ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਜਿ ਚੀਨੑਸੀ ਆਸਾ ਤੇ ਨ ਭਾਵਸੀ ॥

One who recognizes the Supreme Lord God, dislikes other desires.
ਰਾਮਾ ਭਗਤਹ ਚੇਤੀਅਲੇ ਅਚਿੰਤ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਖਸੀ ॥੧॥
raamaa bhagateh cheteeale achi(n)t man raakhasee ||1||
He focuses his consciousness on the Lord's devotional worship, and keeps his mind free of anxiety. ||1||
ਕੈਸੇ ਮਨ ਤਰਹਿਗਾ ਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਬਿਖੈ ਕੋ ਬਨਾ ॥
kaise man tarahigaa re sa(n)saar saagar bikhai ko banaa ||
O my mind, how will you cross over the world-ocean, if you are filled with the water of corruption?
ਝੂਠੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇਖਿ ਕੈ ਭੂਲਾ ਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jhooThee maiaa dhekh kai bhoolaa re manaa ||1|| rahaau ||
Gazing upon the falseness of Maya, you have gone astray, O my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਛੀਪੇ ਕੇ ਘਰਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਦੈਲਾ ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਭੈਲਾ ॥
chheepe ke ghar janam dhailaa gur upadhes bhailaa ||
You have given me birth in the house of a calico-printer, but I have found the Teachings of the Guru.

mirag meen bhira(n)g pata(n)g ku(n)char ek dhokh binaas ||
The deer, the fish, the bumble bee, the moth and the elephant are destroyed, each for a single defect.
ਪੰਚ ਦੋਖ ਅਸਾਧ ਜਾ ਮਹਿ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੇਤਕ ਆਸ ॥੧॥
pa(n)ch dhokh asaadh jaa meh taa kee ketak aas ||1||
So the one who is filled with the five incurable vices - what hope is there for him? ||1||
ਮਾਧੋ ਅਬਿਦਿਆ ਹਿਤ ਕੀਨ ॥

O Lord, he is in love with ignorance.
ਬਿਬੇਕ ਦੀਪ ਮਲੀਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਤ੍ਰਿਗਦ ਜੋਨਿ ਅਚੇਤ ਸੰਭਵ ਪੁੰਨ ਪਾਪ ਅਸੋਚ ॥

The creeping creatures live thoughtless lives, and cannot discriminate between good and evil.
ਮਾਨੁਖਾ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਦੁਲਭ ਤਿਹੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪੋਚ ॥੨॥
maanukhaa avataar dhulabh tihee sa(n)gat poch ||2||
It is so difficult to obtain this human incarnation, and yet, they keep company with the low. ||2||
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਜਹਾ ਜਹਾ ਲਗੁ ਕਰਮ ਕੇ ਬਸਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
jeea ja(n)t jahaa jahaa lag karam ke bas jai ||
Wherever the beings and creatures are, they are born according to the karma of their past actions.
ਕਾਲ ਫਾਸ ਅਬਧ ਲਾਗੇ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਉਪਾਇ ॥੩॥
kaal faas abadh laage kachh na chalai upai ||3||
The noose of death is unforgiving, and it shall catch them; it cannot be warded off. ||3||
ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਦਾਸ ਉਦਾਸ ਤਜੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਤਪਨ ਤਪੁ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ॥
ravidhaas dhaas udhaas taj bhram tapan tap gur giaan ||
O servant Ravi Daas, dispel your sorrow and doubt, and know that Guru-given spiritual wisdom is the penance of penances.
ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਭੈ ਹਰਨ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ਕਰਹੁ ਨਿਦਾਨ ॥੪॥੧॥

Your Saints are Your body, and their company is Your breath of life.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਸੰਤ ਦੇਵਾ ਦੇਵ ॥੧॥
satigur giaan jaanai sa(n)t dhevaa dhev ||1||
By the True Guru-given spiritual wisdom, I know the Saints as the gods of gods. ||1||
ਸੰਤ ਚੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸੰਤ ਕਥਾ ਰਸੁ ॥ ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਮਾਝੈ ਦੀਜੈ ਦੇਵਾ ਦੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sa(n)t chee sa(n)gat sa(n)t kathaa ras || sa(n)t prem maajhai dheejai dhevaa dhev ||1|| rahaau ||
O Lord, God of gods, grant me the Society of the Saints, the sublime essence of the Saints' conversation, and the Love of the Saints. ||1||Pause||
ਸੰਤ ਆਚਰਣ ਸੰਤ ਚੋ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਸੰਤ ਚ ਓਲ੍ਹਗ ਓਲ੍ਹਗਣੀ ॥੨॥
sa(n)t aacharan sa(n)t cho maarag sa(n)t ch olhag olhaganee ||2||
The Character of the Saints, the lifestyle of the Saints, and the service of the servant of the Saints. ||2||
ਅਉਰ ਇਕ ਮਾਗਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਚਿੰਤਾਮਣਿ ॥
aaur ik maagau bhagat chi(n)taaman ||
I ask for these, and for one thing more - devotional worship, which shall fulfill my desires.
ਜਣੀ ਲਖਾਵਹੁ ਅਸੰਤ ਪਾਪੀ ਸਣਿ ॥੩॥
janee lakhaavahu asa(n)t paapee san ||3||
Do not show me the wicked sinners. ||3||
ਰਵਿਦਾਸੁ ਭਣੈ ਜੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਸੋ ਜਾਣੁ ॥
ravidhaas bhanai jo jaanai so jaan ||
Says Ravi Daas, he alone is wise, who knows this:

You are sandalwood, and I am the poor castor oil plant, dwelling close to you.
ਨੀਚ ਰੂਖ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਗੰਧ ਸੁਗੰਧ ਨਿਵਾਸਾ ॥੧॥
neech rookh te uooch bhe hai ga(n)dh suga(n)dh nivaasaa ||1||
From a lowly tree, I have become exalted; Your fragrance, Your exquisite fragrance now permeates me. ||1||
ਮਾਧਉ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੀ ॥
maadhau satasa(n)gat saran tum(h)aaree ||
O Lord, I seek the Sanctuary of the company of Your Saints;
ਹਮ ਅਉਗਨ ਤੁਮੑ ਉਪਕਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ham aaugan tum(h) upakaaree ||1|| rahaau ||
I am worthless, and You are so benevolent. ||1||Pause||
ਤੁਮ ਮਖਤੂਲ ਸੁਪੇਦ ਸਪੀਅਲ ਹਮ ਬਪੁਰੇ ਜਸ ਕੀਰਾ ॥
tum makhatool supedh sapeeal ham bapure jas keeraa ||
You are the white and yellow threads of silk, and I am like a poor worm.
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੀਐ ਮਾਧਉ ਜੈਸੇ ਮਧੁਪ ਮਖੀਰਾ ॥੨॥
satasa(n)gat mil raheeaai maadhau jaise madhup makheeraa ||2||
O Lord, I seek to live in the Company of the Saints, like the bee with its honey. ||2||
ਜਾਤੀ ਓਛਾ ਪਾਤੀ ਓਛਾ ਓਛਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥
jaatee ochhaa paatee ochhaa ochhaa janam hamaaraa ||
My social status is low, my ancestry is low, and my birth is low as well.
ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਕੀਨੀ ਕਹਿ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਚਮਾਰਾ ॥੩॥੩॥

ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਜਾਇ ਤਉ ਡਰਪੈ ਤੇਰੋ ਜਨੁ ॥੧॥
prem jai tau ddarapai tero jan ||1||
If I were to lose Your Love, Lord, then Your humble servant would be afraid. ||1||
ਤੁਝਹਿ ਚਰਨ ਅਰਬਿੰਦ ਭਵਨ ਮਨੁ ॥
tujheh charan arabi(n)dh bhavan man ||
Your lotus feet are the home of my mind.
ਪਾਨ ਕਰਤ ਪਾਇਓ ਪਾਇਓ ਰਾਮਈਆ ਧਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Drinking in Your Nectar, I have obtained the wealth of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
