ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਹਿ ਮੇਲੇ ॥੪॥

O Nanak, the Lord God unites him with Himself. ||4||
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਅਨੰਦ ॥
saadhasa(n)g mil karahu ana(n)dh ||
Join the Company of the Holy, and be happy.
ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ॥
gun gaavahu prabh paramaana(n)dh ||
Sing the Glories of God, the embodiment of supreme bliss.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਤਤੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
raam naam tat karahu beechaar ||
Contemplate the essence of the Lord's Name.
ਦ੍ਰੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਕਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
dhrulabh dheh kaa karahu udhaar ||
Redeem this human body, so difficult to obtain.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਚਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ॥
a(n)mirat bachan har ke gun gaau ||
Sing the Ambrosial Words of the Lord's Glorious Praises;
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤਰਨ ਕਾ ਇਹੈ ਸੁਆਉ ॥
praan taran kaa ihai suaau ||
this is the way to save your mortal soul.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੇਖਹੁ ਨੇਰਾ ॥
aaTh pahar prabh pekhahu neraa ||
Behold God near at hand, twenty-four hours a day.
ਮਿਟੈ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ॥
miTai agiaan binasai a(n)dheraa ||
Ignorance shall depart, and darkness shall be dispelled.
ਸੁਨਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸਾਵਹੁ ॥
sun upadhes hiradhai basaavahu ||
Listen to the Teachings, and enshrine them in your heart.
ਮਨ ਇਛੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥੫॥
man ichhe naanak fal paavahu ||5||
O Nanak, you shall obtain the fruits of your mind's desires. ||5||
ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਦੁਇ ਲੇਹੁ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥
halat palat dhui leh savaar ||
Embellish both this world and the next;
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
raam naam a(n)tar ur dhaar ||
enshrine the Lord's Name deep within your heart.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਦੀਖਿਆ ॥
poore gur kee pooree dheekhiaa ||
Perfect are the Teachings of the Perfect Guru.
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਰੀਖਿਆ ॥
jis man basai tis saach pareekhiaa ||
That person, within whose mind it abides, realizes the Truth.
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
man tan naam japahu liv lai ||
With your mind and body, chant the Naam; lovingly attune yourself to it.
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਭਉ ਜਾਇ ॥
dhookh dharadh man te bhau jai ||
Sorrow, pain and fear shall depart from your mind.
ਸਚੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ॥
sach vaapaar karahu vaapaaree ||
Deal in the true trade, O trader,
ਦਰਗਹ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਖੇਪ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥
dharageh nibahai khep tumaaree ||
and your merchandise shall be safe in the Court of the Lord.
ਏਕਾ ਟੇਕ ਰਖਹੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
ekaa Tek rakhahu man maeh ||
Keep the Support of the One in your mind.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੬॥
naanak bahur na aaveh jaeh ||6||
O Nanak, you shall not have to come and go in reincarnation again. ||6||
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਹਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਇ ॥
tis te dhoor kahaa ko jai ||
Where can anyone go, to get away from Him?
ਉਬਰੈ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
aubarai raakhanahaar dhiaai ||
Meditating on the Protector Lord, you shall be saved.
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਜਪੈ ਸਗਲ ਭਉ ਮਿਟੈ ॥
nirabhau japai sagal bhau miTai ||
Meditating on the Fearless Lord, all fear departs.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਛੁਟੈ ॥
prabh kirapaa te praanee chhuTai ||
By God's Grace, mortals are released.
ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੂਖ ॥
jis prabh raakhai tis naahee dhookh ||
One who is protected by God never suffers in pain.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਵਤ ਸੂਖ ॥
naam japat man hovat sookh ||
Chanting the Naam, the mind becomes peaceful.
ਚਿੰਤਾ ਜਾਇ ਮਿਟੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
chi(n)taa jai miTai aha(n)kaar ||
Anxiety departs, and ego is eliminated.
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਪਹੁਚਨਹਾਰੁ ॥
tis jan kau koi na pahuchanahaar ||
No one can equal that humble servant.
ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਠਾਢਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੂਰਾ ॥
sir uoopar Thaaddaa gur sooraa ||
The Brave and Powerful Guru stands over his head.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਪੂਰਾ ॥੭॥
naanak taa ke kaaraj pooraa ||7||
O Nanak, his efforts are fulfilled. ||7||
ਮਤਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ॥
mat pooree a(n)mrit jaa kee dhirasaT ||
His wisdom is perfect, and His Glance is Ambrosial.
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪੇਖਤ ਉਧਰਤ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ॥
dharasan pekhat udharat sirasaT ||
Beholding His Vision, the universe is saved.
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਅਨੂਪ ॥
charan kamal jaa ke anoop ||
His Lotus Feet are incomparably beautiful.
ਸਫਲ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹਰਿ ਰੂਪ ॥
safal dharasan su(n)dhar har roop ||
The Blessed Vision of His Darshan is fruitful and rewarding; His Lordly Form is beautiful.
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥
dha(n)n sevaa sevak paravaan ||
Blessed is His service; His servant is famous.
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨੁ ॥
a(n)tarajaamee purakh pradhaan ||
The Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, is the most exalted Supreme Being.
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਤ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ॥
jis man basai su hot nihaal ||
That one, within whose mind He abides, is blissfully happy.
ਤਾ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਆਵਤ ਕਾਲੁ ॥
taa kai nikaT na aavat kaal ||
Death does not draw near him.
ਅਮਰ ਭਏ ਅਮਰਾ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
amar bhe amaraa padh paiaa ||
One becomes immortal, and obtains the immortal status,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੮॥੨੨॥
saadhasa(n)g naanak har dhiaaiaa ||8||22||
meditating on the Lord, O Nanak, in the Company of the Holy. ||8||22||

ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਧੇਰ ਬਿਨਾਸੁ ॥
giaan a(n)jan gur dheeaa agiaan a(n)dher binaas ||
The Guru has given the healing ointment of spiritual wisdom, and dispelled the darkness of ignorance.
ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
har kirapaa te sa(n)t bheTiaa naanak man paragaas ||1||
By the Lord's Grace, I have met the Saint; O Nanak, my mind is enlightened. ||1||

Ashtapadee:
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਡੀਠਾ ॥
sa(n)tasa(n)g a(n)tar prabh ddeeThaa ||
In the Society of the Saints, I see God deep within my being.
ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਾ ਲਾਗਾ ਮੀਠਾ ॥
naam prabhoo kaa laagaa meeThaa ||
God's Name is sweet to me.
ਸਗਲ ਸਮਿਗ੍ਰੀ ਏਕਸੁ ਘਟ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
sagal samigree ekas ghaT maeh ||
All things are contained in the Heart of the One,
ਅਨਿਕ ਰੰਗ ਨਾਨਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਹਿ ॥
anik ra(n)g naanaa dhirasaTaeh ||
although they appear in so many various colors.
ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
nau nidh a(n)mrit prabh kaa naam ||
The nine treasures are in the Ambrosial Name of God.
ਦੇਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਇਸ ਕਾ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥
dhehee meh is kaa bisraam ||
Within the human body is its place of rest.
ਸੁੰਨ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਅਨਹਤ ਤਹ ਨਾਦ ॥
su(n)n samaadh anahat teh naadh ||
The Deepest Samaadhi, and the unstruck sound current of the Naad are there.
ਕਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਅਚਰਜ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥
kahan na jaiee acharaj bisamaadh ||
The wonder and marvel of it cannot be described.
ਤਿਨਿ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਦਿਖਾਏ ॥
tin dhekhiaa jis aap dhikhaae ||
He alone sees it, unto whom God Himself reveals it.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥
naanak tis jan sojhee paae ||1||
O Nanak, that humble being understands. ||1||
ਸੋ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸੋ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਅਨੰਤ ॥
so a(n)tar so baahar ana(n)t ||
The Infinite Lord is inside, and outside as well.
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਬਿਆਪਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥
ghaT ghaT biaap rahiaa bhagava(n)t ||
Deep within each and every heart, the Lord God is pervading.
ਧਰਨਿ ਮਾਹਿ ਆਕਾਸ ਪਇਆਲ ॥
dharan maeh aakaas piaal ||
In the earth, in the Akaashic ethers, and in the nether regions of the underworld
ਸਰਬ ਲੋਕ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥
sarab lok pooran pratipaal ||
in all worlds, He is the Perfect Cherisher.
