Gauree, Fifth Mehla:
ਮਾਤੋ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਮਾਤੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
maato har ra(n)g maato ||1|| rahaau ||
I am intoxicated, intoxicated with the Love of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਓੁਹੀ ਪੀਓ ਓੁਹੀ ਖੀਓ ਗੁਰਹਿ ਦੀਓ ਦਾਨੁ ਕੀਓ ॥
ouhee peeo ouhee kheeo gureh dheeo dhaan keeo ||
I drink it in - I am drunk with it. The Guru has given it to me in charity.
ਉਆਹੂ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤੋ ॥੧॥
auaahoo siau man raato ||1||
My mind is drenched with it. ||1||
ਓੁਹੀ ਭਾਠੀ ਓੁਹੀ ਪੋਚਾ ਉਹੀ ਪਿਆਰੋ ਉਹੀ ਰੂਚਾ ॥
ouhee bhaaThee ouhee pochaa uhee piaaro uhee roochaa ||
It is my furnace, it is the cooling plaster. It is my love, it is my longing.
ਮਨਿ ਓਹੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਜਾਤੋ ॥੨॥
man oho sukh jaato ||2||
My mind knows it as peace. ||2||
ਸਹਜ ਕੇਲ ਅਨਦ ਖੇਲ ਰਹੇ ਫੇਰ ਭਏ ਮੇਲ ॥
sahaj kel anadh khel rahe fer bhe mel ||
I enjoy intuitive peace, and I play in bliss; the cycle of reincarnation is ended for me, and I am merged with the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਰਾਤੋ ॥੩॥੪॥੧੫੭॥
naanak gur sabadh paraato ||3||4||157||
Nanak is pierced through with the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||3||4||157||

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੇਹੁ ਮੀਤਾ ਲੇਹੁ ਆਗੈ ਬਿਖਮ ਪੰਥੁ ਭੈਆਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har naam leh meetaa leh aagai bikham pa(n)th bhaiaan ||1|| rahaau ||
Chant the Lord's Name; O my friend, chant it. Hereafter, the path is terrifying and treacherous. ||1||Pause||
ਸੇਵਤ ਸੇਵਤ ਸਦਾ ਸੇਵਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਸਤੁ ਹੈ ਕਾਲੁ ॥
sevat sevat sadhaa sev terai sa(n)g basat hai kaal ||
Serve, serve, forever serve the Lord. Death hangs over your head.
ਕਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਹੋ ਕਾਟੀਐ ਜਮ ਜਾਲੁ ॥੧॥
kar sevaa too(n) saadh kee ho kaaTeeaai jam jaal ||1||
Do seva, selfless service, for the Holy Saints, and the noose of Death shall be cut away. ||1||
ਹੋਮ ਜਗ ਤੀਰਥ ਕੀਏ ਬਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਧੇ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
hom jag teerath ke'ee bich haumai badhe bikaar ||
You may make burnt offerings, sacrificial feasts and pilgrimages to sacred shrines in egotism, but your corruption only increases.
ਨਰਕੁ ਸੁਰਗੁ ਦੁਇ ਭੁੰਚਨਾ ਹੋਇ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਅਵਤਾਰ ॥੨॥
narak surag dhui bhu(n)chanaa hoi bahur bahur avataar ||2||
You are subject to both heaven and hell, and you are reincarnated over and over again. ||2||
ਸਿਵ ਪੁਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਪੁਰੀ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਕੋ ਥਾਉ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
siv puree braham i(n)dhr puree nihachal ko thaau naeh ||
The realm of Shiva, the realms of Brahma and Indra as well - no place anywhere is permanent.
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਹੋ ਸਾਕਤ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
bin har sevaa sukh nahee ho saakat aaveh jaeh ||3||
Without serving the Lord, there is no peace at all. The faithless cynic comes and goes in reincarnation. ||3||
ਜੈਸੋ ਗੁਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਮੈ ਤੈਸੋ ਕਹਿਆ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ॥
jaiso gur upadhesiaa mai taiso kahiaa pukaar ||
As the Guru has taught me, so have I spoken.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਹੈ ਸੁਨਿ ਰੇ ਮਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੫੮॥
naanak kahai sun re manaa kar keeratan hoi udhaar ||4||1||158||
Says Nanak, listen, people: sing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, and you shall be saved. ||4||1||158||

ਪਾਇਓ ਬਾਲ ਬੁਧਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਰੇ ॥

Adopting the innocent mind of a child, I have found peace.
ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਹਾਨਿ ਮਿਰਤੁ ਦੂਖ ਸੁਖ ਚਿਤਿ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
harakh sog haan mrit dhookh sukh chit samasar gur mile ||1|| rahaau ||
Joy and sorrow, profit and loss, birth and death, pain and pleasure - they are all the same to my consciousness, since I met the Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਜਉ ਲਉ ਹਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੋਚਉ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਤਉ ਲਉ ਦੁਖਨੁ ਭਰੇ ॥
jau lau hau kichh sochau chitavau tau lau dhukhan bhare ||
As long as I plotted and planned things, I was full of frustration.
ਜਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਤਉ ਆਨਦ ਸਹਜੇ ॥੧॥
jau kirapaal gur pooraa bheTiaa tau aanadh sahaje ||1||
When I met the Kind, Perfect Guru, then I obtained bliss so easily. ||1||
ਜੇਤੀ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਕਰਮ ਹਉ ਕੀਏ ਤੇਤੇ ਬੰਧ ਪਰੇ ॥
jetee siaanap karam hau ke'ee tete ba(n)dh pare ||
The more clever tricks I tried, the more bonds I was saddled with.
ਜਉ ਸਾਧੂ ਕਰੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਧਰਿਓ ਤਬ ਹਮ ਮੁਕਤ ਭਏ ॥੨॥
jau saadhoo kar masatak dhario tab ham mukat bhe ||2||
When the Holy Saint placed His Hand upon my forehead, then I was liberated. ||2||
ਜਉ ਲਉ ਮੇਰੋ ਮੇਰੋ ਕਰਤੋ ਤਉ ਲਉ ਬਿਖੁ ਘੇਰੇ ॥
jau lau mero mero karato tau lau bikh ghere ||
As long as I claimed, ""Mine, mine!"", I was surrounded by wickedness and corruption.
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਬੁਧਿ ਅਰਪੀ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਉ ਤਬ ਹਮ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੋਏ ॥੩॥
man tan budh arapee Thaakur kau tab ham sahaj soe ||3||
But when I dedicated my mind, body and intellect to my Lord and Master, then I began to sleep in peace. ||3||
ਜਉ ਲਉ ਪੋਟ ਉਠਾਈ ਚਲਿਅਉ ਤਉ ਲਉ ਡਾਨ ਭਰੇ ॥
jau lau poT uThaiee chaliaau tau lau ddaan bhare ||
As long as I walked along, carrying the load, I continued to pay the fine.
ਪੋਟ ਡਾਰਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਤਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਰਭਏ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੫੯॥
poT ddaar gur pooraa miliaa tau naanak nirabhe ||4||1||159||
But I threw away that bundle, when I met the Perfect Guru; O Nanak, then I became fearless. ||4||1||159||
ਗਉੜੀ ਮਾਲਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
gauRee maalaa mahalaa panjavaa ||
Gauree Maalaa, Fifth Mehla:
ਭਾਵਨੁ ਤਿਆਗਿਓ ਰੀ ਤਿਆਗਿਓ ॥
bhaavan tiaagio ree tiaagio ||
I have renounced my desires; I have renounced them.
ਤਿਆਗਿਓ ਮੈ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਤਿਆਗਿਓ ॥
tiaagio mai gur mil tiaagio ||
I have renounced them; meeting the Guru, I have renounced them.
ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਰਸ ਮਾਨਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੈ ਆਗਿਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sarab sukh aana(n)dh ma(n)gal ras maan gobi(n)dhai aagio ||1|| rahaau ||
All peace, joy, happiness and pleasures have come since I surrendered to the Will of the Lord of the Universe. ||1||Pause||
