ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਭਇਆ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੦੦॥
gur naanak jaa kau bhiaa dhiaalaa || so jan hoaa sadhaa nihaalaa ||4||6||100||
That humble being, O Nanak, unto whom the Guru grants His Mercy, is forever enraptured. ||4||6||100||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
aasaa mahalaa panjavaa ||
Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਾਚੈ ਦੀਆ ਭੇਜਿ ॥
satigur saachai dheeaa bhej ||
The True Guru has truly given a child.
ਚਿਰੁ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਸੰਜੋਗਿ ॥
chir jeevan upajiaa sa(n)jog ||
The long-lived one has been born to this destiny.
ਉਦਰੈ ਮਾਹਿ ਆਇ ਕੀਆ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
audharai maeh aai keeaa nivaas ||
He came to acquire a home in the womb,
ਮਾਤਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਿਗਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
maataa kai man bahut bigaas ||1||
and his mother's heart is so very glad. ||1||
ਜੰਮਿਆ ਪੂਤੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕਾ ॥
ja(n)miaa poot bhagat govi(n)dh kaa ||
A son is born - a devotee of the Lord of the Universe.
ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਆ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰ ਕਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
pragaTiaa sabh meh likhiaa dhur kaa || rahaau ||
This pre-ordained destiny has been revealed to all. ||Pause||
ਦਸੀ ਮਾਸੀ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਬਾਲਕ ਜਨਮੁ ਲੀਆ ॥
dhasee maasee hukam baalak janam leeaa ||
In the tenth month, by the Lord's Order, the baby has been born.
ਮਿਟਿਆ ਸੋਗੁ ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਥੀਆ ॥
miTiaa sog mahaa ana(n)dh theeaa ||
Sorrow is dispelled, and great joy has ensued.
ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸਖੀ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
gurbaanee sakhee ana(n)dh gaavai ||
The companions blissfully sing the songs of the Guru's Bani.
ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
saache saahib kai man bhaavai ||2||
This is pleasing to the Lord Master. ||2||
ਵਧੀ ਵੇਲਿ ਬਹੁ ਪੀੜੀ ਚਾਲੀ ॥
vadhee vel bahu peeRee chaalee ||
The vine has grown, and shall last for many generations.
ਧਰਮ ਕਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਬੰਧਿ ਬਹਾਲੀ ॥
dharam kalaa har ba(n)dh bahaalee ||
The Power of the Dharma has been firmly established by the Lord.
ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਿਵਾਇਆ ॥
man chi(n)dhiaa satiguroo dhivaiaa ||
That which my mind wishes for, the True Guru has granted.
ਭਏ ਅਚਿੰਤ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
bhe achi(n)t ek liv laiaa ||3||
I have become carefree, and I fix my attention on the One Lord. ||3||
ਜਿਉ ਬਾਲਕੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਬਹੁ ਮਾਣੁ ॥
jiau baalak pitaa uoopar kare bahu maan ||
As the child places so much faith in his father,
ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਬੋਲੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣਿ ॥
bulaiaa bolai gur kai bhaan ||
I speak as it pleases the Guru to have me speak.
ਗੁਝੀ ਛੰਨੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਾਤ ॥
gujhee chha(n)nee naahee baat ||
This is not a hidden secret;
ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਕੀਨੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੦੧॥
gur naanak tuThaa keenee dhaat ||4||7||101||
Guru Nanak, greatly pleased, has bestowed this gift. ||4||7||101||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
aasaa mahalaa panjavaa ||
Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਹਾਥ ॥
gur poore raakhiaa dhe haath ||
Giving His Hand, the Perfect Guru has protected the child.
ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਭਇਆ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ॥੧॥
pragaT bhiaa jan kaa parataap ||1||
The glory of His servant has become manifest. ||1||
ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਜਪੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
gur gur japee guroo gur dhiaaiee ||
I contemplate the Guru, the Guru; I meditate on the Guru, the Guru.
ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਹਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jeea kee aradhaas guroo peh paiee || rahaau ||
I offer my heart-felt prayer to the Guru, and it is answered. ||Pause||
ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰੇ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
saran pare saache gurdhev ||
I have taken to the Sanctuary of the True Divine Guru.
ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇਵ ॥੨॥
pooran hoiee sevak sev ||2||
The service of His servant has been fulfilled. ||2||
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ॥
jeeau pi(n)dd joban raakhai praan ||
He has preserved my soul, body, youth and breath of life.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ॥੩॥੮॥੧੦੨॥
kahu naanak gur kau kurabaan ||3||8||102||
Says Nanak, I am a sacrifice to the Guru. ||3||8||102||
ਆਸਾ ਘਰੁ ੮ ਕਾਫੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫
aasaa ghar atthvaa kaafee mahalaa panjavaa
Aasaa, Eighth House, Kaafee, Fifth Mehla:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaadh ||
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਮੈ ਬੰਦਾ ਬੈ ਖਰੀਦੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
mai ba(n)dhaa bai khareedh sach saahib meraa ||
I am Your purchased slave, O True Lord Master.
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੈ ਤੇਰਾ ॥੧॥
jeeau pi(n)dd sabh tis dhaa sabh kichh hai teraa ||1||
My soul and body, and all of this, everything is Yours. ||1||
ਮਾਣੁ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਤੂੰ ਧਣੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ॥
maan nimaane too(n) dhanee teraa bharavaasaa ||
You are the honor of the dishonored. O Master, in You I place my trust.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਚੇ ਅਨ ਟੇਕ ਹੈ ਸੋ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਕਾਚਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bin saache an Tek hai so jaanahu kaachaa ||1|| rahaau ||
Without the True One, any other support is false - know this well. ||1||Pause||
ਤੇਰਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਅਪਾਰ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥
teraa hukam apaar hai koiee a(n)t na paae ||
Your Command is infinite; no one can find its limit.
ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭੇਟਸੀ ਸੋ ਚਲੈ ਰਜਾਏ ॥੨॥
jis gur pooraa bheTasee so chalai rajaae ||2||
One who meets with the Perfect Guru, walks in the Way of the Lord's Will. ||2||
ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਸਿਆਣਪਾ ਕਿਤੈ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਈਐ ॥
chaturaiee siaanapaa kitai kaam na aaieeaai ||
Cunning and cleverness are of no use.
ਤੁਠਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਜੋ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
tuThaa saahib jo dhevai soiee sukh paieeaai ||3||
That which the Lord Master gives, by the Pleasure of His Will - that is pleasing to me. ||3||
ਜੇ ਲਖ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਈਅਹਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਵੈ ਨ ਬੰਧਾ ॥
je lakh karam kamaie'eeh kichh pavai na ba(n)dhaa ||
One may perform tens of thousands of actions, but attachment to things is not satisfied.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਰ ਹੋਰੁ ਛੋਡਿਆ ਧੰਧਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੦੩॥
jan naanak keetaa naam dhar hor chhoddiaa dha(n)dhaa ||4||1||103||
Servant Nanak has made the Naam his Support. He has renounced other entanglements. ||4||1||103||

ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਮੈ ਭਾਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
sarab sukhaa mai bhaaliaa har jevadd na koiee ||
I have pursued all pleasures, but none is as great as the Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਤੁਠੇ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥
gur tuThe te paieeaai sach saahib soiee ||1||
By the Pleasure of the Guru's Will, the True Lord Master is obtained. ||1||
ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਦ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਨਾ ॥
balihaaree gur aapane sadh sadh kurabaanaa ||
I am a sacrifice to my Guru; I am forever and ever a sacrifice to Him.
ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵਿਸਰਉ ਇਕੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਚਸਾ ਇਹੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਦਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naam na visarau ik khin chasaa ih keejai dhaanaa ||1|| rahaau ||
Please, grant me this one blessing, that I may never, even for an instant, forget Your Name. ||1||Pause||
ਭਾਗਠੁ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਇ ਹੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ॥
bhaagaTh sachaa soi hai jis har dhan a(n)tar ||
How very fortunate are those who have the wealth of the Lord deep within the heart.
