ਸਭੇ ਇਛਾ ਪੂਰੀਆ ਜਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
sabhe ichhaa pooreeaa jaa paiaa agam apaaraa ||
All desires are fulfilled, when the Inaccessible and Infinite Lord is obtained.
ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਤੇਰਿਆ ਚਰਣਾ ਕਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੪੭॥
gur naanak miliaa paarabraham teriaa charanaa kau balihaaraa ||4||1||47||
Guru Nanak has met the Supreme Lord God; I am a sacrifice to Your Feet. ||4||1||47||

Raag Soohee, Fifth Mehla, Seventh House:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਤੂਹੈ ਮਨਾਇਹਿ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹੋਹਿ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
teraa bhaanaa toohai manaieh jis no hoh dhiaalaa ||
He alone obeys Your Will, O Lord, unto whom You are Merciful.
ਸਾਈ ਭਗਤਿ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤੂੰ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥੧॥
saiee bhagat jo tudh bhaavai too(n) sarab jeeaa pratipaalaa ||1||
That alone is devotional worship, which is pleasing to Your Will. You are the Cherisher of all beings. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਸੰਤਾ ਟੇਕ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੀ ॥
mere raam rai sa(n)taa Tek tum(h)aaree ||
O my Sovereign Lord, You are the Support of the Saints.
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਤੂਹੈ ਅਧਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo tudh bhaavai so paravaan man tan toohai adhaaree ||1|| rahaau ||
Whatever pleases You, they accept. You are the sustenance of their minds and bodies. ||1||Pause||
ਤੂੰ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
too(n) dhiaal kirapaal kirapaa nidh manasaa pooranahaaraa ||
You are kind and compassionate, the treasure of mercy, the fulfiller of our hopes.
ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਪਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਤੂੰ ਭਗਤਨ ਕਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥੨॥
bhagat tere sabh praanapat preetam too(n) bhagatan kaa piaaraa ||2||
You are the Beloved Lord of life of all Your devotees; You are the Beloved of Your devotees. ||2||
ਤੂ ਅਥਾਹੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਅਤਿ ਊਚਾ ਕੋਈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਾਤੇ ॥
too athaahu apaar at uoochaa koiee avar na teree bhaate ||
You are unfathomable, infinite, lofty and exalted. There is no one else like You.
ਇਹ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਿਸਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ॥੩॥
eeh aradhaas hamaaree suaamee visar naahee sukhadhaate ||3||
This is my prayer, O my Lord and Master; may I never forget You, O Peace-giving Lord. ||3||
ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਜੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਾ ॥
dhin rain saas saas gun gaavaa je suaamee tudh bhaavaa ||
Day and night, with each and every breath, I sing Your Glorious Praises, if it is pleasing to Your Will.
ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੁਠੈ ਪਾਵਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੪੮॥
naam teraa sukh naanak maagai saahib tuThai paavaa ||4||1||48||
Nanak begs for the peace of Your Name, O Lord and Master; as it is pleasing to Your Will, I shall attain it. ||4||1||48||
ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Soohee, Fifth Mehla:
ਵਿਸਰਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਤੂ ਕਬਹੂ ਸੋ ਥਾਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੇਹਾ ॥
visareh naahee jit too kabahoo so thaan teraa kehaa ||
Where is that place, where You are never forgotten, Lord?
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਜਿਤੁ ਤੁਧੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੋਵੈ ਦੇਹਾ ॥੧॥
aaTh pahar jit tudh dhiaaiee niramal hovai dhehaa ||1||
Twenty-four hours a day, they meditate on You, and their bodies become spotless and pure. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਹਉ ਸੋ ਥਾਨੁ ਭਾਲਣ ਆਇਆ ॥
mere raam hau so thaan bhaalan aaiaa ||
O my Lord, I have come searching for that place.
ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਭਇਆ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਤਿਨੑ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
khojat khojat bhiaa saadhasa(n)g tin(h) saranaiee paiaa ||1|| rahaau ||
After seeking and searching, I found Sanctuary in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||Pause||
ਬੇਦ ਪੜੇ ਪੜਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੇ ਹਾਰੇ ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
bedh paRe paR brahame haare ik til nahee keemat paiee ||
Reading and reciting the Vedas, Brahma grew weary, but he did not find even a tiny bit of God's worth.
ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਬਿਲਲਾਤੇ ਤੇ ਭੀ ਮੋਹੇ ਮਾਈ ॥੨॥
saadhik sidh fireh bilalaate te bhee mohe maiee ||2||
The seekers and Siddhas wander around bewailing; they too are enticed by Maya. ||2||
ਦਸ ਅਉਤਾਰ ਰਾਜੇ ਹੋਇ ਵਰਤੇ ਮਹਾਦੇਵ ਅਉਧੂਤਾ ॥
dhas aautaar raaje hoi varate mahaadhev aaudhootaa ||
There were ten regal incarnations of Vishnu; and then there was Shiva, the renunciate.
ਤਿਨੑ ਭੀ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਤੇਰਾ ਲਾਇ ਥਕੇ ਬਿਭੂਤਾ ॥੩॥
tin(h) bhee a(n)t na paio teraa lai thake bibhootaa ||3||
He did not find Your limits either, although he grew weary of smearing his body with ashes. ||3||
ਸਹਜ ਸੂਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਮ ਰਸ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤੀ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
sahaj sookh aana(n)dh naam ras har sa(n)tee ma(n)gal gaiaa ||
Peace, poise and bliss are found in the subtle essence of the Naam. The Lord's Saints sing the songs of joy.
ਸਫਲ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥੪੯॥
safal dharasan bheTio gur naanak taa man tan har har dhiaaiaa ||4||2||49||
I have obtained the Fruitful Vision of Guru Nanak's Darshan, and with my mind and body I meditate on the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||2||49||
ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Soohee, Fifth Mehla:
ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਪਾਖੰਡ ਜੋ ਦੀਸਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਜਮੁ ਜਾਗਾਤੀ ਲੂਟੈ ॥
karam dharam paakha(n)dd jo dheeseh tin jam jaagaatee looTai ||
The religious rites, rituals and hypocrisies which are seen, are plundered by the Messenger of Death, the ultimate tax collector.
ਨਿਰਬਾਣ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਕਰਤੇ ਕਾ ਨਿਮਖ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਜਿਤੁ ਛੂਟੈ ॥੧॥
nirabaan keeratan gaavahu karate kaa nimakh simarat jit chhooTai ||1||
In the state of Nirvaanaa, sing the Kirtan of the Creator's Praises; contemplating Him in meditation, even for an instant, one is saved. ||1||
ਸੰਤਹੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਰੀਐ ॥
sa(n)tahu saagar paar utareeaai ||
O Saints, cross over the world-ocean.
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਬਚਨੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਸੰਤਨ ਕਾ ਸੋ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਤਰੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
je ko bachan kamaavai sa(n)tan kaa so gur parasaadhee tareeaai ||1|| rahaau ||
One who practices the Teachings of the Saints, by Guru's Grace, is carried across. ||1||Pause||
ਕੋਟਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਮਜਨ ਇਸਨਾਨਾ ਇਸੁ ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਭਰੀਜੈ ॥
koT teerath majan isanaanaa is kal meh mail bhareejai ||
Millions of cleansing baths at sacred shrines of pilgrimage only fill the mortal with filth in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੨॥
saadhasa(n)g jo har gun gaavai so niramal kar leejai ||2||
One who sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, becomes spotlessly pure. ||2||
ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਭਿ ਸਾਸਤ ਇਨੑ ਪੜਿਆ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
bedh kateb simirat sabh saasat in(h) paRiaa mukat na hoiee ||
One may read all the books of the Vedas, the Bible, the Simritees and the Shaastras, but they will not bring liberation.
ਏਕੁ ਅਖਰੁ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਪੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥
ek akhar jo gurmukh jaapai tis kee niramal soiee ||3||
One who, as Gurmukh, chants the One Word, acquires a spotlessly pure reputation. ||3||
ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਸੂਦ ਵੈਸ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਚਹੁ ਵਰਨਾ ਕਉ ਸਾਝਾ ॥
khatree braahaman soodh vais upadhes chahu varanaa kau saajhaa ||
The four castes - the Kh'shaatriyas, Brahmins, Soodras and Vaishyas - are equal in respect to the teachings.
