ਮਗਰ ਪਾਛੈ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਏਹੁ ਪਦਮੁ ਅਲੋਅ ॥੨॥
magar paachhai kachh na soojhai eh padham aloa ||2||
But they cannot even see what is behind them. What a strange lotus pose this is! ||2||
ਖਤ੍ਰੀਆ ਤ ਧਰਮੁ ਛੋਡਿਆ ਮਲੇਛ ਭਾਖਿਆ ਗਹੀ ॥
khatreeaa ta dharam chhoddiaa malechh bhaakhiaa gahee ||
The K'shatriyas have abandoned their religion, and have adopted a foreign language.
ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਇਕ ਵਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਧਰਮ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਰਹੀ ॥੩॥
sirasaT sabh ik varan hoiee dharam kee gat rahee ||3||
The whole world has been reduced to the same social status; the state of righteousness and Dharma has been lost. ||3||
ਅਸਟ ਸਾਜ ਸਾਜਿ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਸੋਧਹਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਬੇਦ ਅਭਿਆਸੁ ॥
asaT saaj saaj puraan sodheh kareh bedh abhiaas ||
They analyze eight chapters of (Panini's) grammar and the Puraanas. They study the Vedas,
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸੁ ॥੪॥੧॥੬॥੮॥
bin naam har ke mukat naahee kahai naanak dhaas ||4||1||6||8||
but without the Lord's Name, no one is liberated; so says Nanak, the Lord's slave. ||4||1||6||8||

ਗਗਨ ਮੈ ਥਾਲੁ ਰਵਿ ਚੰਦੁ ਦੀਪਕ ਬਨੇ ਤਾਰਿਕਾ ਮੰਡਲ ਜਨਕ ਮੋਤੀ ॥
gagan mai thaal rav cha(n)dh dheepak bane taarikaa ma(n)ddal janak motee ||
In the bowl of the sky, the sun and moon are the lamps; the stars in the constellations are the pearls.
ਧੂਪੁ ਮਲਆਨਲੋ ਪਵਣੁ ਚਵਰੋ ਕਰੇ ਸਗਲ ਬਨਰਾਇ ਫੂਲੰਤ ਜੋਤੀ ॥੧॥
dhoop malaanalo pavan chavaro kare sagal banarai foola(n)t jotee ||1||
The fragrance of sandalwood is the incense, the wind is the fan, and all the vegetation are flowers in offering to You, O Luminous Lord. ||1||
ਕੈਸੀ ਆਰਤੀ ਹੋਇ ਭਵ ਖੰਡਨਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਰਤੀ ॥
kaisee aaratee hoi bhav kha(n)ddanaa teree aaratee ||
What a beautiful lamp-lit worship service this is! O Destroyer of fear, this is Your Aartee, Your worship service.
ਅਨਹਤਾ ਸਬਦ ਵਾਜੰਤ ਭੇਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
anahataa sabadh vaaja(n)t bheree ||1|| rahaau ||
The sound current of the Shabad is the sounding of the temple drums. ||1||Pause||
ਸਹਸ ਤਵ ਨੈਨ ਨਨ ਨੈਨ ਹੈ ਤੋਹਿ ਕਉ ਸਹਸ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਨਨਾ ਏਕ ਤੋਹੀ ॥
sahas tav nain nan nain hai toh kau sahas moorat nanaa ek tohee ||
Thousands are Your eyes, and yet You have no eyes. Thousands are Your forms, and yet You have not even one form.
ਸਹਸ ਪਦ ਬਿਮਲ ਨਨ ਏਕ ਪਦ ਗੰਧ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਹਸ ਤਵ ਗੰਧ ਇਵ ਚਲਤ ਮੋਹੀ ॥੨॥
sahas padh bimal nan ek padh ga(n)dh bin sahas tav ga(n)dh iv chalat mohee ||2||
Thousands are Your lotus feet, and yet You have no feet. Without a nose, thousands are Your noses. I am enchanted with Your play! ||2||
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
sabh meh jot jot hai soi ||
The Divine Light is within everyone; You are that Light.
ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਚਾਨਣਿ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
tis kai chaanan sabh meh chaanan hoi ||
Yours is that Light which shines within everyone.
ਗੁਰ ਸਾਖੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
gur saakhee jot paragaT hoi ||
By the Guru's Teachings, this Divine Light is revealed.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੁ ਆਰਤੀ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
jo tis bhaavai su aaratee hoi ||3||
That which pleases the Lord is the true worship service. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਮਕਰੰਦ ਲੋਭਿਤ ਮਨੋ ਅਨਦਿਨੋ ਮੋਹਿ ਆਹੀ ਪਿਆਸਾ ॥
har charan kamal makara(n)dh lobhit mano anadhino moh aahee piaasaa ||
My soul is enticed by the honey-sweet lotus feet of the Lord; night and day, I thirst for them.
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਜਲੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਰਿੰਗ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਾਸਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੭॥੯॥
kirapaa jal dheh naanak saari(n)g kau hoi jaa te terai naam vaasaa ||4||1||7||9||
Bless Nanak, the thirsty song-bird, with the water of Your Mercy, that he may come to dwell in Your Name. ||4||1||7||9||
ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ਘਰੁ ੨ ਚਉਪਦੇ
dhanaasaree mahalaa teejaa ghar doojaa chaupadhe
Dhanaasaree, Third Mehla, Second House, Chau-Padhay:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaadh ||
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਇਹੁ ਧਨੁ ਅਖੁਟੁ ਨ ਨਿਖੁਟੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
eih dhan akhuT na nikhuTai na jai ||
This wealth is inexhaustible. It shall never be exhausted, and it shall never be lost.
ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥
poorai satigur dheeaa dhikhai ||
The Perfect True Guru has revealed it to me.
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥
apune satigur kau sadh bal jaiee ||
I am forever a sacrifice to my True Guru.
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥੧॥
gur kirapaa te har ma(n)n vasaiee ||1||
By Guru's Grace, I have enshrined the Lord within my mind. ||1||
ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
se dhanava(n)t har naam liv lai ||
They alone are wealthy, who lovingly attune themselves to the Lord's Name.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur poorai har dhan paragaasiaa har kirapaa te vasai man aai || rahaau ||
The Perfect Guru has revealed to me the Lord's treasure; by the Lord's Grace, it has come to abide in my mind. ||Pause||
ਅਵਗੁਣ ਕਾਟਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
avagun kaaT gun ridhai samai ||
He is rid of his demerits, and his heart is permeated with merit and virtue.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
poore gur kai sahaj subhai ||
By Guru's Grace, he naturally dwells in celestial peace.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
poore gur kee saachee baanee ||
True is the Word of the Perfect Guru's Bani.
ਸੁਖ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥੨॥
sukh man a(n)tar sahaj samaanee ||2||
They bring peace to the mind, and celestial peace is absorbed within. ||2||
ਏਕੁ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਜਨ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥
ek acharaj jan dhekhahu bhaiee ||
O my humble Siblings of Destiny, behold this strange and wonderful thing:
ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
dhubidhaa maar har ma(n)n vasaiee ||
duality is overcome, and the Lord dwells within his mind.
ਨਾਮੁ ਅਮੋਲਕੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
naam amolak na paiaa jai ||
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is priceless; it cannot be taken.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੩॥
gur parasaadh vasai man aai ||3||
By Guru's Grace, it comes to abide in the mind. ||3||
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਵਸੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਇ ॥
sabh meh vasai prabh eko soi ||
He is the One God, abiding within all.
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਘਟਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
gurmatee ghaT paragaT hoi ||
Through the Guru's Teachings, He is revealed in the heart.
ਸਹਜੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਣਿ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ॥
sahaje jin prabh jaan pachhaaniaa ||
One who intuitively knows and realizes God,
