ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਛੂਟੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
gur parasaadhee ko viralaa chhooTai tis jan kau hau balihaaree ||3||
By Guru's Grace, a few rare ones are saved; I am a sacrifice to those humble beings. ||3||
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਸਾਜੀ ਸੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਪਾਰੋ ॥
jin sisaT saajee soiee har jaanai taa kaa roop apaaro ||
The One who created the Universe, that Lord alone knows. His beauty is incomparable.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੪॥
naanak aape vekh har bigasai gurmukh braham beechaaro ||4||3||14||
O Nanak, the Lord Himself gazes upon it, and is pleased. The Gurmukh contemplates God. ||4||3||14||
ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥
soohee mahalaa chauthhaa ||
Soohee, Fourth Mehla:
ਕੀਤਾ ਕਰਣਾ ਸਰਬ ਰਜਾਈ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਚੈ ਜੇ ਕਰਿ ਸਕੀਐ ॥
keetaa karanaa sarab rajaiee kichh keechai je kar sakeeaai ||
All that happens, and all that will happen, is by His Will. If we could do something by ourselves, we would.
ਆਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਖੀਐ ॥੧॥
aapanaa keetaa kichhoo na hovai jiau har bhaavai tiau rakheeaai ||1||
By ourselves, we cannot do anything at all. As it pleases the Lord, He preserves us. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤੇਰੈ ਵਸਿ ॥
mere har jeeau sabh ko terai vas ||
O my Dear Lord, everything is in Your power.
ਅਸਾ ਜੋਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਿ ਹਮ ਸਾਕਹ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਬਖਸਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
asaa jor naahee je kichh kar ham saakeh jiau bhaavai tivai bakhas ||1|| rahaau ||
I have no power to do anything at all. As it pleases You, You forgive us. ||1||Pause||
ਸਭੁ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਦੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
sabh jeeau pi(n)dd dheeaa tudh aape tudh aape kaarai laiaa ||
You Yourself bless us with soul, body and everything. You Yourself cause us to act.
ਜੇਹਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੇਹੇ ਕੋ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਜੇਹਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
jehaa too(n) hukam kareh tehe ko karam kamaavai jehaa tudh dhur likh paiaa ||2||
As You issue Your Commands, so do we act, according to our pre-ordained destiny. ||2||
ਪੰਚ ਤਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਸਾਜੀ ਕੋਈ ਛੇਵਾ ਕਰਿਉ ਜੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
pa(n)ch tat kar tudh sirasaT sabh saajee koiee chhevaa kariau je kichh keetaa hovai ||
You created the entire Universe out of the five elements; if anyone can create a sixth, let him.
ਇਕਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਤੂੰ ਬੁਝਾਵਹਿ ਇਕਿ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਿ ਰੋਵੈ ॥੩॥
eikanaa satigur mel too(n) bujhaaveh ik manmukh kareh s rovai ||3||
You unite some with the True Guru, and cause them to understand, while others, the self-willed manmukhs, do their deeds and cry out in pain. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਉ ਆਖਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਾ ਹਉ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਨੀਚਾਣੁ ॥
har kee vaddiaaiee hau aakh na saakaa hau moorakh mugadh neechaan ||
I cannot describe the glorious greatness of the Lord; I am foolish, thoughtless, idiotic and lowly.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਖਸਿ ਲੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਪਇਆ ਅਜਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੫॥੨੪॥
jan naanak kau har bakhas lai mere suaamee saranaagat piaa ajaan ||4||4||15||24||
Please, forgive servant Nanak, O my Lord and Master; I am ignorant, but I have entered Your Sanctuary. ||4||4||15||24||

Raag Soohee, Fifth Mehla, First House:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaadh ||
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਬਾਜੀਗਰਿ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਾਜੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
baajeegar jaise baajee paiee ||
The actor stages the play,
ਨਾਨਾ ਰੂਪ ਭੇਖ ਦਿਖਲਾਈ ॥
naanaa roop bhekh dhikhalaiee ||
playing the many characters in different costumes;
ਸਾਂਗੁ ਉਤਾਰਿ ਥੰਮਿੑਓ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥
saa(n)g utaar tha(n)mi(h)o paasaaraa ||
but when the play ends, he takes off the costumes,
ਤਬ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੰਕਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
tab eko eka(n)kaaraa ||1||
and then he is one, and only one. ||1||
ਕਵਨ ਰੂਪ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਓ ਬਿਨਸਾਇਓ ॥
kavan roop dhirasaTio binasaio ||
How many forms and images appeared and disappeared?
ਕਤਹਿ ਗਇਓ ਉਹੁ ਕਤ ਤੇ ਆਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kateh gio uh kat te aaio ||1|| rahaau ||
Where have they gone? Where did they come from? ||1||Pause||
ਜਲ ਤੇ ਊਠਹਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਤਰੰਗਾ ॥
jal te uooTheh anik tara(n)gaa ||
Countless waves rise up from the water.
ਕਨਿਕ ਭੂਖਨ ਕੀਨੇ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗਾ ॥
kanik bhookhan keene bahu ra(n)gaa ||
Jewels and ornaments of many different forms are fashioned from gold.
ਬੀਜੁ ਬੀਜਿ ਦੇਖਿਓ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਕਾਰਾ ॥
beej beej dhekhio bahu parakaaraa ||
I have seen seeds of all kinds being planted
ਫਲ ਪਾਕੇ ਤੇ ਏਕੰਕਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
fal paake te eka(n)kaaraa ||2||
- when the fruit ripens, the seeds appear in the same form as the original. ||2||
ਸਹਸ ਘਟਾ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਆਕਾਸੁ ॥
sahas ghaTaa meh ek aakaas ||
The one sky is reflected in thousands of water jugs,
ਘਟ ਫੂਟੇ ਤੇ ਓਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
ghaT fooTe te ohee pragaas ||
but when the jugs are broken, only the sky remains.
ਭਰਮ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
bharam lobh moh maiaa vikaar ||
Doubt comes from greed, emotional attachment and the corruption of Maya.
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਛੂਟੇ ਤੇ ਏਕੰਕਾਰ ॥੩॥
bhram chhooTe te eka(n)kaar ||3||
Freed from doubt, one realizes the One Lord alone. ||3||
ਓਹੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਬਿਨਸਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
oh abinaasee binasat naahee ||
He is imperishable; He will never pass away.
ਨਾ ਕੋ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਹੀ ॥
naa ko aavai naa ko jaahee ||
He does not come, and He does not go.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਈ ॥
gur poorai haumai mal dhoiee ||
The Perfect Guru has washed away the filth of ego.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੪॥੧॥
kahu naanak meree param gat hoiee ||4||1||
Says Nanak, I have obtained the supreme status. ||4||1||
ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
soohee mahalaa panjavaa ||
Soohee, Fifth Mehla:
ਕੀਤਾ ਲੋੜਹਿ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹੋਇ ॥
keetaa loReh so prabh hoi ||
Whatever God wills, that alone happens.
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
tujh bin dhoojaa naahee koi ||
Without You, there is no other at all.
ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਜ ॥
jo jan seve tis pooran kaaj ||
The humble being serves Him, and so all his works are perfectly successful.
ਦਾਸ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕੀ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਲਾਜ ॥੧॥
dhaas apune kee raakhahu laaj ||1||
O Lord, please preserve the honor of Your slaves. ||1||
ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
teree saran pooran dhiaalaa ||
I seek Your Sanctuary, O Perfect, Merciful Lord.
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਵਨੁ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tujh bin kavan kare pratipaalaa ||1|| rahaau ||
Without You, who would cherish and love me? ||1||Pause||
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
jal thal maheeal rahiaa bharapoor ||
He is permeating and pervading the water, the land and the sky.
ਨਿਕਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
nikaT vasai naahee prabh dhoor ||
God dwells near at hand; He is not far away.
ਲੋਕ ਪਤੀਆਰੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
lok pateeaarai kachhoo na paieeaai ||
By trying to please other people, nothing is accomplished.
ਸਾਚਿ ਲਗੈ ਤਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
saach lagai taa haumai jaieeaai ||2||
When someone is attached to the True Lord, his ego is taken away. ||2||
