ਕਉਨੁ ਕੋ ਪੂਤੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੋ ਕਾ ਕੋ ॥
kaun ko poot pitaa ko kaa ko ||
Whose son is he? Whose father is he?
ਕਉਨੁ ਮਰੈ ਕੋ ਦੇਇ ਸੰਤਾਪੋ ॥੧॥
kaun marai ko dhei sa(n)taapo ||1||
Who dies? Who inflicts pain? ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਠਗ ਜਗ ਕਉ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਲਾਈ ॥
har Thag jag kau Thagauree laiee ||
The Lord is the thug, who has drugged and robbed the whole world.
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਬਿਓਗ ਕੈਸੇ ਜੀਅਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har ke biog kaise jeeaau meree maiee ||1|| rahaau ||
I am separated from the Lord; how can I survive, O my mother? ||1||Pause||
ਕਉਨ ਕੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਕਉਨ ਕੀ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
kaun ko purakh kaun kee naaree ||
Whose husband is he? Whose wife is she?
ਇਆ ਤਤ ਲੇਹੁ ਸਰੀਰ ਬਿਚਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
eiaa tat leh sareer bichaaree ||2||
Contemplate this reality within your body. ||2||
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਠਗ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
keh kabeer Thag siau man maaniaa ||
Says Kabeer, my mind is pleased and satisfied with the thug.
ਗਈ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਠਗੁ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਿਆ ॥੩॥੩੯॥
giee Thagauree Thag pahichaaniaa ||3||39||
The effects of the drug have vanished, since I recognized the thug. ||3||39||
ਅਬ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਭਏ ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
ab mo kau bhe raajaa raam sahaiee ||
Now, the Lord, my King, has become my help and support.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕਟਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
janam maran kaT param gat paiee ||1|| rahaau ||
I have cut away birth and death, and attained the supreme status. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀਓ ਰਲਾਇ ॥
saadhoo sa(n)gat dheeo ralai ||
He has united me with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਤੇ ਲੀਓ ਛਡਾਇ ॥
pa(n)ch dhoot te leeo chhaddai ||
He has rescued me from the five demons.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਉ ਜਪੁ ਰਸਨਾ ॥
a(n)mirat naam japau jap rasanaa ||
I chant with my tongue and meditate on the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਅਮੋਲ ਦਾਸੁ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਨੋ ਅਪਨਾ ॥੧॥
amol dhaas kar leeno apanaa ||1||
He has made me his own slave. ||1||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀਨੋ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੁ ॥
satigur keeno paraupakaar ||
The True Guru has blessed me with His generosity.
ਕਾਢਿ ਲੀਨ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥
kaadd leen saagar sa(n)saar ||
He has lifted me up, out of the world-ocean.
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
charan kamal siau laagee preet ||
I have fallen in love with His Lotus Feet.
ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਬਸੈ ਨਿਤਾ ਨਿਤ ਚੀਤ ॥੨॥
gobi(n)dh basai nitaa nit cheet ||2||
The Lord of the Universe dwells continually within my consciousness. ||2||
ਮਾਇਆ ਤਪਤਿ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਅੰਗਿਆਰੁ ॥
maiaa tapat bujhiaa a(n)giaar ||
The burning fire of Maya has been extinguished.
ਮਨਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
man sa(n)tokh naam aadhaar ||
My mind is contented with the Support of the Naam.
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
jal thal poor rahe prabh suaamee ||
God, the Lord and Master, is totally permeating the water and the land.
ਜਤ ਪੇਖਉ ਤਤ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੩॥
jat pekhau tat a(n)tarajaamee ||3||
Wherever I look, there is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. ||3||
ਅਪਨੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਈ ॥
apanee bhagat aap hee dhiraRaiee ||
He Himself has implanted His devotional worship within me.
ਪੂਰਬ ਲਿਖਤੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
poorab likhat miliaa mere bhaiee ||
By pre-ordained destiny, one meets Him, O my Siblings of Destiny.
ਜਿਸੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਾਜ ॥
jis kirapaa kare tis pooran saaj ||
When He grants His Grace, one is perfectly fulfilled.
ਕਬੀਰ ਕੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਗਰੀਬ ਨਿਵਾਜ ॥੪॥੪੦॥
kabeer ko suaamee gareeb nivaaj ||4||40||
Kabeer's Lord and Master is the Cherisher of the poor. ||4||40||
ਜਲਿ ਹੈ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਥਲਿ ਹੈ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਸੂਤਕ ਓਪਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥
jal hai sootak thal hai sootak sootak opat hoiee ||
There is pollution in the water, and pollution on the land; whatever is born is polluted.
ਜਨਮੇ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਮੂਏ ਫੁਨਿ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਸੂਤਕ ਪਰਜ ਬਿਗੋਈ ॥੧॥
janame sootak mooe fun sootak sootak paraj bigoiee ||1||
There is pollution in birth, and more pollution in death; all beings are ruined by pollution. ||1||
ਕਹੁ ਰੇ ਪੰਡੀਆ ਕਉਨ ਪਵੀਤਾ ॥
kahu re pa(n)ddeeaa kaun paveetaa ||
Tell me, O Pandit, O religious scholar: who is clean and pure?
ਐਸਾ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aaisaa giaan japahu mere meetaa ||1|| rahaau ||
Meditate on such spiritual wisdom, O my friend. ||1||Pause||
ਨੈਨਹੁ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਬੈਨਹੁ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਨੀ ਹੋਈ ॥
nainahu sootak bainahu sootak sootak sravanee hoiee ||
There is pollution in the eyes, and pollution in speech; there is pollution in the ears as well.
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਪਰੈ ਰਸੋਈ ॥੨॥
uooThat baiThat sootak laagai sootak parai rasoiee ||2||
Standing up and sitting down, one is polluted; one's kitchen is polluted as well. ||2||
ਫਾਸਨ ਕੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਊ ਜਾਨੈ ਛੂਟਨ ਕੀ ਇਕੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
faasan kee bidh sabh kouoo jaanai chhooTan kee ik koiee ||
Everyone knows how to be caught, but hardly anyone knows how to escape.
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਬਿਚਾਰੈ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਤਿਨੈ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੩॥੪੧॥
keh kabeer raam ridhai bichaarai sootak tinai na hoiee ||3||41||
Says Kabeer, those who meditate on the Lord within their hearts, are not polluted. ||3||41||

Gauree:
ਝਗਰਾ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਬੇਰਹੁ ਰਾਮ ॥
jhagaraa ek niberahu raam ||
Resolve this one conflict for me, O Lord,
ਜਉ ਤੁਮ ਅਪਨੇ ਜਨ ਸੌ ਕਾਮੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jau tum apane jan sau kaam ||1|| rahaau ||
if you require any work from Your humble servant. ||1||Pause||
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਬਡਾ ਕਿ ਜਾ ਸਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
eih man baddaa k jaa sau man maaniaa ||
Is this mind greater, or the One to whom the mind is attuned?
ਰਾਮੁ ਬਡਾ ਕੈ ਰਾਮਹਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥੧॥
raam baddaa kai raameh jaaniaa ||1||
Is the Lord greater, or one who knows the Lord? ||1||
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਡਾ ਕਿ ਜਾਸੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
brahamaa baddaa k jaas upaiaa ||
Is Brahma greater, or the One who created Him?
ਬੇਦੁ ਬਡਾ ਕਿ ਜਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਇਆ ॥੨॥
bedh baddaa k jahaa(n) te aaiaa ||2||
Are the Vedas greater, or the One from which they came? ||2||
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਹਉ ਭਇਆ ਉਦਾਸੁ ॥
keh kabeer hau bhiaa udhaas ||
Says Kabeer, I have become depressed;
ਤੀਰਥੁ ਬਡਾ ਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਦਾਸੁ ॥੩॥੪੨॥
teerath baddaa k har kaa dhaas ||3||42||
is the sacred shrine of pilgrimage greater, or the slave of the Lord? ||3||42||
ਰਾਗੁ ਗਉੜੀ ਚੇਤੀ ॥
raag gauRee chetee ||
Raag Gauree Chaytee:
ਦੇਖੌ ਭਾਈ ਗੵਾਨ ਕੀ ਆਈ ਆਂਧੀ ॥
dhekhau bhaiee gayeaan kee aaiee aa(n)dhee ||
Behold, O Siblings of Destiny, the storm of spiritual wisdom has come.
ਸਭੈ ਉਡਾਨੀ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕੀ ਟਾਟੀ ਰਹੈ ਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਬਾਂਧੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sabhai uddaanee bhram kee TaaTee rahai na maiaa baa(n)dhee ||1|| rahaau ||
It has totally blown away the thatched huts of doubt, and torn apart the bonds of Maya. ||1||Pause||
ਦੁਚਿਤੇ ਕੀ ਦੁਇ ਥੂਨਿ ਗਿਰਾਨੀ ਮੋਹ ਬਲੇਡਾ ਟੂਟਾ ॥
dhuchite kee dhui thoon giraanee moh baleddaa TooTaa ||
The two pillars of double-mindedness have fallen, and the beams of emotional attachment have come crashing down.
ਤਿਸਨਾ ਛਾਨਿ ਪਰੀ ਧਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਭਾਂਡਾ ਫੂਟਾ ॥੧॥
tisanaa chhaan paree dhar uoopar dhuramat bhaa(n)ddaa fooTaa ||1||
The thatched roof of greed has caved in, and the pitcher of evil-mindedness has been broken. ||1||
