ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਭਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਮੁ ਨਹੀ ਆਵੈ ਨੇਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tere sevak kau bhau kichh naahee jam nahee aavai nere ||1|| rahaau ||
Your servant is not afraid of anything; the Messenger of Death cannot even approach him. ||1||Pause||
ਜੋ ਤੇਰੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਿਨੑ ਕਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਨਾਸਾ ॥
jo terai ra(n)g raate suaamee tin(h) kaa janam maran dhukh naasaa ||
Those who are attuned to Your Love, O my Lord and Master, are released from the pains of birth and death.
ਤੇਰੀ ਬਖਸ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਕੋਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਦਿਲਾਸਾ ॥੨॥
teree bakhas na meTai koiee satigur kaa dhilaasaa ||2||
No one can erase Your Blessings; the True Guru has given me this assurance. ||2||
ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਨਿ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਆਰਾਧਹਿ ॥
naam dhiaain sukh fal pain aaTh pahar aaraadheh ||
Those who meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, obtain the fruits of peace. Twenty-four hours a day, they worship and adore You.
ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਭਰਵਾਸੈ ਪੰਚ ਦੁਸਟ ਲੈ ਸਾਧਹਿ ॥੩॥
teree saran terai bharavaasai pa(n)ch dhusaT lai saadheh ||3||
In Your Sanctuary, with Your Support, they subdue the five villains. ||3||
ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
giaan dhiaan kichh karam na jaanaa saar na jaanaa teree ||
I know nothing about wisdom, meditation and good deeds; I know nothing about Your excellence.
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਵਡਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਕਲ ਰਾਖੀ ਮੇਰੀ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੫੭॥
sabh te vaddaa satigur naanak jin kal raakhee meree ||4||10||57||
Guru Nanak is the greatest of all; He saved my honor in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga. ||4||10||57||
ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
soohee mahalaa panjavaa ||
Soohee, Fifth Mehla:
ਸਗਲ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣੀ ਆਇਆ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ ॥
sagal tiaag gur saranee aaiaa raakhahu raakhanahaare ||
Renouncing everything, I have come to the Guru's Sanctuary; save me, O my Savior Lord!
ਜਿਤੁ ਤੂ ਲਾਵਹਿ ਤਿਤੁ ਹਮ ਲਾਗਹ ਕਿਆ ਏਹਿ ਜੰਤ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
jit too laaveh tit ham laageh kiaa eh ja(n)t vichaare ||1||
Whatever You link me to, to that I am linked; what can this poor creature do? ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਜੀ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
mere raam jee too(n) prabh a(n)tarajaamee ||
O my Dear Lord God, You are the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਨਿਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirapaa gurdhev dhiaalaa gun gaavaa nit suaamee ||1|| rahaau ||
Be Merciful to me, O Divine, Compassionate Guru, that I may constantly sing the Glorious Praises of my Lord and Master. ||1||Pause||
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਭਉ ਤਰੀਐ ॥
aaTh pahar prabh apanaa dhiaaieeaai gur prasaadh bhau tareeaai ||
Twenty-four hours a day, I meditate on my God; by Guru's Grace, I cross over the terrifying world-ocean.
ਆਪੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਹੋਈਐ ਸਭ ਰੇਣਾ ਜੀਵਤਿਆ ਇਉ ਮਰੀਐ ॥੨॥
aap tiaag hoieeaai sabh renaa jeevatiaa iau mareeaai ||2||
Renouncing self-conceit, I have become the dust of all men's feet; in this way, I die, while I am still alive. ||2||
ਸਫਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਜਗ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਉ ਜਾਪੇ ॥
safal janam tis kaa jag bheetar saadhasa(n)g naau jaape ||
How fruitful is the life of that being in this world, who chants the Name in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਜਿਸੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੇ ॥੩॥
sagal manorath tis ke pooran jis dhiaa kare prabh aape ||3||
All desires are fulfilled, for the one who is blessed with God's Kindness and Mercy. ||3||
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
dheen dhiaal kirapaal prabh suaamee teree saran dhiaalaa ||
O Merciful to the meek, Kind and Compassionate Lord God, I seek Your Sanctuary.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧ ਰਵਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੫੮॥
kar kirapaa apanaa naam dheejai naanak saadh ravaalaa ||4||11||58||
Take pity upon me, and bless me with Your Name. Nanak is the dust of the feet of the Holy. ||4||11||58||
ਰਾਗੁ ਸੂਹੀ ਅਸਟਪਦੀਆ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਘਰੁ ੧

Raag Soohee, Ashtapadee, First Mehla, First House:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaadh ||
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਸਭਿ ਅਵਗਣ ਮੈ ਗੁਣੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਈ ॥
sabh avagan mai gun nahee koiee ||
I am totally without virtue; I have no virtue at all.
ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਕੰਤ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥
kiau kar ka(n)t milaavaa hoiee ||1||
How can I meet my Husband Lord? ||1||
ਨਾ ਮੈ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਬੰਕੇ ਨੈਣਾ ॥
naa mai roop na ba(n)ke nainaa ||
I have no beauty, no enticing eyes.
ਨਾ ਕੁਲ ਢੰਗੁ ਨ ਮੀਠੇ ਬੈਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naa kul dda(n)g na meeThe bainaa ||1|| rahaau ||
I do not have a noble family, good manners or a sweet voice. ||1||Pause||
ਸਹਜਿ ਸੀਗਾਰ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਕਰਿ ਆਵੈ ॥
sahaj seegaar kaaman kar aavai ||
The soul-bride adorns herself with peace and poise.
ਤਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਜਾ ਕੰਤੈ ਭਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
taa sohaagan jaa ka(n)tai bhaavai ||2||
But she is a happy soul-bride, only if her Husband Lord is pleased with her. ||2||
ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਰੇਖਿਆ ਕਾਈ ॥
naa tis roop na rekhiaa kaiee ||
He has no form or feature;
ਅੰਤਿ ਨ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥
a(n)t na saahib simariaa jaiee ||3||
at the very last instant, he cannot suddenly be contemplated. ||3||
ਸੁਰਤਿ ਮਤਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥
surat mat naahee chaturaiee ||
I have no understanding, intellect or cleverness.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਪਾਈ ॥੪॥
kar kirapaa prabh laavahu paiee ||4||
Have Mercy upon me, God, and attach me to Your Feet. ||4||
ਖਰੀ ਸਿਆਣੀ ਕੰਤ ਨ ਭਾਣੀ ॥
kharee siaanee ka(n)t na bhaanee ||
She may be very clever, but this does not please her Husband Lord.
ਮਾਇਆ ਲਾਗੀ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਣੀ ॥੫॥
maiaa laagee bharam bhulaanee ||5||
Attached to Maya, she is deluded by doubt. ||5||
ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਈ ਤਾ ਕੰਤ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
haumai jaiee taa ka(n)t samaiee ||
But if she gets rid of her ego, then she merges in her Husband Lord.
ਤਉ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੬॥
tau kaaman piaare nav nidh paiee ||6||
Only then can the soul-bride obtain the nine treasures of her Beloved. ||6||
ਅਨਿਕ ਜਨਮ ਬਿਛੁਰਤ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
anik janam bichhurat dhukh paiaa ||
Separated from You for countless incarnations, I have suffered in pain.
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਾਇਆ ॥੭॥
kar geh leh preetam prabh raiaa ||7||
Please take my hand, O my Beloved Sovereign Lord God. ||7||
ਭਣਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਹੁ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਹੋਸੀ ॥
bhanat naanak sahu hai bhee hosee ||
Prays Nanak, the Lord is, and shall always be.
ਜੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਤੈ ਰਾਵੇਸੀ ॥੮॥੧॥
jai bhaavai piaaraa tai raavesee ||8||1||
She alone is ravished and enjoyed, with whom the Beloved Lord is pleased. ||8||1||
