੁਰਿ ਤੋਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਓ ॥
lahio sahasaa ba(n)dhan gur tore taa(n) sadhaa sahaj sukh paio ||
My anxiety is over. The Guru has cut away my bonds, and I have found eternal peace.
ਹੋਣਾ ਸਾ ਸੋਈ ਫੁਨਿ ਹੋਸੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਹਾ ਦਿਖਾਇਓ ॥੨॥
honaa saa soiee fun hosee sukh dhukh kahaa dhikhaio ||2||
Whatever shall be, shall be in the end; so where can pain and pleasure be seen? ||2||
ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਕਾ ਏਕੋ ਠਾਣਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਪਰਦਾ ਖੋਲਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਓ ॥
kha(n)dd brahama(n)dd kaa eko Thaanaa gur paradhaa khol dhikhaio ||
The continents and the solar systems rest in the support of the One Lord. The Guru has removed the veil of illusion, and shown this to me.
ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਇਕ ਠਾਈ ਤਉ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕੈਠੈ ਜਾਇਓ ॥੩॥
nau nidh naam nidhaan ik Thaiee tau baahar kaiThai jaio ||3||
The nine treasures of the wealth of the Name of the Lord are in that one place. Where else should we go? ||3||
ਏਕੈ ਕਨਿਕ ਅਨਿਕ ਭਾਤਿ ਸਾਜੀ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਕਾਰ ਰਚਾਇਓ ॥
ekai kanik anik bhaat saajee bahu parakaar rachaio ||
The same gold is fashioned into various articles; just so, the Lord has made the many patterns of the creation.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਰਮੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਖੋਈ ਹੈ ਇਵ ਤਤੈ ਤਤੁ ਮਿਲਾਇਓ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੨੩॥
kahu naanak bharam gur khoiee hai iv tatai tat milaio ||4||2||123||
Says Nanak, the Guru has dispelled my doubt; in this way, my essence merges into God's essence. ||4||2||123||
ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
gauRee mahalaa panjavaa ||
Gauree, Fifth Mehla:
ਅਉਧ ਘਟੈ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਨਾਰੇ ॥
aaudh ghaTai dhinas rainaare ||
This life is diminishing, day and night.
ਮਨ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man gur mil kaaj savaare ||1|| rahaau ||
Meeting with the Guru, your affairs shall be resolved. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰਉ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤਾ ਸੰਤ ਟਹਲ ਕੀ ਬੇਲਾ ॥
karau bena(n)tee sunahu mere meetaa sa(n)t Tahal kee belaa ||
Listen, my friends, I beg of you: now is the time to serve the Saints!
ਈਹਾ ਖਾਟਿ ਚਲਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਹਾ ਆਗੈ ਬਸਨੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥੧॥
e'eehaa khaaT chalahu har laahaa aagai basan suhelaa ||1||
In this world, earn the profit of the Lord's Name, and hereafter, you shall dwell in peace. ||1||
ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਬਿਕਾਰੁ ਸਹਸੇ ਮਹਿ ਤਰਿਓ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥
eih sa(n)saar bikaar sahase meh tario braham giaanee ||
This world is engrossed in corruption and cynicism. Only those who know God are saved.
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਜਗਾਇ ਪੀਆਏ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੨॥
jiseh jagai peeaae har ras akath kathaa tin jaanee ||2||
Those who are awakened by the Lord to drink in this sublime essence, come to know the Unspoken Speech of the Lord. ||2||
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਆਏ ਸੋਈ ਵਿਹਾਝਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਨਹਿ ਬਸੇਰਾ ॥
jaa kau aae soiee vihaajhahu har gur te maneh baseraa ||
Purchase only that for which you have come into the world, and through the Guru, the Lord shall dwell within your mind.
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜੇ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਹੋਇਗੋ ਫੇਰਾ ॥੩॥
nij ghar mahal paavahu sukh sahaje bahur na hoigo feraa ||3||
Within the home of your own inner being, you shall obtain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence with intuitive ease. You shall not be consigned again to the wheel of reincarnation. ||3||
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ਸਰਧਾ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਪੂਰੇ ॥
a(n)tarajaamee purakh bidhaate saradhaa man kee poore ||
O Inner-knower, Searcher of hearts, Primal Being, Architect of Destiny: please fulfill this yearning of my mind.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸੁ ਇਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰੇ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੨੪॥
naanak dhaas ihee sukh maagai mo kau kar sa(n)tan kee dhoore ||4||3||124||
Nanak, Your slave, begs for this happiness: let me be the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||4||3||124||
ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Gauree, Fifth Mehla:
ਰਾਖੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
raakh pitaa prabh mere ||
Save me, O My Father God.
ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਨੁ ਸਭ ਗੁਨ ਤੇਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
moh niragun sabh gun tere ||1|| rahaau ||
I am worthless and without virtue; all virtues are Yours. ||1||Pause||
ਪੰਚ ਬਿਖਾਦੀ ਏਕੁ ਗਰੀਬਾ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ ॥
pa(n)ch bikhaadhee ek gareebaa raakhahu raakhanahaare ||
The five vicious thieves are assaulting my poor being; save me, O Savior Lord!
ਖੇਦੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਅਰੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਸੰਤਾਵਹਿ ਆਇਓ ਸਰਨਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
khedh kareh ar bahut sa(n)taaveh aaio saran tuhaare ||1||
They are tormenting and torturing me. I have come, seeking Your Sanctuary. ||1||
