By Your Power, You have set this false contrivance in motion. ||2||
ਕਿਨਹੂ ਲਾਖ ਪਾਂਚ ਕੀ ਜੋਰੀ ॥
kinahoo laakh paa(n)ch kee joree ||
Some collect hundreds of thousands of dollars,
ਅੰਤ ਕੀ ਬਾਰ ਗਗਰੀਆ ਫੋਰੀ ॥੩॥
a(n)t kee baar gagareeaa foree ||3||
but in the end, the pitcher of the body bursts. ||3||
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਇਕ ਨੀਵ ਉਸਾਰੀ ॥
keh kabeer ik neev usaaree ||
Says Kabeer, that single foundation which you have laid
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੧॥੯॥੬੦॥
khin meh binas jai aha(n)kaaree ||4||1||9||60||
will be destroyed in an instant - you are so egotistical. ||4||1||9||60||

Gauree:
ਰਾਮ ਜਪਉ ਜੀਅ ਐਸੇ ਐਸੇ ॥ ਧ੍ਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ਜਪਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਜੈਸੇ ॥੧॥
raam japau jeea aaise aaise || dhraoo prahilaadh japio har jaise ||1||
Just as Dhroo and Prahlaad meditated on the Lord, so should you meditate on the Lord, O my soul. ||1||
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਭਰੋਸੇ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
dheen dhiaal bharose tere ||
O Lord, Merciful to the meek, I have placed my faith in You;
ਸਭੁ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ਚੜਾਇਆ ਬੇੜੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sabh paravaar chaRaiaa beRe ||1|| rahaau ||
along with all my family, I have come aboard Your boat. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮਨਾਵੈ ॥
jaa tis bhaavai taa hukam manaavai ||
When it is pleasing to Him, then He inspires us to obey the Hukam of His Command.
ਇਸ ਬੇੜੇ ਕਉ ਪਾਰਿ ਲਘਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
eis beRe kau paar laghaavai ||2||
He causes this boat to cross over. ||2||
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਐਸੀ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥
gur parasaadh aaisee budh samaanee ||
By Guru's Grace, such understanding is infused into me;
ਚੂਕਿ ਗਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਨ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੩॥
chook giee fir aavan jaanee ||3||
my comings and goings in reincarnation have ended. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਭਜੁ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਨੀ ॥
kahu kabeer bhaj saarigapaanee ||
Says Kabeer, meditate, vibrate upon the Lord, the Sustainer of the earth.
ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਸਭ ਏਕੋ ਦਾਨੀ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੦॥੬੧॥
auravaar paar sabh eko dhaanee ||4||2||10||61||
In this world, in the world beyond and everywhere, He alone is the Giver. ||4||2||10||61||

ਜੋਨਿ ਛਾਡਿ ਜਉ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਓ ॥
jon chhaadd jau jag meh aaio ||
He leaves the womb, and comes into the world;
ਲਾਗਤ ਪਵਨ ਖਸਮੁ ਬਿਸਰਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
laagat pavan khasam bisaraio ||1||
as soon as the air touches him, he forgets his Lord and Master. ||1||
ਜੀਅਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਨਾ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jeearaa har ke gunaa gaau ||1|| rahaau ||
O my soul, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਉਰਧ ਤਪੁ ਕਰਤਾ ॥
garabh jon meh uradh tap karataa ||
You were upside-down, living in the womb; you generated the intense meditative heat of 'tapas'.
ਤਉ ਜਠਰ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਤਾ ॥੨॥
tau jaThar agan meh rahataa ||2||
Then, you escaped the fire of the belly. ||2||
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਆਇਓ ॥
lakh chauraaseeh jon bhram aaio ||
After wandering through 8.4 million incarnations, you came.
ਅਬ ਕੇ ਛੁਟਕੇ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਠਾਇਓ ॥੩॥
ab ke chhuTake Thaur na Thaio ||3||
If you stumble and fall now, you shall find no home or place of rest. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਭਜੁ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਨੀ ॥
kahu kabeer bhaj saarigapaanee ||
Says Kabeer, meditate, vibrate upon the Lord, the Sustainer of the earth.
ਆਵਤ ਦੀਸੈ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੧॥੬੨॥
aavat dheesai jaat na jaanee ||4||1||11||62||
He is not seen to be coming or going; He is the Knower of all. ||4||1||11||62||

Gauree Poorbee:
ਸੁਰਗ ਬਾਸੁ ਨ ਬਾਛੀਐ ਡਰੀਐ ਨ ਨਰਕਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
surag baas na baachheeaai ddareeaai na narak nivaas ||
Don't wish for a home in heaven, and don't be afraid to live in hell.
ਹੋਨਾ ਹੈ ਸੋ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਮਨਹਿ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ਆਸ ॥੧॥
honaa hai so hoiee hai maneh na keejai aas ||1||
Whatever will be will be, so don't get your hopes up in your mind. ||1||
ਰਮਈਆ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
ramieeaa gun gaieeaai ||
Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord,
ਜਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਪਰਮ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaa te paieeaai param nidhaan ||1|| rahaau ||
from whom the most excellent treasure is obtained. ||1||Pause||
ਕਿਆ ਜਪੁ ਕਿਆ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੋ ਕਿਆ ਬਰਤੁ ਕਿਆ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
kiaa jap kiaa tap sa(n)jamo kiaa barat kiaa isanaan ||
What good is chanting, penance or self-mortification? What good is fasting or cleansing baths,
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਨੀਐ ਭਾਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੨॥
jab lag jugat na jaaneeaai bhaau bhagat bhagavaan ||2||
unless you know the way to worship the Lord God with loving devotion? ||2||
ਸੰਪੈ ਦੇਖਿ ਨ ਹਰਖੀਐ ਬਿਪਤਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਨ ਰੋਇ ॥
sa(n)pai dhekh na harakheeaai bipat dhekh na roi ||
Don't feel so delighted at the sight of wealth, and don't weep at the sight of suffering and adversity.
ਜਿਉ ਸੰਪੈ ਤਿਉ ਬਿਪਤਿ ਹੈ ਬਿਧ ਨੇ ਰਚਿਆ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
jiau sa(n)pai tiau bipat hai bidh ne rachiaa so hoi ||3||
As is wealth, so is adversity; whatever the Lord proposes, comes to pass. ||3||
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਅਬ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਸੰਤਨ ਰਿਦੈ ਮਝਾਰਿ ॥
keh kabeer ab jaaniaa sa(n)tan ridhai majhaar ||
Says Kabeer, now I know that the Lord dwells within the hearts of His Saints;
ਸੇਵਕ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਾ ਭਲੇ ਜਿਹ ਘਟ ਬਸੈ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੨॥੬੩॥
sevak so sevaa bhale jeh ghaT basai muraar ||4||1||12||63||
that servant performs the best service, whose heart is filled with the Lord. ||4||1||12||63||

Gauree:
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਤੇਰੋ ਕੋਇ ਨਹੀ ਖਿੰਚਿ ਲੇਇ ਜਿਨਿ ਭਾਰੁ ॥
re man tero koi nahee khi(n)ch lei jin bhaar ||
O my mind, even if you carry someone's burden, they don't belong to you.
ਬਿਰਖ ਬਸੇਰੋ ਪੰਖਿ ਕੋ ਤੈਸੋ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
birakh basero pa(n)kh ko taiso ih sa(n)saar ||1||
This world is like the perch of the bird on the tree. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਆ ਰੇ ॥
raam ras peeaa re ||
I drink in the sublime essence of the Lord.
ਜਿਹ ਰਸ ਬਿਸਰਿ ਗਏ ਰਸ ਅਉਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jeh ras bisar ge ras aaur ||1|| rahaau ||
With the taste of this essence, I have forgotten all other tastes. ||1||Pause||
ਅਉਰ ਮੁਏ ਕਿਆ ਰੋਈਐ ਜਉ ਆਪਾ ਥਿਰੁ ਨ ਰਹਾਇ ॥
aaur mue kiaa roieeaai jau aapaa thir na rahai ||
Why should we weep at the death of others, when we ourselves are not permanent?
ਜੋ ਉਪਜੈ ਸੋ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਹੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਰਿ ਰੋਵੈ ਬਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
jo upajai so binas hai dhukh kar rovai balai ||2||
Whoever is born shall pass away; why should we cry out in grief? ||2||
ਜਹ ਕੀ ਉਪਜੀ ਤਹ ਰਚੀ ਪੀਵਤ ਮਰਦਨ ਲਾਗ ॥
jeh kee upajee teh rachee peevat maradhan laag ||
We are re-absorbed into the One from whom we came; drink in the Lord's essence, and remain attached to Him.
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਚਿਤਿ ਚੇਤਿਆ ਰਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਬੈਰਾਗ ॥੩॥੨॥੧੩॥੬੪॥
keh kabeer chit chetiaa raam simar bairaag ||3||2||13||64||
Says Kabeer, my consciousness is filled with thoughts of remembrance of the Lord; I have become detached from the world. ||3||2||13||64||

ਪੰਥੁ ਨਿਹਾਰੈ ਕਾਮਨੀ ਲੋਚਨ ਭਰੀ ਲੇ ਉਸਾਸਾ ॥

The bride gazes at the path, and sighs with tearful eyes.
