ਮਾਈ ਸੁਨਤ ਸੋਚ ਭੈ ਡਰਤ ॥
maiee sunat soch bhai ddarat ||
O mother, I hear of death, and think of it, and I am filled with fear.
ਮੇਰ ਤੇਰ ਤਜਉ ਅਭਿਮਾਨਾ ਸਰਨਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੀ ਪਰਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mer ter tajau abhimaanaa saran suaamee kee parat ||1|| rahaau ||
Renouncing 'mine and yours' and egotism, I have sought the Sanctuary of the Lord and Master. ||1||Pause||
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਹੈ ਸੋਈ ਭਲ ਮਾਨਉ ਨਾਹਿ ਨ ਕਾ ਬੋਲ ਕਰਤ ॥
jo jo kahai soiee bhal maanau naeh na kaa bol karat ||
Whatever He says, I accept that as good. I do not say ""No"" to what He says.
ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਬਿਸਰਉ ਹੀਏ ਮੋਰੇ ਤੇ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਜਾਈ ਹਉ ਮਰਤ ॥੧॥
nimakh na bisarau he'ee more te bisarat jaiee hau marat ||1||
Let me not forget Him, even for an instant; forgetting Him, I die. ||1||
ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਇਆਨਪ ਜਰਤ ॥
sukhadhaiee pooran prabh karataa meree bahut iaanap jarat ||
The Giver of peace, God, the Perfect Creator, endures my great ignorance.
ਨਿਰਗੁਨਿ ਕਰੂਪਿ ਕੁਲਹੀਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਉ ਅਨਦ ਰੂਪ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਭਰਤ ॥੨॥੩॥
niragun karoop kulaheen naanak hau anadh roop suaamee bharat ||2||3||
I am worthless, ugly and of low birth, O Nanak, but my Husband Lord is the embodiment of bliss. ||2||3||

ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਸਦਹੂੰ ॥
man har keerat kar sadhahoo(n) ||
O my mind, chant forever the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises.
ਗਾਵਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਜਪਤ ਉਧਾਰੈ ਬਰਨ ਅਬਰਨਾ ਸਭਹੂੰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gaavat sunat japat udhaarai baran abaranaa sabhahoo(n) ||1|| rahaau ||
By singing, hearing and meditating on Him, all, whether of high or low status, are saved. ||1||Pause||
ਜਹ ਤੇ ਉਪਜਿਓ ਤਹੀ ਸਮਾਇਓ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਨੀ ਤਬਹੂੰ ॥
jeh te upajio tahee samaio ieh bidh jaanee tabahoo(n) ||
He is absorbed into the One from which he originated, when he understands the Way.
ਜਹਾ ਜਹਾ ਇਹ ਦੇਹੀ ਧਾਰੀ ਰਹਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਕਬਹੂੰ ॥੧॥
jahaa jahaa ieh dhehee dhaaree rahan na paio kabahoo(n) ||1||
Wherever this body was fashioned, it was not allowed to remain there. ||1||
ਸੁਖੁ ਆਇਓ ਭੈ ਭਰਮ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਹੂਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਬਹੂ ॥
sukh aaio bhai bharam binaase kirapaal hooe prabh jabahoo ||
Peace comes, and fear and doubt are dispelled, when God becomes Merciful.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਤਜਿ ਲਬਹੂੰ ॥੨॥੪॥
kahu naanak mere poore manorath saadhasa(n)g taj labahoo(n) ||2||4||
Says Nanak, my hopes have been fulfilled, renouncing my greed in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||2||4||

ਮਨ ਜਿਉ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵਉ ॥
man jiau apune prabh bhaavau ||
O my mind, act as it pleases God.
ਨੀਚਹੁ ਨੀਚੁ ਨੀਚੁ ਅਤਿ ਨਾਨੑਾ ਹੋਇ ਗਰੀਬੁ ਬੁਲਾਵਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
neechahu neech neech at naan(h)aa hoi gareeb bulaavau ||1|| rahaau ||
Become the lowest of the low, the very least of the tiny, and speak in utmost humility. ||1||Pause||
ਅਨਿਕ ਅਡੰਬਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬਿਰਥੇ ਤਾ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਘਟਾਵਉ ॥
anik adda(n)bar maiaa ke birathe taa siau preet ghaTaavau ||
The many ostentatious shows of Maya are useless; I withhold my love from these.
ਜਿਉ ਅਪੁਨੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਨੈ ਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵਉ ॥੧॥
jiau apuno suaamee sukh maanai taa meh sobhaa paavau ||1||
As something pleases my Lord and Master, in that I find my glory. ||1||
ਦਾਸਨ ਦਾਸ ਰੇਣੁ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੀ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਕਮਾਵਉ ॥
dhaasan dhaas ren dhaasan kee jan kee Tahal kamaavau ||
I am the slave of His slaves; becoming the dust of the feet of his slaves, I serve His humble servants.
ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਬਡਿਆਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਵਉ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਬੁਲਾਵਉ ॥੨॥੫॥
sarab sookh baddiaaiee naanak jeevau mukhahu bulaavau ||2||5||
I obtain all peace and greatness, O Nanak, living to chant His Name with my mouth. ||2||5||

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਤਉ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਡਾਰਿਓ ॥
prabh jee tau prasaadh bhram ddaario ||
Dear God, by Your Grace, my doubts have been dispelled.
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਅਪਨਾ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਇਹੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tumaree kirapaa te sabh ko apanaa man meh ihai beechaario ||1|| rahaau ||
By Your Mercy, all are mine; I reflect upon this in my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਕੋਟਿ ਪਰਾਧ ਮਿਟੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਦਰਸਨਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਉਤਾਰਿਓ ॥
koT paraadh miTe teree sevaa dharasan dhookh utaario ||
Millions of sins are erased, by serving You; the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan drives away sorrow.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਬਿਦਾਰਿਓ ॥੧॥
naam japat mahaa sukh paio chi(n)taa rog bidhaario ||1||
Chanting Your Name, I have obtained supreme peace, and my anxieties and diseases have been cast out. ||1||
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਿਸਾਰਿਓ ॥
kaam karodh lobh jhooTh ni(n)dhaa saadhoo sa(n)g bisaario ||
Sexual desire, anger, greed, falsehood and slander are forgotten, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਮਾਇਆ ਬੰਧ ਕਾਟੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਉਧਾਰਿਓ ॥੨॥੬॥
maiaa ba(n)dh kaaTe kirapaa nidh naanak aap udhaario ||2||6||
The ocean of mercy has cut away the bonds of Maya; O Nanak, He has saved me. ||2||6||

ਮਨ ਸਗਲ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਰਹੀ ॥
man sagal siaanap rahee ||
All the cleverness of my mind is gone.
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨਹਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
karan karaavanahaar suaamee naanak oT gahee ||1|| rahaau ||
The Lord and Master is the Doer, the Cause of causes; Nanak holds tight to His Support. ||1||Pause||
ਆਪੁ ਮੇਟਿ ਪਏ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਕਹੀ ॥
aap meT pe saranaiee ieh mat saadhoo kahee ||
Erasing my self-conceit, I have entered His Sanctuary; these are the Teachings spoken by the Holy Guru.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮਾਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਭਰਮੁ ਅਧੇਰਾ ਲਹੀ ॥੧॥
prabh kee aagiaa maan sukh paiaa bharam adheraa lahee ||1||
Surrendering to the Will of God, I attain peace, and the darkness of doubt is dispelled. ||1||
ਜਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਅਹੀ ॥
jaan prabeen suaamee prabh mere saran tumaaree ahee ||
I know that You are all-wise, O God, my Lord and Master; I seek Your Sanctuary.
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਨਹਾਰੇ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕੀਮ ਨ ਪਹੀ ॥੨॥੭॥
khin meh thaap uthaapanahaare kudharat keem na pahee ||2||7||
In an instant, You establish and disestablish; the value of Your Almighty Creative Power cannot be estimated. ||2||7||
ਦੇਵਗੰਧਾਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
dhevaga(n)dhaaree mahalaa panjavaa ||
Dayv-Gandhaaree, Fifth Mehla:
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ॥
har praan prabhoo sukhadhaate ||
The Lord God is my praanaa, my breath of life; He is the Giver of peace.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਾਹੂ ਜਾਤੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur prasaadh kaahoo jaate ||1|| rahaau ||
By Guru's Grace, only a few know Him. ||1||Pause||
ਸੰਤ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਕਾਲ ਨ ਖਾਤੇ ॥
sa(n)t tumaare tumare preetam tin kau kaal na khaate ||
Your Saints are Your Beloveds; death does not consume them.
ਰੰਗਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੈ ਲਾਲ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਰਸਿ ਮਾਤੇ ॥੧॥
ra(n)g tumaarai laal bhe hai raam naam ras maate ||1||
They are dyed in the deep crimson color of Your Love, and they are intoxicated with the sublime essence of the Lord's Name. ||1||
