Jaitsree, Fourth Mehla:
ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਕਛੂਅ ਨ ਜਾਨਹ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਇਆਨਾ ॥
ham baarik kachhooa na jaaneh gat mit tere moorakh mugadh iaanaa ||
I am Your child; I know nothing about Your state and extent; I am foolish, idiotic and ignorant.
ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ਦੀਜੈ ਮਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਜੈ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਸਿਆਨਾ ॥੧॥
har kirapaa dhaar dheejai mat uootam kar leejai mugadh siaanaa ||1||
O Lord, shower me with Your Mercy; bless me with an enlightened intellect; I am foolish - make me clever. ||1||
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਆਲਸੀਆ ਉਘਲਾਨਾ ॥
meraa man aalaseeaa ughalaanaa ||
My mind is lazy and sleepy.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਨਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਓ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਕਪਟ ਖੁਲਾਨਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har aan milaio gur saadhoo mil saadhoo kapaT khulaanaa || rahaau ||
The Lord, Har, Har, has led me to meet the Holy Guru; meeting the Holy, the shutters have been opened wide. ||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਵਹੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਾਨਾ ॥
gur khin khin preet lagaavahu merai heearai mere preetam naam paraanaa ||
O Guru, each and every instant, fill my heart with love; the Name of my Beloved is my breath of life.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਜਿਉ ਅਮਲੀ ਅਮਲਿ ਲੁਭਾਨਾ ॥੨॥
bin naavai mar jaieeaai mere Thaakur jiau amalee amal lubhaanaa ||2||
Without the Name, I would die; the Name of my Lord and Master is to me like the drug to the addict. ||2||
ਜਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਧੁਰਿ ਭਾਗ ਪੁਰਾਨਾ ॥
jin man preet lagee har keree tin dhur bhaag puraanaa ||
Those who enshrine love for the Lord within their minds fulfill their pre-ordained destiny.
ਤਿਨ ਹਮ ਚਰਣ ਸਰੇਵਹ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠ ਲਗਾਨਾ ॥੩॥
tin ham charan sareveh khin khin jin har meeTh lagaanaa ||3||
I worship their feet, each and every instant; the Lord seems very sweet to them. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਬਿਛੁਰਿਆ ਚਿਰੀ ਮਿਲਾਨਾ ॥
har har kirapaa dhaaree merai Thaakur jan bichhuriaa chiree milaanaa ||
My Lord and Master, Har, Har, has showered His Mercy upon His humble servant; separated for so long, he is now re-united with the Lord.
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਨਾ ॥੪॥੩॥
dhan dhan satigur jin naam dhiraRaiaa jan naanak tis kurabaanaa ||4||3||
Blessed, blessed is the True Guru, who has implanted the Naam, the Name of the Lord within me; servant Nanak is a sacrifice to Him. ||4||3||

Jaitsree, Fourth Mehla:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਵਡ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਫਲ ਲਾਗਿਬਾ ॥
satigur saajan purakh vadd paiaa har rasak rasak fal laagibaa ||
I have found the True Guru, my Friend, the Greatest Being. Love and affection for the Lord has blossomed forth.
ਮਾਇਆ ਭੁਇਅੰਗ ਗ੍ਰਸਿਓ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਬਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਢਿਬਾ ॥੧॥
maiaa bhuia(n)g grasio hai praanee gur bachanee bis har kaaddibaa ||1||
Maya, the snake, has seized the mortal; through the Word of the Guru, the Lord neutralizes the venom. ||1||
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਰਸਿ ਲਾਗਿਬਾ ॥
meraa man raam naam ras laagibaa ||
My mind is attached to the sublime essence of the Lord's Name.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਏ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧ ਗੁਰ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿਬਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har ke'ee patit pavitr mil saadh gur har naamai har ras chaakhibaa || rahaau ||
The Lord has purified the sinners, uniting them with the Holy Guru; now, they taste the Lord's Name, and the sublime essence of the Lord. ||Pause||
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਵਡਭਾਗ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਲਿਵ ਉਨਮਨਿ ਲਾਗਿਬਾ ॥
dhan dhan vaddabhaag milio gur saadhoo mil saadhoo liv unaman laagibaa ||
Blessed, blessed is the good fortune of those who meet the Holy Guru; meeting with the Holy, they lovingly center themselves in the state of absolute absorption.
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝੀ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇਬਾ ॥੨॥
tirasanaa agan bujhee saa(n)t paiee har niramal niramal gun gaibaa ||2||
The fire of desire within them is quenched, and they find peace; they sing the Glorious Praises of the Immaculate Lord. ||2||
ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਭਾਗ ਖੀਨ ਧੁਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦਰਸੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਬਾ ॥
tin ke bhaag kheen dhur paae jin satigur dharas na paibaa ||
Those who do not obtain the Blessed Vision of the True Guru's Darshan, have misfortune pre-ordained for them.
ਤੇ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਵਹਿ ਗ੍ਰਭ ਜੋਨੀ ਸਭੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਤਿਨ ਜਾਇਬਾ ॥੩॥
te dhoojai bhai paveh grabh jonee sabh birathaa janam tin jaibaa ||3||
In the love of duality, they are consigned to reincarnation through the womb, and they pass their lives totally uselessly. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਬਿਮਲ ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਧ ਪਗ ਸੇਵਹ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠ ਲਗਾਇਬਾ ॥
har dheh bimal mat gur saadh pag seveh ham har meeTh lagaibaa ||
O Lord, please, bless me with pure understanding, that I may serve the Feet of the Holy Guru; the Lord seems sweet to me.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਰੇਣ ਸਾਧ ਪਗ ਮਾਗੈ ਹਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਦਿਵਾਇਬਾ ॥੪॥੪॥
jan naanak ren saadh pag maagai har hoi dhiaal dhivaibaa ||4||4||
Servant Nanak begs for the dust of the feet of the Holy; O Lord, be Merciful, and bless me with it. ||4||4||

Jaitsree, Fourth Mehla:
ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਬਸਿਓ ਤਿਨ ਮਾਤ ਕੀਜੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਂਝਾ ॥
jin har hiradhai naam na basio tin maat keejai har baa(n)jhaa ||
The Lord's Name does not abide within their hearts - their mothers should have been sterile.
ਤਿਨ ਸੁੰਞੀ ਦੇਹ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਓਇ ਖਪਿ ਖਪਿ ਮੁਏ ਕਰਾਂਝਾ ॥੧॥
tin su(n)n(j)ee dheh fireh bin naavai oi khap khap mue karaa(n)jhaa ||1||
These bodies wander around, forlorn and abandoned, without the Name; their lives waste away, and they die, crying out in pain. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਜਪਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਝਾ ॥
mere man jap raam naam har maajhaa ||
O my mind, chant the Name of the Lord, the Lord within you.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਗੁਰਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਦੀਓ ਮਨੁ ਸਮਝਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har kirapaal kirapaa prabh dhaaree gur giaan dheeo man samajhaa || rahaau ||
The Merciful Lord God, Har, Har, has showered me with His Mercy; the Guru has imparted spiritual wisdom to me, and my mind has been instructed. ||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਕਲਜੁਗਿ ਪਦੁ ਊਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਾਝਾ ॥
har keerat kalajug padh uootam har paieeaai satigur maajhaa ||
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Kirtan of the Lord's Praise brings the most noble and exalted status; the Lord is found through the True Guru.
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਝਾ ॥੨॥
hau balihaaree satigur apune jin gupat naam paragaajhaa ||2||
I am a sacrifice to my True Guru, who has revealed the Lord's hidden Name to me. ||2||
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸਾਧ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਗਏ ਗਵਾਝਾ ॥
dharasan saadh milio vaddabhaagee sabh kilabikh ge gavaajhaa ||
By great good fortune, I obtained the Blessed Vision of the Darshan of the Holy; it removes all stains of sin.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਹੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਵਡ ਦਾਣਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਏ ਬਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਝਾ ॥੩॥
satigur saahu paiaa vadd dhaanaa har ke'ee bahu gun saajhaa ||3||
I have found the True Guru, the great, all-knowing King; He has shared with me the many Glorious Virtues of the Lord. ||3||
