bhaeh bala(n)dhaRee bujh giee rakha(n)dhaRo prabh aap ||
The burning fire has been put out; God Himself has saved me.
ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਮੇਦਨੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਪਿ ॥੨॥
jin upaiee medhanee naanak so prabh jaap ||2||
Meditate on that God, O Nanak, who created the universe. ||2||

ਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
jaa prabh bhe dhiaal na biaapai maiaa ||
When God becomes merciful, Maya does not cling.
ਕੋਟਿ ਅਘਾ ਗਏ ਨਾਸ ਹਰਿ ਇਕੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
koT aghaa ge naas har ik dhiaaiaa ||
Millions of sins are eliminated, by meditating on the Naam, the Name of the One Lord.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਭਏ ਸਰੀਰ ਜਨ ਧੂਰੀ ਨਾਇਆ ॥
niramal bhe sareer jan dhooree naiaa ||
The body is made immaculate and pure, bathing in the dust of the feet of the Lord's humble servants.
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਭਏ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
man tan bhe sa(n)tokh pooran prabh paiaa ||
The mind and body become contented, finding the Perfect Lord God.
ਤਰੇ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸੰਗਿ ਲੋਗ ਕੁਲ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥੧੮॥
tare kuTa(n)b sa(n)g log kul sabaiaa ||18||
One is saved, along with his family, and all his ancestors. ||18||

ਗੁਰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੁਰ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰਨ ਨਾਰਾਇਣਹ ॥
gur gobi(n)dh gopaal gur gur pooran naaraineh ||
The Guru is the Lord of the Universe; the Guru is the Lord of the world; the Guru is the Perfect Pervading Lord God.
ਗੁਰ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਮਰਥ ਗੁਰ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਣਹ ॥੧॥
gur dhiaal samarath gur gur naanak patit udhaaraneh ||1||
The Guru is compassionate; the Guru is all-powerful; the Guru, O Nanak, is the Saving Grace of sinners. ||1||
ਭਉਜਲੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਅਸਗਾਹੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਬੋਹਿਥੈ ਤਾਰਿਅਮੁ ॥
bhaujal bikham asagaahu gur bohithai taariam ||
The Guru is the boat, to cross over the dangerous, treacherous, unfathomable world-ocean.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰ ਕਰੰਮ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਗਿਆ ॥੨॥
naanak poor kara(n)m satigur charanee lagiaa ||2||
O Nanak, by perfect good karma, one is attached to the feet of the True Guru. ||2||

ਧੰਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਜਿਸੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੇ ॥

Blessed, blessed is the Divine Guru; associating with Him, one meditates on the Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਜਬ ਭਏ ਤ ਅਵਗੁਣ ਸਭਿ ਛਪੇ ॥
gur kirapaal jab bhe ta avagun sabh chhape ||
When the Guru becomes merciful, then all one's demerits are dispelled.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਨੀਚਹੁ ਉਚ ਥਪੇ ॥
paarabraham gurdhev neechahu uch thape ||
The Supreme Lord God, the Divine Guru, uplifts and exalts the lowly.
ਕਾਟਿ ਸਿਲਕ ਦੁਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਅਪ ਦਸੇ ॥
kaaT silak dhukh maiaa kar leene ap dhase ||
Cutting away the painful noose of Maya, He makes us His own slaves.
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੇ ॥੧੯॥
gun gaae bea(n)t rasanaa har jase ||19||
With my tongue, I sing the Glorious Praises of the infinite Lord God. ||19||

ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੰਤ ਏਕੋ ਸੁਨੀਅੰਤ ਏਕੋ ਵਰਤੰਤ ਏਕੋ ਨਰਹਰਹ ॥
dhirasaTa(n)t eko suneea(n)t eko varata(n)t eko narahareh ||
I see only the One Lord; I hear only the One Lord; the One Lord is all-pervading.
ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨੁ ਜਾਚੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਇਆਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹ ॥੧॥
naam dhaan jaacha(n)t naanak dhiaal purakh kirapaa kareh ||1||
Nanak begs for the gift of the Naam; O Merciful Lord God, please grant Your Grace. ||1||
ਹਿਕੁ ਸੇਵੀ ਹਿਕੁ ਸੰਮਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਇਕਸੁ ਪਹਿ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
hik sevee hik sa(n)malaa har ikas peh aradhaas ||
I serve the One Lord, I contemplate the One Lord, and to the One Lord, I offer my prayer.
ਨਾਮ ਵਖਰੁ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥੨॥
naam vakhar dhan sa(n)chiaa naanak sachee raas ||2||
Nanak has gathered in the wealth, the merchandise of the Naam; this is the true capital. ||2||

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਇਆਲ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪੂਰਨ ਇਕੁ ਏਹੁ ॥

God is merciful and infinite. The One and Only is all-pervading.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਕਹਾ ਕੇਹੁ ॥
sabh kichh aape aap dhoojaa kahaa keh ||
He Himself is all-in-all. Who else can we speak of?
ਆਪਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਾਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥
aap karahu prabh dhaan aape aap leh ||
God Himself grants His gifts, and He Himself receives them.
ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਸਭੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਤੁਧੁ ਥੇਹੁ ॥
aavan jaanaa hukam sabh nihachal tudh theh ||
Coming and going are all by the Hukam of Your Will; Your place is steady and unchanging.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹੁ ॥੨੦॥੧॥
naanak ma(n)gai dhaan kar kirapaa naam dheh ||20||1||
Nanak begs for this gift; by Your Grace, Lord, please grant me Your Name. ||20||1||

O my Lord and Master, I know nothing.
ਮਨੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੈ ਹਾਥਿ ਬਿਕਾਨਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man maiaa kai haath bikaanau ||1|| rahaau ||
My mind has sold out, and is in Maya's hands. ||1||Pause||
ਤੁਮ ਕਹੀਅਤ ਹੌ ਜਗਤ ਗੁਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
tum kaheeat hau jagat gur suaamee ||
You are called the Lord and Master, the Guru of the World.
ਹਮ ਕਹੀਅਤ ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਕੇ ਕਾਮੀ ॥੧॥
ham kaheeat kalijug ke kaamee ||1||
I am called a lustful being of the Dark Age of Kali Yuga. ||1||
ਇਨ ਪੰਚਨ ਮੇਰੋ ਮਨੁ ਜੁ ਬਿਗਾਰਿਓ ॥
ein pa(n)chan mero manu ju bigaario ||
The five vices have corrupted my mind.
ਪਲੁ ਪਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਤੇ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਪਾਰਿਓ ॥੨॥
pal pal har jee te a(n)tar paario ||2||
Moment by moment, they lead me further away from the Lord. ||2||
ਜਤ ਦੇਖਉ ਤਤ ਦੁਖ ਕੀ ਰਾਸੀ ॥
jat dhekhau tat dhukh kee raasee ||
Wherever I look, I see loads of pain and suffering.
ਅਜੌਂ ਨ ਪਤੵਾਇ ਨਿਗਮ ਭਏ ਸਾਖੀ ॥੩॥
ajaua(n) na patayeai nigam bhe saakhee ||3||
I do not have faith, even though the Vedas bear witness to the Lord. ||3||
ਗੋਤਮ ਨਾਰਿ ਉਮਾਪਤਿ ਸ੍ਵਾਮੀ ॥ ਸੀਸੁ ਧਰਨਿ ਸਹਸ ਭਗ ਗਾਂਮੀ ॥੪॥
gotam naar umaapat savaiaamee || sees dharan sahas bhag gaa(n)mee ||4||
Shiva cut off Brahma's head, and Gautam's wife and the Lord Indra mated; Brahma's head got stuck to Shiva's hand, and Indra came to bear the marks of a thousand female organs. ||4||
ਇਨ ਦੂਤਨ ਖਲੁ ਬਧੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਰਿਓ ॥
ein dhootan khal badh kar maario ||
These demons have fooled, bound and destroyed me.
ਬਡੋ ਨਿਲਾਜੁ ਅਜਹੂ ਨਹੀ ਹਾਰਿਓ ॥੫॥
baddo nilaaj ajahoo nahee haario ||5||
I am very shameless - even now, I am not tired of them. ||5||
ਕਹਿ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਕਹਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
keh ravidhaas kahaa kaise keejai ||
Says Ravi Daas, what am I to do now?
ਬਿਨੁ ਰਘੁਨਾਥ ਸਰਨਿ ਕਾ ਕੀ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੬॥੧॥
bin raghunaath saran kaa kee leejai ||6||1||
Without the Sanctuary of the Lord's Protection, who else's should I seek? ||6||1||
