ਸਾਜਨ ਸੰਤ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਮੀਤਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਨੀਤਾ ਰੇ ॥
saajan sa(n)t hamaare meetaa bin har har aaneetaa re ||
O Saints, my friends and companions, without the Lord, Har, Har, you shall perish.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਇਹੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਜੀਤਾ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saadhasa(n)g mil har gun gaae ih janam padhaarath jeetaa re ||1|| rahaau ||
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and win this precious treasure of human life. ||1||Pause||
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਮਾਇਆ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਕੀਨੑੀ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਵਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਤਰੀਐ ਰੇ ॥
trai gun maiaa braham kee keen(h)ee kahahu kavan bidh tareeaai re ||
God has created Maya of the three qualities; tell me, how can it be crossed over?
ਘੂਮਨ ਘੇਰ ਅਗਾਹ ਗਾਖਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਰੀਐ ਰੇ ॥੨॥
ghooman gher agaeh gaakharee gur sabadhee paar utareeaai re ||2||
The whirlpool is awesome and unfathomable; only through the Word of the Guru's Shabad is one carried across. ||2||
ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਓ ਤਤੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਜਾਨਾ ਰੇ ॥
khojat khojat khoj beechaario tat naanak ih jaanaa re ||
Searching and searching endlessly, seeking and deliberating, Nanak has realized the true essence of reality.
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਨਿਰਮੋਲਕੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਣਕੁ ਪਤੀਆਨਾ ਰੇ ॥੩॥੧॥੧੩੦॥
simarat naam nidhaan niramolak man maanak pateeaanaa re ||3||1||130||
Meditating on the invaluable treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the jewel of the mind is satisfied. ||3||1||130||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਦੁਪਦੇ ॥
aasaa mahalaa panjavaa dhupadhe ||
Aasaa, Fifth Mehla, Dho-Padhay:
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਜੋ ਮਾਗਉ ਸੋ ਪਾਵਉ ਰੇ ॥
gur parasaadh merai man vasiaa jo maagau so paavau re ||
By Guru's Grace, He dwells within my mind; whatever I ask for, I receive.
ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਨਾ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਕਤਹੂੰ ਧਾਵਉ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
naam ra(n)g ih man tirapataanaa bahur na katahoo(n) dhaavau re ||1||
This mind is satisfied with the Love of the Naam, the Name of the Lord; it does not go out, anywhere, anymore. ||1||
ਹਮਰਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਗਾਵਉ ਰੇ ॥
hamaraa Thaakur sabh te uoochaa rain dhinas tis gaavau re ||
My Lord and Master is the highest of all; night and day, I sing the Glories of His Praises.
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਨਹਾਰਾ ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਡਰਾਵਉ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
khin meh thaap uthaapanahaaraa tis te tujheh ddaraavau re ||1|| rahaau ||
In an instant, He establishes and disestablishes; through Him, I frighten you. ||1||Pause||
ਜਬ ਦੇਖਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਉ ਅਵਰਹਿ ਚੀਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਵਉ ਰੇ ॥
jab dhekhau prabh apunaa suaamee tau avareh cheet na paavau re ||
When I behold my God, my Lord and Master, I do not pay any attention to any other.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਪਹਿਰਾਇਆ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਮੇਟਿ ਲਿਖਾਵਉ ਰੇ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੩੧॥
naanak dhaas prabh aap pahiraiaa bhram bhau meT likhaavau re ||2||2||131||
God Himself has adorned servant Nanak; his doubts and fears have been dispelled, and he writes the account of the Lord. ||2||2||131||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:
ਚਾਰਿ ਬਰਨ ਚਉਹਾ ਕੇ ਮਰਦਨ ਖਟੁ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਤਲੀ ਰੇ ॥
chaar baran chauhaa ke maradhan khaT dharasan kar talee re ||
The four castes and social classes, and the preachers with the six Shaastras on their finger-tips,
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੁਘਰ ਸਰੂਪ ਸਿਆਨੇ ਪੰਚਹੁ ਹੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਛਲੀ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
su(n)dhar sughar saroop siaane pa(n)chahu hee moh chhalee re ||1||
the beautiful, the refined, the shapely and the wise - the five passions have enticed and beguiled them all. ||1||
ਜਿਨਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਪੰਚ ਸੂਰਬੀਰ ਐਸੋ ਕਉਨੁ ਬਲੀ ਰੇ ॥
jin mil maare pa(n)ch soorabeer aaiso kaun balee re ||
Who has seized and conquered the five powerful fighters? Is there anyone strong enough?
ਜਿਨਿ ਪੰਚ ਮਾਰਿ ਬਿਦਾਰਿ ਗੁਦਾਰੇ ਸੋ ਪੂਰਾ ਇਹ ਕਲੀ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jin pa(n)ch maar bidhaar gudhaare so pooraa ieh kalee re ||1|| rahaau ||
He alone, who conquers and defeats the five demons, is perfect in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga. ||1||Pause||
ਵਡੀ ਕੋਮ ਵਸਿ ਭਾਗਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੁਹਕਮ ਫਉਜ ਹਠਲੀ ਰੇ ॥
vaddee kom vas bhaageh naahee muhakam fauj haThalee re ||
They are so awesome and great; they cannot be controlled, and they do not run away. Their army is mighty and unyielding.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਨਿਰਦਲਿਆ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਝਲੀ ਰੇ ॥੨॥੩॥੧੩੨॥
kahu naanak tin jan niradhaliaa saadhasa(n)gat kai jhalee re ||2||3||132||
Says Nanak, that humble being who is under the protection of the Saadh Sangat, crushes those terrible demons. ||2||3||132||

ਨੀਕੀ ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਊਤਮ ਆਨ ਸਗਲ ਰਸ ਫੀਕੀ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
neekee jeea kee har kathaa uootam aan sagal ras feekee re ||1|| rahaau ||
The Sublime Sermon of the Lord is the best thing for the soul. All other tastes are insipid. ||1||Pause||
ਬਹੁ ਗੁਨਿ ਧੁਨਿ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਖਟੁ ਬੇਤੇ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਿਛੁ ਲਾਈਕੀ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
bahu gun dhun mun jan khaT bete avar na kichh laieekee re ||1||
The worthy beings, heavenly singers, silent sages and the knowers of the six Shaastras proclaim that nothing else is worthy of consideration. ||1||
ਬਿਖਾਰੀ ਨਿਰਾਰੀ ਅਪਾਰੀ ਸਹਜਾਰੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੀਕੀ ਰੇ ॥੨॥੪॥੧੩੩॥
bikhaaree niraaree apaaree sahajaaree saadhasa(n)g naanak peekee re ||2||4||133||
It is the cure for evil passions, unique, unequalled and peace-giving; in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, O Nanak, drink it in. ||2||4||133||

ਹਮਾਰੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਧਾਰੀ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਟਾਰੀ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
hamaaree piaaree a(n)mirat dhaaree gur nimakh na man te Taaree re ||1|| rahaau ||
My Beloved has brought forth a river of nectar. The Guru has not held it back from my mind, even for an instant. ||1||Pause||
ਦਰਸਨ ਪਰਸਨ ਸਰਸਨ ਹਰਸਨ ਰੰਗਿ ਰੰਗੀ ਕਰਤਾਰੀ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
dharasan parasan sarasan harasan ra(n)g ra(n)gee karataaree re ||1||
Beholding it, and touching it, I am sweetened and delighted. It is imbued with the Creator's Love. ||1||
ਖਿਨੁ ਰਮ ਗੁਰ ਗਮ ਹਰਿ ਦਮ ਨਹ ਜਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੰਠਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਰਿ ਹਾਰੀ ਰੇ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੩੪॥
khin ram gur gam har dham neh jam har ka(n)Th naanak ur haaree re ||2||5||134||
Chanting it even for a moment, I rise to the Guru; meditating on it, one is not trapped by the Messenger of Death. The Lord has placed it as a garland around Nanak's neck, and within his heart. ||2||5||134||

The Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, is exalted and sublime. ||Pause||
ਪਹਰ ਮੂਰਤ ਪਲ ਗਾਵਤ ਗਾਵਤ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਵਖਾਨੀ ॥੧॥
pahar moorat pal gaavat gaavat govi(n)dh govi(n)dh vakhaanee ||1||
Every day, hour and moment, I continually sing and speak of Govind, Govind, the Lord of the Universe. ||1||
ਚਾਲਤ ਬੈਸਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਚਰਨ ਖਟਾਨੀ ॥੨॥
chaalat baisat sovat har jas man tan charan khaTaanee ||2||
Walking, sitting and sleeping, I chant the Lord's Praises; I treasure His Feet in my mind and body. ||2||
ਹਂਉ ਹਉਰੋ ਤੂ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਗਉਰੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਛਾਨੀ ॥੩॥੬॥੧੩੫॥
ha(n)au hauro too Thaakur gauro naanak saran pachhaanee ||3||6||135||
I am so small, and You are so great, O Lord and Master; Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary. ||3||6||135||
