ਸਰਬੇ ਥਾਈ ਏਕੁ ਤੂੰ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖੁ ॥

In all places, You are the One and Only. As it pleases You, Lord, please save and protect me!
ਸਰਬੇ ਥਾਈ ਏਕੁ ਤੂੰ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖੁ ॥

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਲੋ ਪਤਿ ਸਾਖੁ ॥
gurmat saachaa man vasai naam bhalo pat saakh ||
Through the Guru's Teachings, the True One abides within the mind. The Companionship of the Naam brings the most excellent honor.
ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਈਐ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਚੁ ਭਾਖੁ ॥੮॥
haumai rog gavaieeaai sabadh sachai sach bhaakh ||8||
Eradicate the disease of egotism, and chant the True Shabad, the Word of the True Lord. ||8||
ਆਕਾਸੀ ਪਾਤਾਲਿ ਤੂੰ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
aakaasee paataal too(n) tirabhavan rahiaa samai ||
You are pervading throughout the Akaashic Ethers, the nether regions and the three worlds.
ਆਪੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਭਾਉ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਮਿਲਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
aape bhagatee bhaau too(n) aape mileh milai ||
You Yourself are bhakti, loving devotional worship. You Yourself unite us in Union with Yourself.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੯॥੧੩॥
naanak naam na veesarai jiau bhaavai tivai rajai ||9||13||
O Nanak, may I never forget the Naam! As is Your Pleasure, so is Your Will. ||9||13||
ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥

Siree Raag, First Mehla:
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਅਵਰੁ ਕਿ ਕਰੀ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
raam naam man bedhiaa avar k karee veechaar ||
My mind is pierced through by the Name of the Lord. What else should I contemplate?
ਸਬਦ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਾਤਉ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
sabadh surat sukh uoopajai prabh raatau sukh saar ||
Focusing your awareness on the Shabad, happiness wells up. Attuned to God, the most excellent peace is found.
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖੁ ਤੂੰ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
jiau bhaavai tiau raakh too(n) mai har naam adhaar ||1||
As it pleases You, please save me, Lord. The Name of the Lord is my Support. ||1||
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਸਾਚੀ ਖਸਮ ਰਜਾਇ ॥
man re saachee khasam rajai ||
O mind, the Will of our Lord and Master is true.
ਜਿਨਿ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਜਿ ਸੀਗਾਰਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਸੇਤੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jin tan man saaj seegaariaa tis setee liv lai ||1|| rahaau ||
Focus your love upon the One who created and adorned your body and mind. ||1||Pause||
ਤਨੁ ਬੈਸੰਤਰਿ ਹੋਮੀਐ ਇਕ ਰਤੀ ਤੋਲਿ ਕਟਾਇ ॥
tan baisa(n)tar homeeaai ik ratee tol kaTai ||
If I cut my body into pieces, and burn them in the fire,
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਮਧਾ ਜੇ ਕਰੀ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਅਗਨਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥
tan man samadhaa je karee anadhin agan jalai ||
and if I make my body and mind into firewood, and night and day burn them in the fire,
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਤੁਲਿ ਨ ਪੁਜਈ ਜੇ ਲਖ ਕੋਟੀ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
har naamai tul na pujiee je lakh koTee karam kamai ||2||
and if I perform hundreds of thousands and millions of religious rituals-still, all these are not equal to the Name of the Lord. ||2||
ਅਰਧ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਕਟਾਈਐ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਰਵਤੁ ਧਰਾਇ ॥
aradh sareer kaTaieeaai sir karavat dharai ||
If my body were cut in half, if a saw was put to my head,
ਤਨੁ ਹੈਮੰਚਲਿ ਗਾਲੀਐ ਭੀ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
tan haima(n)chal gaaleeaai bhee man te rog na jai ||
and if my body were frozen in the Himalayas-even then, my mind would not be free of disease.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਤੁਲਿ ਨ ਪੁਜਈ ਸਭ ਡਿਠੀ ਠੋਕਿ ਵਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
har naamai tul na pujiee sabh ddiThee Thok vajai ||3||
None of these are equal to the Name of the Lord. I have seen and tried and tested them all. ||3||
ਕੰਚਨ ਕੇ ਕੋਟ ਦਤੁ ਕਰੀ ਬਹੁ ਹੈਵਰ ਗੈਵਰ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
ka(n)chan ke koT dhat karee bahu haivar gaivar dhaan ||
If I made a donation of castles of gold, and gave lots of fine horses and wondrous elephants in charity,
ਭੂਮਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਗਊਆ ਘਣੀ ਭੀ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗਰਬੁ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥
bhoom dhaan guooaa ghanee bhee a(n)tar garab gumaan ||
and if I made donations of land and cows-even then, pride and ego would still be within me.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਸਚੁ ਦਾਨੁ ॥੪॥
raam naam man bedhiaa gur dheeaa sach dhaan ||4||
The Name of the Lord has pierced my mind; the Guru has given me this true gift. ||4||
ਮਨਹਠ ਬੁਧੀ ਕੇਤੀਆ ਕੇਤੇ ਬੇਦ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
manahaTh budhee keteeaa kete bedh beechaar ||
There are so many stubborn-minded intelligent people, and so many who contemplate the Vedas.
ਕੇਤੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਜੀਅ ਕੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰ ॥
kete ba(n)dhan jeea ke gurmukh mokh dhuaar ||
There are so many entanglements for the soul. Only as Gurmukh do we find the Gate of Liberation.
ਸਚਹੁ ਓਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਉਪਰਿ ਸਚੁ ਆਚਾਰੁ ॥੫॥
sachahu orai sabh ko upar sach aachaar ||5||
Truth is higher than everything; but higher still is truthful living. ||5||
ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਊਚਾ ਆਖੀਐ ਨੀਚੁ ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
sabh ko uoochaa aakheeaai neech na dheesai koi ||
Call everyone exalted; no one seems lowly.
ਇਕਨੈ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਸਾਜਿਐ ਇਕੁ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਤਿਹੁ ਲੋਇ ॥
eikanai bhaa(n)dde saajiaai ik chaanan tih loi ||
The One Lord has fashioned the vessels, and His One Light pervades the three worlds.
ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਧੁਰਿ ਬਖਸ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੬॥
karam milai sach paieeaai dhur bakhas na meTai koi ||6||
Receiving His Grace, we obtain Truth. No one can erase His Primal Blessing. ||6||
ਸਾਧੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨੈ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਵਸੈ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ॥
saadh milai saadhoo janai sa(n)tokh vasai gur bhai ||
When one Holy person meets another Holy person, they abide in contentment, through the Love of the Guru.
ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਵੀਚਾਰੀਐ ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
akath kathaa veechaareeaai je satigur maeh samai ||
They contemplate the Unspoken Speech, merging in absorption in the True Guru.
ਪੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖਿਆ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਪੈਧਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੭॥
pee a(n)mrit sa(n)tokhiaa dharageh paidhaa jai ||7||
Drinking in the Ambrosial Nectar, they are contented; they go to the Court of the Lord in robes of honor. ||7||
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਵਾਜੈ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
ghaT ghaT vaajai ki(n)guree anadhin sabadh subhai ||
In each and every heart the Music of the Lord's Flute vibrates, night and day, with sublime love for the Shabad.
ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕਉ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨੁ ਸਮਝਾਇ ॥
virale kau sojhee piee gurmukh man samajhai ||
Only those few who become Gurmukh understand this by instructing their minds.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਛੂਟੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੮॥੧੪॥
naanak naam na veesarai chhooTai sabadh kamai ||8||14||
O Nanak, do not forget the Naam. Practicing the Shabad you shall be saved. ||8||14||
ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
sireeraag mahalaa pehilaa ||
Siree Raag, First Mehla:
ਚਿਤੇ ਦਿਸਹਿ ਧਉਲਹਰ ਬਗੇ ਬੰਕ ਦੁਆਰ ॥
chite dhiseh dhaulahar bage ba(n)k dhuaar ||
There are painted mansions to behold, white-washed, with beautiful doors;
ਕਰਿ ਮਨ ਖੁਸੀ ਉਸਾਰਿਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
kar man khusee usaariaa dhoojai het piaar ||
they were constructed to give pleasure to the mind, but this is only for the sake of the love of duality.
ਅੰਦਰੁ ਖਾਲੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਢਹਿ ਢੇਰੀ ਤਨੁ ਛਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
a(n)dhar khaalee prem bin ddeh dderee tan chhaar ||1||
The inner being is empty without love. The body shall crumble into a heap of ashes. ||1||
ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
bhaiee re tan dhan saath na hoi ||
O Siblings of Destiny, this body and wealth shall not go along with you.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam naam dhan niramalo gur dhaat kare prabh soi ||1|| rahaau ||
The Lord's Name is the pure wealth; through the Guru, God bestows this gift. ||1||Pause||
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੋ ਜੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
raam naam dhan niramalo je dhevai dhevanahaar ||
The Lord's Name is the pure wealth; it is given only by the Giver.
ਆਗੈ ਪੂਛ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜਿਸੁ ਬੇਲੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥
aagai poochh na hoviee jis belee gur karataar ||
One who has the Guru, the Creator, as his Friend, shall not be questioned hereafter.
ਆਪਿ ਛਡਾਏ ਛੁਟੀਐ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
aap chhaddaae chhuTeeaai aape bakhasanahaar ||2||
He Himself delivers those who are delivered. He Himself is the Forgiver. ||2||
