ਯਾਰ ਵੇ ਤੈ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਲਾਲਨੁ ਮੂ ਦਸਿ ਦਸੰਦਾ ॥
yaar ve tai raaviaa laalan moo dhas dhasa(n)dhaa ||
O intimate friend, you have enjoyed your Beloved; please, tell me about Him.
ਲਾਲਨੁ ਤੈ ਪਾਇਆ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਜੈ ਧਨ ਭਾਗ ਮਥਾਣੇ ॥
laalan tai paiaa aap gavaiaa jai dhan bhaag mathaane ||
They alone find their Beloved, who eradicate self-conceit; such is the good destiny written on their foreheads.
ਬਾਂਹ ਪਕੜਿ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਹਉ ਘਿਧੀ ਗੁਣ ਅਵਗਣ ਨ ਪਛਾਣੇ ॥
baa(n)h pakaR Thaakur hau ghidhee gun avagan na pachhaane ||
Taking me by the arm, the Lord and Master has made me His own; He has not considered my merits or demerits.
ਗੁਣ ਹਾਰੁ ਤੈ ਪਾਇਆ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਲੁ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਹਭੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੁਹੰਦਾ ॥
gun haar tai paiaa ra(n)g laal banaiaa tis habho kichh suha(n)dhaa ||
She, whom You have adorned with the necklace of virtue, and dyed in the deep crimson color of His Love - everything looks beautiful on her.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਧੰਨਿ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਸਾਈ ਜਿਸੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਭਤਾਰੁ ਵਸੰਦਾ ॥੩॥
jan naanak dha(n)n suhaagan saiee jis sa(n)g bhataar vasa(n)dhaa ||3||
O servant Nanak, blessed is that happy soul-bride, who dwells with her Husband Lord. ||3||
ਯਾਰ ਵੇ ਨਿਤ ਸੁਖ ਸੁਖੇਦੀ ਸਾ ਮੈ ਪਾਈ ॥
yaar ve nit sukh sukhedhee saa mai paiee ||
O intimate friend, I have found that peace which I sought.
ਵਰੁ ਲੋੜੀਦਾ ਆਇਆ ਵਜੀ ਵਾਧਾਈ ॥
var loReedhaa aaiaa vajee vaadhaiee ||
My sought-after Husband Lord has come home, and now, congratulations are pouring in.
ਮਹਾ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਰਹਸੁ ਥੀਆ ਪਿਰੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਸਦ ਨਵ ਰੰਗੀਆ ॥
mahaa ma(n)gal rahas theeaa pir dhiaal sadh nav ra(n)geeaa ||
Great joy and happiness welled up, when my Husband Lord, of ever-fresh beauty, showed mercy to me.
ਵਡ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸਤਸੰਗੀਆ ॥
vadd bhaag paiaa gur milaiaa saadh kai satasa(n)geeaa ||
By great good fortune, I have found Him; the Guru has united me with Him, through the Saadh Sangat, the True Congregation of the Holy.
ਆਸਾ ਮਨਸਾ ਸਗਲ ਪੂਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਅੰਕਿ ਅੰਕੁ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥
aasaa manasaa sagal pooree pria a(n)k a(n)k milaiee ||
My hopes and desires have all been fulfilled; my Beloved Husband Lord has hugged me close in His embrace.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸੁਖ ਸੁਖੇਦੀ ਸਾ ਮੈ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥
binava(n)t naanak sukh sukhedhee saa mai gur mil paiee ||4||1||
Prays Nanak, I have found that peace which I sought, meeting with the Guru. ||4||1||

uoochaa agam apaar prabh kathan na jai akath ||
God is lofty, unapproachable and infinite. He is indescribable - He cannot be described.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਰਾਖਨ ਕਉ ਸਮਰਥੁ ॥੧॥
naanak prabh saranaagatee raakhan kau samarath ||1||
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of God, who is all-powerful to save us. ||1||

Save me, any way You can; O Lord God, I am Yours.
ਕੇਤੇ ਗਨਉ ਅਸੰਖ ਅਵਗਣ ਮੇਰਿਆ ॥
kete ganau asa(n)kh avagan meriaa ||
My demerits are uncountable; how many of them should I count?
ਅਸੰਖ ਅਵਗਣ ਖਤੇ ਫੇਰੇ ਨਿਤਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਸਦ ਭੂਲੀਐ ॥
asa(n)kh avagan khate fere nitaprat sadh bhooleeaai ||
The sins and crimes I committed are countless; day by day, I continually make mistakes.
ਮੋਹ ਮਗਨ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਤਉ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦੀ ਘੂਲੀਐ ॥
moh magan bikaraal maiaa tau prasaadhee ghooleeaai ||
I am intoxicated by emotional attachment to Maya, the treacherous one; by Your Grace alone can I be saved.
ਲੂਕ ਕਰਤ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਬਿਖੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨੇਰ ਹੂ ਤੇ ਨੇਰਿਆ ॥
look karat bikaar bikhaRe prabh ner hoo te neriaa ||
Secretly, I commit hideous sins of corruption, even though God is the nearest of the near.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਕਾਢਿ ਭਵਜਲ ਫੇਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
binava(n)t naanak dhiaa dhaarahu kaadd bhavajal feriaa ||1||
Prays Nanak, shower me with Your Mercy, Lord, and lift me up, out of the whirlpool of the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||

ਨਿਰਤਿ ਨ ਪਵੈ ਅਸੰਖ ਗੁਣ ਊਚਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
nirat na pavai asa(n)kh gun uoochaa prabh kaa naau ||
Countless are His virtues; they cannot be enumerated. God's Name is lofty and exalted.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀਆ ਮਿਲੈ ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਥਾਉ ॥੨॥
naanak kee bena(n)teeaa milai nithaave thaau ||2||
This is Nanak's humble prayer, to bless the homeless with a home. ||2||

ਦੂਸਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਠਾਉ ਕਾ ਪਹਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
dhoosar naahee Thaau kaa peh jaieeaai ||
There is no other place at all - where else should I go?
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
aaTh pahar kar joR so prabh dhiaaieeaai ||
Twenty-four hours a day, with my palms pressed together, I meditate on God.
ਧਿਆਇ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦਾ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਮਨਹਿ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
dhiaai so prabh sadhaa apunaa maneh chi(n)dhiaa paieeaai ||
Meditating forever on my God, I receive the fruits of my mind's desires.
ਤਜਿ ਮਾਨ ਮੋਹੁ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਏਕ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈਐ ॥
taj maan moh vikaar dhoojaa ek siau liv laieeaai ||
Renouncing pride, attachment, corruption and duality, I lovingly center my attention on the One Lord.
ਅਰਪਿ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਗੈ ਆਪੁ ਸਗਲ ਮਿਟਾਈਐ ॥
arap man tan prabhoo aagai aap sagal miTaieeaai ||
Dedicate your mind and body to God; eradicate all your self-conceit.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਧਾਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸਾਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
binava(n)t naanak dhaar kirapaa saach naam samaieeaai ||2||
Prays Nanak, shower me with Your mercy, Lord, that I may be absorbed in Your True Name. ||2||

ਰੇ ਮਨ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਾਥਿ ॥
re man taa kau dhiaaieeaai sabh bidh jaa kai haath ||
O mind, meditate on the One, who holds everything in His hands.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਸਾਥਿ ॥੩॥
raam naam dhan sa(n)cheeaai naanak nibahai saath ||3||
Gather the wealth of the Lord's Name; O Nanak, it shall always be with You. ||3||

ਸਾਥੀਅੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ਦੂਸਰ ਨਾਹਿ ਕੋਇ ॥

God is our only True Friend; there is not any other.
ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਪੂਰ ਸੋਇ ॥
thaan thana(n)tar aap jal thal poor soi ||
In the places and interspaces, in the water and on the land, He Himself is pervading everywhere.
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਰਬ ਦਾਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਨੀ ॥
jal thal maheeal poor rahiaa sarab dhaataa prabh dhanee ||
He is totally permeating the water, the land and the sky; God is the Great Giver, the Lord and Master of all.
ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਅੰਤੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਗੁਣ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਿਆ ਗਨੀ ॥
gopaal gobi(n)dh a(n)t naahee bea(n)t gun taa ke kiaa ganee ||
The Lord of the world, the Lord of the universe has no limit; His Glorious Virtues are unlimited - how can I count them?
ਭਜੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੁਖਹ ਗਾਮੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨਾ ਅਨ ਨਾਹਿ ਕੋਇ ॥
bhaj saran suaamee sukheh gaamee tis binaa an naeh koi ||
I have hurried to the Sanctuary of the Lord Master, the Bringer of peace; without Him, there is no other at all.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
binava(n)t naanak dhiaa dhaarahu tis paraapat naam hoi ||3||
Prays Nanak, that being, unto whom the Lord shows mercy - he alone obtains the Naam. ||3||
