ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ ਤਾ ਸਹਸਾ ਸਗਲ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
sukh saagar gur paiaa || taa sahasaa sagal miTaiaa ||1||
I found the Guru, the ocean of peace, and all my doubts were dispelled. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
har ke naam kee vaddiaaiee ||
This is the glorious greatness of the Naam.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ॥
aaTh pahar gun gaiee ||
Twenty-four hours a day, I sing His Glorious Praises.
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਪਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur poore te paiee || rahaau ||
I obtained this from the Perfect Guru. ||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ॥
prabh kee akath kahaanee ||
God's sermon is inexpressible.
ਜਨ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
jan boleh a(n)mirat baanee ||
His humble servants speak words of Ambrosial Nectar.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥
naanak dhaas vakhaanee ||
Slave Nanak has spoken.
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਜਾਣੀ ॥੨॥੨॥੬੬॥
gur poore te jaanee ||2||2||66||
Through the Perfect Guru, it is known. ||2||2||66||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
soraTh mahalaa panjavaa ||
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਆਗੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ॥
aagai sukh gur dheeaa ||
The Guru has blessed me with peace here,
ਪਾਛੈ ਕੁਸਲ ਖੇਮ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਆ ॥
paachhai kusal khem gur keeaa ||
and the Guru has arranged peace and pleasure for me hereafter.
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
sarab nidhaan sukh paiaa ||
I have all treasures and comforts,
ਗੁਰੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਰਿਦੈ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੧॥
gur apunaa ridhai dhiaaiaa ||1||
meditating on the Guru in my heart. ||1||
ਅਪਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
apane satigur kee vaddiaaiee ||
This is the glorious greatness of my True Guru;
ਮਨ ਇਛੇ ਫਲ ਪਾਈ ॥
man ichhe fal paiee ||
I have obtained the fruits of my mind's desires.
ਸੰਤਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sa(n)tahu dhin dhin chaRai savaiee || rahaau ||
O Saints, His Glory increases day by day. ||Pause||
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੇ ॥
jeea ja(n)t sabh bhe dhiaalaa prabh apane kar dheene ||
All beings and creatures have become kind and compassionate to me; my God has made them so.
ਸਹਜ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਮਿਲੇ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਿ ਪਤੀਨੇ ॥੨॥੩॥੬੭॥
sahaj subhai mile gopaalaa naanak saach pateene ||2||3||67||
Nanak has met with the Lord of the world with intuitive ease, and with Truth, he is pleased. ||2||3||67||

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਰਖਵਾਰੇ ॥
gur kaa sabadh rakhavaare ||
The Word of the Guru's Shabad is my Saving Grace.
ਚਉਕੀ ਚਉਗਿਰਦ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥
chaukee chaugiradh hamaare ||
It is a guardian posted on all four sides around me.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
raam naam man laagaa ||
My mind is attached to the Lord's Name.
ਜਮੁ ਲਜਾਇ ਕਰਿ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੧॥
jam lajai kar bhaagaa ||1||
The Messenger of Death has run away in shame. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਤੂ ਮੇਰੋ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥
prabh jee too mero sukhadhaataa ||
O Dear Lord, You are my Giver of peace.
ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਕਰੇ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ba(n)dhan kaaT kare man niramal pooran purakh bidhaataa || rahaau ||
The Perfect Lord, the Architect of Destiny, has shattered my bonds, and made my mind immaculately pure. ||Pause||
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
naanak prabh abinaasee ||
O Nanak, God is eternal and imperishable.
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਜਾਸੀ ॥
taa kee sev na birathee jaasee ||
Service to Him shall never go unrewarded.
ਅਨਦ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸਾ ॥
anadh kareh tere dhaasaa ||
Your slaves are in bliss;
ਜਪਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਆਸਾ ॥੨॥੪॥੬੮॥
jap pooran hoiee aasaa ||2||4||68||
chanting and meditating, their desires are fulfilled. ||2||4||68||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
soraTh mahalaa panjavaa ||
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਗੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
gur apune balihaaree ||
I am a sacrifice to my Guru.
ਜਿਨਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੈਜ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥
jin pooran paij savaaree ||
He has totally preserved my honor.
ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
man chi(n)dhiaa fal paiaa ||
I have obtained the fruits of my mind's desires.
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੧॥
prabh apunaa sadhaa dhiaaiaa ||1||
I meditate forever on my God. ||1||
ਸੰਤਹੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
sa(n)tahu tis bin avar na koiee ||
O Saints, without Him, there is no other at all.
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
karan kaaran prabh soiee || rahaau ||
He is God, the Cause of causes. ||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਵਰ ਦੀਨੇ ॥
prabh apanai var dheene ||
My God has given me His Blessing.
ਸਗਲ ਜੀਅ ਵਸਿ ਕੀਨੇ ॥
sagal jeea vas keene ||
He has made all creatures subject to me.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
jan naanak naam dhiaaiaa ||
Servant Nanak meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord,
ਤਾ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥੨॥੫॥੬੯॥
taa sagale dhookh miTaiaa ||2||5||69||
and all his sorrows depart. ||2||5||69||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
soraTh mahalaa panjavaa ||
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਤਾਪੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੇ ॥
taap gavaiaa gur poore ||
The Perfect Guru has dispelled the fever.
ਵਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਦ ਤੂਰੇ ॥
vaaje anahadh toore ||
The unstruck melody of the sound current resounds.
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਨੇ ॥
sarab kaliaan prabh keene ||
God has bestowed all comforts.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਆਪਿ ਦੀਨੇ ॥੧॥
kar kirapaa aap dheene ||1||
In His Mercy, He Himself has given them. ||1||
ਬੇਦਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਗਵਾਈ ॥
bedhan satigur aap gavaiee ||
The True Guru Himself has eradicated the disease.
ਸਿਖ ਸੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਸਰਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sikh sa(n)t sabh sarase hoe har har naam dhiaaiee || rahaau ||
All the Sikhs and Saints are filled with joy, meditating on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||Pause||
ਜੋ ਮੰਗਹਿ ਸੋ ਲੇਵਹਿ ॥
jo ma(n)geh so leveh ||
They obtain that which they ask for.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਣਿਆ ਸੰਤਾ ਦੇਵਹਿ ॥
prabh apaniaa sa(n)taa dheveh ||
God gives to His Saints.
ਹਰਿ ਗੋਵਿਦੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥
har govidh prabh raakhiaa ||
God saved Hargobind.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚੁ ਸੁਭਾਖਿਆ ॥੨॥੬॥੭੦॥
jan naanak saach subhaakhiaa ||2||6||70||
Servant Nanak speaks the Truth. ||2||6||70||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਸੋਈ ਕਰਾਇ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
soiee karai jo tudh bhaavai ||
You make me do what pleases You.
ਮੋਹਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
moh siaanap kachhoo na aavai ||
I have no cleverness at all.
ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਤਉ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
ham baarik tau saranaiee ||
I am just a child - I seek Your Protection.
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪੇ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਾਈ ॥੧॥
prabh aape paij rakhaiee ||1||
God Himself preserves my honor. ||1||
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥
meraa maat pitaa har raiaa ||
The Lord is my King; He is my mother and father.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਣ ਲਾਗਾ ਕਰਂੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਕਰਾਇਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirapaa pratipaalan laagaa kara(n)ee teraa karaiaa || rahaau ||
In Your Mercy, You cherish me; I do whatever You make me do. ||Pause||
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
jeea ja(n)t tere dhaare ||
The beings and creatures are Your creation.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਡੋਰੀ ਹਾਥਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ॥
prabh ddoree haath tumaare ||
O God, their reins are in Your hands.
