ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਮੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਖਣ ਕਾ ਚਾਉ ॥
satigur saagar gun naam kaa mai tis dhekhan kaa chaau ||
The True Guru is the Ocean of Virtue of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. I have such a yearning to see Him!
ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੜੀ ਨ ਜੀਵਊ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੇਖੇ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੬॥
hau tis bin ghaRee na jeevuoo bin dhekhe mar jaau ||6||
Without Him, I cannot live, even for an instant. If I do not see Him, I die. ||6||
ਜਿਉ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਵਿਣੁ ਪਾਣੀਐ ਰਹੈ ਨ ਕਿਤੈ ਉਪਾਇ ॥
jiau machhulee vin paaneeaai rahai na kitai upai ||
As the fish cannot survive at all without water,
ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੰਤੁ ਨ ਜੀਵਈ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੭॥
tiau har bin sa(n)t na jeeviee bin har naamai mar jai ||7||
the Saint cannot live without the Lord. Without the Lord's Name, he dies. ||7||
ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਤੀ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਕਿਉ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਜੀਵਾ ਮਾਉ ॥
mai satigur setee pirahaRee kiau gur bin jeevaa maau ||
I am so much in love with my True Guru! How could I even live without the Guru, O my mother?
ਮੈ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਆਧਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹਾਉ ॥੮॥
mai gurbaanee aadhaar hai gurbaanee laag rahaau ||8||
I have the Support of the Word of the Guru's Bani. Attached to Gurbani, I survive. ||8||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤੰਨੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਦੇਵੈ ਮਾਇ ॥
har har naam rata(n)n hai gur tuThaa dhevai mai ||
The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is a jewel; by the Pleasure of His Will, the Guru has given it, O my mother.
ਮੈ ਧਰ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਾ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੯॥
mai dhar sache naam kee har naam rahaa liv lai ||9||
The True Name is my only Support. I remain lovingly absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||9||
ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਦੇਇ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇ ॥
gur giaan padhaarath naam hai har naamo dhei dhiraRai ||
The wisdom of the Guru is the treasure of the Naam. The Guru implants and enshrines the Lord's Name.
ਜਿਸੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਸੋ ਲਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੈ ਆਇ ॥੧੦॥
jis paraapat so lahai gur charanee laagai aai ||10||
He alone receives it, he alone gets it, who comes and falls at the Guru's Feet. ||10||
ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਆਖੈ ਆਇ ॥
akath kahaanee prem kee ko preetam aakhai aai ||
If only someone would come and tell me the Unspoken Speech of the Love of my Beloved.
ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਵਾ ਮਨੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਿਵਿ ਨਿਵਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਪਾਇ ॥੧੧॥
tis dhevaa man aapanaa niv niv laagaa pai ||11||
I would dedicate my mind to him; I would bow down in humble respect, and fall at his feet. ||11||
ਸਜਣੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਏਕੁ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ॥
sajan meraa ek too(n) karataa purakh sujaan ||
You are my only Friend, O my All-knowing, All-powerful Creator Lord.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੀਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਮੈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਤਾਣੁ ॥੧੨॥
satigur meet milaiaa mai sadhaa sadhaa teraa taan ||12||
You have brought me to meet with my True Guru. Forever and ever, You are my only strength. ||12||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਾ ਆਵੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
satigur meraa sadhaa sadhaa naa aavai na jai ||
My True Guru, forever and ever, does not come and go.
ਓਹੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧੩॥
oh abinaasee purakh hai sabh meh rahiaa samai ||13||
He is the Imperishable Creator Lord; He is permeating and pervading among all. ||13||
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਸਾਬਤੁ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
raam naam dhan sa(n)chiaa saabat poo(n)jee raas ||
I have gathered in the wealth of the Lord's Name. My facilities and faculties are intact, safe and sound.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਗਹ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥੧੪॥੧॥੨॥੧੧॥
naanak dharageh ma(n)niaa gur poore saabaas ||14||1||2||11||
O Nanak, I am approved and respected in the Court of the Lord; the Perfect Guru has blessed me! ||14||1||2||11||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਉਰਝਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਾ ॥
aurajh rahio bikhiaa kai sa(n)gaa ||
He is entangled in sinful associations;
ਮਨਹਿ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਅਨਿਕ ਤਰੰਗਾ ॥੧॥
maneh biaapat anik tara(n)gaa ||1||
his mind is troubled by so very many waves. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ॥ ਕਤ ਪਾਈਐ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mere man agam agochar || kat paieeaai pooran paramesar ||1|| rahaau ||
O my mind, how can the Unapproachable and Incomprehensible Lord be found? He is the Perfect Transcendent Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਮੋਹ ਮਗਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬਿਆਪੇ ॥
moh magan meh rahiaa biaape ||
He remains entangled in the intoxication of worldly love.
ਅਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਕਬਹੂ ਨਹੀ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੇ ॥੨॥
at tirasanaa kabahoo nahee dhraape ||2||
His excessive thirst is never quenched. ||2||
ਬਸਇ ਕਰੋਧੁ ਸਰੀਰਿ ਚੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
basi karodh sareer cha(n)ddaaraa ||
Anger is the outcaste which hides within his body;
ਅਗਿਆਨਿ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਮਹਾ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
agiaan na soojhai mahaa gubaaraa ||3||
he is in the utter darkness of ignorance, and he does not understand. ||3||
ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਜਰੇ ਕਿਵਾਰਾ ॥
bhramat biaapat jare kivaaraa ||
Afflicted by doubt, the shutters are shut tight;
ਜਾਣੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
jaan na paieeaai prabh dharabaaraa ||4||
he cannot go to God's Court. ||4||
ਆਸਾ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਬੰਧਿ ਪਰਾਨਾ ॥
aasaa a(n)dhesaa ba(n)dh paraanaa ||
The mortal is bound and gagged by hope and fear;
ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਫਿਰਤ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ॥੫॥
mahal na paavai firat bigaanaa ||5||
he cannot find the Mansion of the Lord's Presence, and so he wanders around like a stranger. ||5||
ਸਗਲ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨਾ ॥
sagal biaadh kai vas kar dheenaa ||
He falls under the power of all negative influences;
ਫਿਰਤ ਪਿਆਸ ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੀਨਾ ॥੬॥
firat piaas jiau jal bin meenaa ||6||
he wanders around thirsty like a fish out of water. ||6||
ਕਛੂ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਉਕਤਿ ਨ ਮੋਰੀ ॥
kachhoo siaanap ukat na moree ||
I have no clever tricks or techniques;
ਏਕ ਆਸ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੋਰੀ ॥੭॥
ek aas Thaakur prabh toree ||7||
You are my only hope, O my Lord God Master. ||7||
ਕਰਉ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਪਾਸੇ ॥
karau benatee sa(n)tan paase ||
Nanak offers this prayer to the Saints
ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਰਦਾਸੇ ॥੮॥
mel laih naanak aradhaase ||8||
- please let me merge and blend with You. ||8||
ਭਇਓ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
bhio kirapaal saadhasa(n)g paiaa ||
God has shown Mercy, and I have found the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧॥
naanak tirapate pooraa paiaa ||1|| rahaau dhoojaa ||1||
Nanak is satisfied, finding the Perfect Lord. ||1||Second Pause||1||
