ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥
gurmukh man mere naam samaal ||
As Gurmukh, O my mind, remember the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਸਦਾ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਚਲੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sadhaa nibahai chalai terai naal || rahaau ||
It shall stand by you always, and go with you. ||Pause||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
gurmukh jaat pat sach soi ||
The True Lord is the social status and honor of the Gurmukh.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਖਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
gurmukh a(n)tar sakhaiee prabh hoi ||2||
Within the Gurmukh, is God, his friend and helper. ||2||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥
gurmukh jis no aap kare so hoi ||
He alone becomes Gurmukh, whom the Lord so blesses.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥
gurmukh aap vaddaiee dhevai soi ||3||
He Himself blesses the Gurmukh with greatness. ||3||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
gurmukh sabadh sach karanee saar ||
The Gurmukh lives the True Word of the Shabad, and practices good deeds.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਵਾਰੈ ਸਾਧਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੬॥
gurmukh naanak paravaarai saadhaar ||4||6||
The Gurmukh, O Nanak, emancipates his family and relations. ||4||6||
ਵਡਹੰਸੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
vaddaha(n)s mahalaa teejaa ||
Wadahans, Third Mehla:
ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਦਿ ਲਗੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
rasanaa har saadh lagee sahaj subhai ||
My tongue is intuitively attracted to the taste of the Lord.
ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੧॥
man tirapatiaa har naam dhiaai ||1||
My mind is satisfied, meditating on the Name of the Lord. ||1||
ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
sadhaa sukh saachai sabadh veechaaree ||
Lasting peace is obtained, contemplating the Shabad, the True Word of God.
ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aapane satagur viTahu sadhaa balihaaree ||1|| rahaau ||
I am forever a sacrifice to my True Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਅਖੀ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
akhee sa(n)tokheeaa ek liv lai ||
My eyes are content, lovingly focused on the One Lord.
ਮਨੁ ਸੰਤੋਖਿਆ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੨॥
man sa(n)tokhiaa dhoojaa bhaau gavai ||2||
My mind is content, having forsaken the love of duality. ||2||
ਦੇਹ ਸਰੀਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥
dheh sareer sukh hovai sabadh har nai ||
The frame of my body is at peace, through the Shabad, and the Name of the Lord.
ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਮਲੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥
naam paramal hiradhai rahiaa samai ||3||
The fragrance of the Naam permeates my heart. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੁ ॥
naanak masatak jis vaddabhaag ||
O Nanak, one who has such great destiny written upon his forehead,
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਹਜ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ॥੪॥੭॥
gur kee baanee sahaj bairaag ||4||7||
through the Bani of the Guru's Word, easily and intuitively becomes free of desire. ||4||7||
ਵਡਹੰਸੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
vaddaha(n)s mahalaa teejaa ||
Wadahans, Third Mehla:
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
poore gur te naam paiaa jai ||
From the Perfect Guru, the Naam is obtained.
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
sachai sabadh sach samai ||1||
Through the Shabad, the True Word of God, one merges in the True Lord. ||1||
ਏ ਮਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਤੂ ਪਾਇ ॥
e man naam nidhaan too pai ||
O my soul, obtain the treasure of the Naam,
ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਲੈ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aapane gur kee ma(n)n lai rajai ||1|| rahaau ||
by submitting to the Will of your Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
gur kai sabadh vichahu mail gavai ||
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, filth is washed away from within.
ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੨॥
niramal naam vasai man aai ||2||
The Immaculate Naam comes to abide within the mind. ||2||
ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
bharame bhoolaa firai sa(n)saar ||
Deluded by doubt, the world wanders around.
ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੈ ਜਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥੩॥
mar janamai jam kare khuaar ||3||
It dies, and is born again, and is ruined by the Messenger of Death. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
naanak se vaddabhaagee jin har naam dhiaaiaa ||
O Nanak, very fortunate are those who meditate on the Name of the Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੮॥
gur parasaadhee ma(n)n vasaiaa ||4||8||
By Guru's Grace, they enshrine the Name within their minds. ||4||8||
ਵਡਹੰਸੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
vaddaha(n)s mahalaa teejaa ||
Wadahans, Third Mehla:
ਹਉਮੈ ਨਾਵੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਵਿਰੋਧੁ ਹੈ ਦੁਇ ਨ ਵਸਹਿ ਇਕ ਠਾਇ ॥
haumai naavai naal virodh hai dhui na vaseh ik Thai ||
Ego is opposed to the Name of the Lord; the two do not dwell in the same place.
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
haumai vich sevaa na hoviee taa man birathaa jai ||1||
In egotism, selfless service cannot be performed, and so the soul goes unfulfilled. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
har chet man mere too gur kaa sabadh kamai ||
O my mind, think of the Lord, and practice the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮੰਨਹਿ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
hukam ma(n)neh taa har milai taa vichahu haumai jai || rahaau ||
If you submit to the Hukam of the Lord's Command, then you shall meet with the Lord; only then will your ego depart from within. ||Pause||
ਹਉਮੈ ਸਭੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਹੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਓਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
haumai sabh sareer hai haumai opat hoi ||
Egotism is within all bodies; through egotism, we come to be born.
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਡਾ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਬੁਝਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥
haumai vaddaa gubaar hai haumai vich bujh na sakai koi ||2||
Egotism is total darkness; in egotism, no one can understand anything. ||2||
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
haumai vich bhagat na hoviee hukam na bujhiaa jai ||
In egotism, devotional worship cannot be performed, and the Hukam of the Lord's Command cannot be understood.
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਜੀਉ ਬੰਧੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੩॥
haumai vich jeeau ba(n)dh hai naam na vasai man aai ||3||
In egotism, the soul is in bondage, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord, does not come to abide in the mind. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਉਮੈ ਗਈ ਤਾ ਸਚੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
naanak satagur miliaai haumai giee taa sach vasiaa man aai ||
O Nanak, meeting with the True Guru, egotism is eliminated, and then, the True Lord comes to dwell in the mind||
ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਸਚੇ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੯॥੧੨॥
sach kamaavai sach rahai sache sev samai ||4||9||12||
One starts practicing truth, abides in truth and by serving the True One gets absorbed in Him. ||4||9||12||

Wadahans, Fourth Mehla, First House:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaadh ||
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਸੇਜ ਏਕ ਏਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ॥
sej ek eko prabh Thaakur ||
There is one bed, and One Lord God.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਵੇ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰੁ ॥੧॥
gurmukh har raave sukh saagar ||1||
The Gurmukh enjoys the Lord, the ocean of peace. ||1||
ਮੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਣ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਮਨਿ ਆਸਾ ॥
mai prabh milan prem man aasaa ||
My mind longs to meet my Beloved Lord.
