ਲਾਲ ਜਵੇਹਰ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
laal javehar bhare bha(n)ddaar ||
My treasure-house is overflowing with rubies and jewels;
ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥
toT na aavai jap nira(n)kaar ||
I meditate on the Formless Lord, and so they never run short.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਬਦੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
a(n)mirat sabadh peevai jan koi ||
How rare is that humble being, who drinks in the Ambrosial Nectar of the Word of the Shabad.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥੪੧॥੯੨॥
naanak taa kee param gat hoi ||2||41||92||
O Nanak, he attains the state of highest dignity. ||2||41||92||
ਆਸਾ ਘਰੁ ੭ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
aasaa ghar satvaa mahalaa panjavaa ||
Aasaa, Seventh House, Fifth Mehla:
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਨਿਤ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
har kaa naam ridhai nit dhiaaiee ||
Meditate continually on the Name of the Lord within your heart.
ਸੰਗੀ ਸਾਥੀ ਸਗਲ ਤਰਾਂਈ ॥੧॥
sa(n)gee saathee sagal taraa(n)iee ||1||
Thus you shall save all your companions and associates. ||1||
ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
gur merai sa(n)g sadhaa hai naale ||
My Guru is always with me, near at hand.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਮੑਾਲੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
simar simar tis sadhaa sam(h)aale ||1|| rahaau ||
Meditating, meditating in remembrance on Him, I cherish Him forever. ||1||Pause||
ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
teraa keeaa meeThaa laagai ||
Your actions seem so sweet to me.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮਾਂਗੈ ॥੨॥੪੨॥੯੩॥
har naam padhaarath naanak maa(n)gai ||2||42||93||
Nanak begs for the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||42||93||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
aasaa mahalaa panjavaa ||
Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਤਰਿਆ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
saadhoo sa(n)gat tariaa sa(n)saar ||
The world is saved by the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਹਿ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
har kaa naam maneh aadhaar ||1||
The Name of the Lord is the Support of the mind. ||1||
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
charan kamal gurdhev piaare ||
The Saints worship and adore the Lotus Feet of the Divine Guru;
ਪੂਜਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
poojeh sa(n)t har preet piaare ||1|| rahaau ||
they love the Beloved Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਭਾਗੁ ॥
jaa kai masatak likhiaa bhaag ||
She who has such good destiny written upon her forehead,
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਥਿਰੁ ਸੋਹਾਗੁ ॥੨॥੪੩॥੯੪॥
kahu naanak taa kaa thir sohaag ||2||43||94||
says Nanak, is blessed with the eternal happy marriage with the Lord. ||2||43||94||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:
ਮੀਠੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਪਿਰ ਕੀ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
meeThee aagiaa pir kee laagee ||
The Order of my Husband Lord seems so sweet to me.
ਸਉਕਨਿ ਘਰ ਕੀ ਕੰਤਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥
saukan ghar kee ka(n)t tiaagee ||
My Husband Lord has driven out the one who was my rival.
ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਸੀਗਾਰਿ ਕਰੀ ॥
pria sohaagan seegaar karee ||
My Beloved Husband has decorated me, His happy soul-bride.
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਤਪਤਿ ਹਰੀ ॥੧॥
man mere kee tapat haree ||1||
He has quieted the burning thirst of my mind. ||1||
ਭਲੋ ਭਇਓ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਕਹਿਆ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
bhalo bhio pria kahiaa maaniaa ||
It is good that I submitted to the Will of my Beloved Lord.
ਸੂਖੁ ਸਹਜੁ ਇਸੁ ਘਰ ਕਾ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sookh sahaj is ghar kaa jaaniaa || rahaau ||
I have realized celestial peace and poise within this home of mine. ||Pause||
ਹਉ ਬੰਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਖਿਜਮਤਦਾਰ ॥
hau ba(n)dhee pria khijamatadhaar ||
I am the hand-maiden, the attendant of my Beloved Lord.
ਓਹੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
oh abinaasee agam apaar ||
He is eternal and imperishable, inaccessible and infinite.
ਲੇ ਪਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਝਲਉ ਪਾਏ ॥
le pakhaa pria jhalau paae ||
Holding the fan, sitting at His Feet, I wave it over my Beloved.
ਭਾਗਿ ਗਏ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਲਾਵੇ ॥੨॥
bhaag ge pa(n)ch dhoot laave ||2||
The five demons who tortured me have run away. ||2||
ਨਾ ਮੈ ਕੁਲੁ ਨਾ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤ ॥
naa mai kul naa sobhaava(n)t ||
I am not from a noble family, and I am not beautiful.
ਕਿਆ ਜਾਨਾ ਕਿਉ ਭਾਨੀ ਕੰਤ ॥
kiaa jaanaa kiau bhaanee ka(n)t ||
What do I know? Why am I pleasing to my Beloved?
ਮੋਹਿ ਅਨਾਥ ਗਰੀਬ ਨਿਮਾਨੀ ॥
moh anaath gareeb nimaanee ||
I am a poor orphan, destitute and dishonored.
ਕੰਤ ਪਕਰਿ ਹਮ ਕੀਨੀ ਰਾਨੀ ॥੩॥
ka(n)t pakar ham keenee raanee ||3||
My Husband took me in, and made me His queen. ||3||
ਜਬ ਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
jab mukh preetam saajan laagaa ||
When I saw my Beloved's face before me,
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਮੇਰਾ ਧਨੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਾ ॥
sookh sahaj meraa dhan sohaagaa ||
I became so happy and peaceful; my married life was blessed.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੋਰੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਾ ॥
kahu naanak moree pooran aasaa ||
Says Nanak, my desires are fulfilled.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੇਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਣਤਾਸਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੯੫॥
satigur melee prabh gunataasaa ||4||1||95||
The True Guru has united me with God, the treasure of excellence. ||4||1||95||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:
ਮਾਥੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰੂਰਿ ॥
maathai tirakuTee dhirasaT karoor ||
A frown creases her forehead, and her look is evil.
ਬੋਲੈ ਕਉੜਾ ਜਿਹਬਾ ਕੀ ਫੂੜਿ ॥
bolai kauRaa jihabaa kee fooR ||
Her speech is bitter, and her tongue is rude.
ਸਦਾ ਭੂਖੀ ਪਿਰੁ ਜਾਨੈ ਦੂਰਿ ॥੧॥
sadhaa bhookhee pir jaanai dhoor ||1||
She is always hungry, and she believes her Husband to be far away. ||1||
ਐਸੀ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਇਕ ਰਾਮਿ ਉਪਾਈ ॥
aaisee isatree ik raam upaiee ||
Such is Maya, the woman, which the One Lord has created.
ਉਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਖਾਇਆ ਹਮ ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aun sabh jag khaiaa ham gur raakhe mere bhaiee || rahaau ||
She is devouring the whole world, but the Guru has saved me, O my Siblings of Destiny. ||Pause||
ਪਾਇ ਠਗਉਲੀ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਜੋਹਿਆ ॥
pai Thagaulee sabh jag johiaa ||
Administering her poisons, she has overcome the whole world.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹਾਦੇਉ ਮੋਹਿਆ ॥
brahamaa bisan mahaadheau mohiaa ||
She has bewitched Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਗੇ ਸੇ ਸੋਹਿਆ ॥੨॥
gurmukh naam lage se sohiaa ||2||
Only those Gurmukhs who are attuned to the Naam are blessed. ||2||
ਵਰਤ ਨੇਮ ਕਰਿ ਥਾਕੇ ਪੁਨਹਚਰਨਾ ॥
varat nem kar thaake punahacharanaa ||
Performing fasts, religious observances and atonements, the mortals have grown weary.
ਤਟ ਤੀਰਥ ਭਵੇ ਸਭ ਧਰਨਾ ॥
taT teerath bhave sabh dharanaa ||
They wander over the entire planet, on pilgrimages to the banks of sacred rivers.
ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਜਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾ ॥੩॥
se ubare j satigur kee saranaa ||3||
But they alone are saved, who seek the Sanctuary of the True Guru. ||3||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਭੋ ਜਗੁ ਬਾਧਾ ॥
maiaa moh sabho jag baadhaa ||
Attached to Maya, the whole world is in bondage.
ਹਉਮੈ ਪਚੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂਰਾਖਾ ॥
haumai pachai manmukh mooraakhaa ||
The foolish self-willed manmukhs are consumed by their egotism.
ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਾਹ ਪਕਰਿ ਹਮ ਰਾਖਾ ॥੪॥੨॥੯੬॥
gur naanak baeh pakar ham raakhaa ||4||2||96||
Taking me by the arm, Guru Nanak has saved me. ||4||2||96||

ਸਰਬ ਦੂਖ ਜਬ ਬਿਸਰਹਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
sarab dhookh jab bisareh suaamee ||
Everything is painful, when one forgets the Lord Master.
ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ॥੧॥
e'eehaa uoohaa kaam na praanee ||1||
Here and hereafter, such a mortal is useless. ||1||
ਸੰਤ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧੵਾਇ ॥
sa(n)t tirapataase har har dhayeai ||
The Saints are satisfied, meditating on the Lord, Har, Har.
