ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੀ ਸਾਚੀ ਕਾਰ ॥

prabh saache kee saachee kaar ||

True is service to the True Lord God.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰ ॥੪॥੪॥

naanak naam savaaranahaar ||4||4||

O Nanak, the Naam is the Embellisher. ||4||4||

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

dhanaasaree mahalaa teejaa ||

Dhanaasaree, Third Mehla:

ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥

jo har seveh tin bal jaau ||

I am a sacrifice to those who serve the Lord.

ਤਿਨ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਉ ॥

tin hiradhai saach sachaa mukh naau ||

The Truth is in their hearts, and the True Name is on their lips.

ਸਾਚੋ ਸਾਚੁ ਸਮਾਲਿਹੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥

saacho saach samaalih dhukh jai ||

Dwelling upon the Truest of the True, their pains are dispelled.

ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥

saachai sabadh vasai man aai ||1||

Through the True Word of the Shabad, the Lord comes to dwell in their minds. ||1||

ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥

gurbaanee sun mail gavaae ||

Listening to the Word of Gurbani, filth is washed off,

ਸਹਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

sahaje har naam ma(n)n vasaae ||1|| rahaau ||

and they naturally enshrine the Lord's Name in their minds. ||1||Pause||

ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁਸਤੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥

kooR kusat tirasanaa agan bujhaae ||

One who conquers fraud, deceit and the fire of desire

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥

a(n)tar saa(n)t sahaj sukh paae ||

finds tranquility, peace and pleasure within.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਚਲੈ ਤਾ ਆਪੁ ਜਾਇ ॥

gur kai bhaanai chalai taa aap jai ||

If one walks in harmony with the Guru's Will, he eliminates his self-conceit.

ਸਾਚੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥੨॥

saach mahal paae har gun gai ||2||

He finds the True Mansion of the Lord's Presence, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||

ਨ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਬਾਣੀ ॥

n sabadh boojhai na jaanai baanee ||

The blind, self-willed manmukh does not understand the Shabad; he does not know the Word of the Guru's Bani,

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧੇ ਦੁਖਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ॥

manmukh a(n)dhe dhukh vihaanee ||

and so he passes his life in misery.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਤਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥

satigur bheTe taa sukh paae ||

But if he meets the True Guru, then he finds peace,

ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਏ ॥੩॥

haumai vichahu Thaak rahaae ||3||

and the ego within is silenced. ||3||

ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਹੀਐ ਦਾਤਾ ਇਕੁ ਸੋਇ ॥

kis no kaheeaai dhaataa ik soi ||

Who else should I speak to? The One Lord is the Giver of all.

ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥

kirapaa kare sabadh milaavaa hoi ||

When He grants His Grace, then we obtain the Word of the Shabad.

ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ॥

mil preetam saache gun gaavaa ||

Meeting with my Beloved, I sing the Glorious Praises of the True Lord.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਭਾਵਾ ॥੪॥੫॥

naanak saache saachaa bhaavaa ||4||5||

O Nanak, becoming truthful, I have become pleasing to the True Lord. ||4||5||

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

dhanaasaree mahalaa teejaa ||

Dhanaasaree, Third Mehla:

ਮਨੁ ਮਰੈ ਧਾਤੁ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥

man marai dhaat mar jai ||

When the mind is conquered, its turbulent wanderings are stopped.

ਬਿਨੁ ਮਨ ਮੂਏ ਕੈਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇ ॥

bin man mooe kaise har pai ||

Without conquering the mind, how can the Lord be found?

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਰੈ ਦਾਰੂ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥

eih man marai dhaaroo jaanai koi ||

Rare is the one who knows the medicine to conquer the mind.

ਮਨੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥

man sabadh marai boojhai jan soi ||1||

The mind is conquered through the Word of the Shabad; this is known to the Lord's humble servant. ||1||

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਬਖਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥

jis no bakhase har dhe vaddiaaiee ||

The Lord forgives him, and blesses him with glory.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

gur parasaadh vasai man aaiee || rahaau ||

By Guru's Grace, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind. ||Pause||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥

gurmukh karanee kaar kamaavai ||

The Gurmukh does good deeds,

ਤਾ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

taa is man kee sojhee paavai ||

and so, he comes to understand this mind.

ਮਨੁ ਮੈ ਮਤੁ ਮੈਗਲ ਮਿਕਦਾਰਾ ॥

man mai mat maigal mikadhaaraa ||

The mind is intoxicated, like the elephant with wine.

ਗੁਰੁ ਅੰਕਸੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੨॥

gur a(n)kas maar jeevaalanahaaraa ||2||

The Guru places the harness upon it, and rejuvenates it. ||2||

ਮਨੁ ਅਸਾਧੁ ਸਾਧੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਈ ॥

man asaadh saadhai jan koiee ||

The mind is undisciplined; only a rare few can discipline it.

ਅਚਰੁ ਚਰੈ ਤਾ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਈ ॥

achar charai taa niramal hoiee ||

If someone eats the uneatable, then he becomes immaculate.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਲਇਆ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥

gurmukh ih man liaa savaar ||

As Gurmukh, his mind is embellished.

ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਤਜੈ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥੩॥

haumai vichahu tajai vikaar ||3||

Egotism and corruption are eradicated from within. ||3||

ਜੋ ਧੁਰਿ ਰਖਿਅਨੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥

jo dhur rakhian mel milai ||

Those whom the Primal Lord keeps united in His Union,

ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜਹਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥

kadhe na vichhuReh sabadh samai ||

shall never be separated from Him; they are merged in the Word of the Shabad.

ਆਪਣੀ ਕਲਾ ਆਪੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਣੈ ॥

aapanee kalaa aape prabh jaanai ||

Only God Himself knows His own power.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥੪॥੬॥

naanak gurmukh naam pachhaanai ||4||6||

O Nanak, the Gurmukh realizes the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||6||

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

dhanaasaree mahalaa teejaa ||

Dhanaasaree, Third Mehla:

ਕਾਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਹਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥

kaachaa dhan sa(n)cheh moorakh gaavaar ||

The ignorant fools amass false wealth.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭੂਲੇ ਅੰਧ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥

manmukh bhoole a(n)dh gaavaar ||

The blind, foolish, self-willed manmukhs have gone astray.

ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੈ ਧਨਿ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

bikhiaa kai dhan sadhaa dhukh hoi ||

Poisonous wealth brings constant pain.

ਨਾ ਸਾਥਿ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥

naa saath jai na paraapat hoi ||1||

It will not go with you, and it will not yield any profit. ||1||

ਸਾਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਪਾਏ ॥

saachaa dhan gurmatee paae ||

True wealth is obtained through the Guru's Teachings.

ਕਾਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਫੁਨਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਏ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

kaachaa dhan fun aavai jaae || rahaau ||

False wealth continues coming and going. ||Pause||

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਸਭਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਗਵਾਰ ॥

manmukh bhoole sabh mareh gavaar ||

The foolish self-willed manmukhs all go astray and die.

ਭਵਜਲਿ ਡੂਬੇ ਨ ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਰਿ ॥

bhavajal ddoobe na uravaar na paar ||

They drown in the terrifying world-ocean, and they cannot reach either this shore, or the one beyond.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ॥

satigur bheTe poorai bhaag ||

But by perfect destiny, they meet the True Guru;

ਸਾਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਬੈਰਾਗਿ ॥੨॥

saach rate ahinis bairaag ||2||

imbued with the True Name, day and night, they remain detached from the world. ||2||

ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥

chahu jug meh a(n)mrit saachee baanee ||

Throughout the four ages, the True Bani of His Word is Ambrosial Nectar.

ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥

poorai bhaag har naam samaanee ||

By perfect destiny, one is absorbed in the True Name.

ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਤਰਸਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਲੋਇ ॥

sidh saadhik taraseh sabh loi ||

The Siddhas, the seekers and all men long for the Name.

ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥

poorai bhaag paraapat hoi ||3||

It is obtained only by perfect destiny. ||3||

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥

sabh kichh saachaa saachaa hai soi ||

The True Lord is everything; He is True.

ਊਤਮ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥

uootam braham pachhaanai koi ||

Only a few realize the exalted Lord God.

ਸਚੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਆਪਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥

sach saachaa sach aap dhiraRaae ||

He is the Truest of the True; He Himself implants the True Name within.
