ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਦਾਸੁ ਤੁਮੑ ਬਾਣੀ ਜਨ ਆਖੀ ॥
sun sun jeevai dhaas tum(h) baanee jan aakhee ||
Your slave lives by hearing, hearing the Word of Your Bani, chanted by Your humble servant.
ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਈ ਸਭ ਲੋਅ ਮਹਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਰਾਖੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
pragaT bhiee sabh loa meh sevak kee raakhee ||1|| rahaau ||
The Guru is revealed in all the worlds; He saves the honor of His servant. ||1||Pause||
ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰ ਤੇ ਕਾਢਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਜਲਨਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
agan saagar te kaaddiaa prabh jalan bujhaiee ||
God has pulled me out of the ocean of fire, and quenched my burning thirst.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਲੁ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਭਏ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੨॥
a(n)mirat naam jal sa(n)chiaa gur bhe sahaiee ||2||
The Guru has sprinkled the Ambrosial Water of the Naam, the Name of the Lord; He has become my Helper. ||2||
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਸੁਖ ਕਾ ਥਾਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
janam maran dhukh kaaTiaa sukh kaa thaan paiaa ||
The pains of birth and death are removed, and I have obtained a resting place of peace.
ਕਾਟੀ ਸਿਲਕ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਕੀ ਅਪਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
kaaTee silak bhram moh kee apane prabh bhaiaa ||3||
The noose of doubt and emotional attachment has been snapped; I have become pleasing to my God. ||3||
ਮਤ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਕਛੁ ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਹਾਥਿ ॥
mat koiee jaanahu avar kachh sabh prabh kai haath ||
Let no one think that there is any other at all; everything is in the Hands of God.
ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਏ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਸਾਥਿ ॥੪॥੨੨॥੫੨॥
sarab sookh naanak paae sa(n)g sa(n)tan saath ||4||22||52||
Nanak has found total peace, in the Society of the Saints. ||4||22||52||
ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
bilaaval mahalaa panjavaa ||
Bilaaval, Fifth Mehla:
ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੇ ਆਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਹੋਆ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥
ba(n)dhan kaaTe aap prabh hoaa kirapaal ||
My bonds have been snapped; God Himself has become compassionate.
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੧॥
dheen dhiaal prabh paarabraham taa kee nadhar nihaal ||1||
The Supreme Lord God is Merciful to the meek; by His Glance of Grace, I am in ecstasy. ||1||
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਰੋਗੁ ॥
gur poorai kirapaa karee kaaTiaa dhukh rog ||
The Perfect Guru has shown mercy to me, and eradicated my pains and illnesses.
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਸੁਖੀ ਭਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਿਆਵਨ ਜੋਗੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man tan seetal sukhee bhiaa prabh dhiaavan jog ||1|| rahaau ||
My mind and body have been cooled and soothed, meditating on God, most worthy of meditation. ||1||Pause||
ਅਉਖਧੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ॥
aaukhadh har kaa naam hai jit rog na viaapai ||
The Name of the Lord is the medicine to cure all disease; with it, no disease afflicts me.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਹਿਤੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ॥੨॥
saadhasa(n)g man tan hitai fir dhookh na jaapai ||2||
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the mind and body are tinged with the Lord's Love, and I do not suffer pain any longer. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪੀਐ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
har har har har jaapeeaai a(n)tar liv laiee ||
I chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har, lovingly centering my inner being on Him.
ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਸੁਧੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੩॥
kilavikh utareh sudh hoi saadhoo saranaiee ||3||
Sinful mistakes are erased and I am sanctified, in the Sanctuary of the Holy Saints. ||3||
ਸੁਨਤ ਜਪਤ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਜਸੁ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਦੂਰਿ ਬਲਾਈ ॥
sunat japat har naam jas taa kee dhoor balaiee ||
Misfortune is kept far away from those who hear and chant the Praises of the Lord's Name.
ਮਹਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਥੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ॥੪॥੨੩॥੫੩॥
mahaa ma(n)tr naanak kathai har ke gun gaiee ||4||23||53||
Nanak chants the Mahaa Mantra, the Great Mantra, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||4||23||53||
ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
bilaaval mahalaa panjavaa ||
Bilaaval, Fifth Mehla:
ਭੈ ਤੇ ਉਪਜੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਸਾਂਤਿ ॥
bhai te upajai bhagat prabh a(n)tar hoi saa(n)t ||
From the Fear of God, devotion wells up, and deep within, there is peace.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭ੍ਰਾਂਤਿ ॥੧॥
naam japat govi(n)dh kaa binasai bhram bhraa(n)t ||1||
Chanting the Name of the Lord of the Universe, doubt and delusions are dispelled. ||1||
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਸੁਖਿ ਪਰਵੇਸੁ ॥
gur pooraa jis bheTiaa taa kai sukh paraves ||
One who meets with the Perfect Guru, is blessed with peace.
ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਤਿਆਗੀਐ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man kee mat tiaageeaai suneeaai upadhes ||1|| rahaau ||
So renounce the intellectual cleverness of your mind, and listen to the Teachings. ||1||Pause||
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਿਮਰੀਐ ਸੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥
simarat simarat simareeaai so purakh dhaataar ||
Meditate, meditate, meditate in remembrance on the Primal Lord, the Great Giver.
ਮਨ ਤੇ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਸੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
man te kabahu na veesarai so purakh apaar ||2||
May I never forget that Primal, Infinite Lord from my mind. ||2||
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਗਾ ਅਚਰਜ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
charan kamal siau ra(n)g lagaa acharaj gurdhev ||
I have enshrined love for the Lotus Feet of the Wondrous Divine Guru.
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਸੇਵ ॥੩॥
jaa kau kirapaa karahu prabh taa kau laavahu sev ||3||
One who is blessed by Your Mercy, God, is committed to Your service. ||3||
ਨਿਧਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਆਨੰਦ ॥
nidh nidhaan a(n)mrit peeaa man tan aana(n)dh ||
I drink in the Ambrosial Nectar, the treasure of wealth, and my mind and body are in bliss.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ॥੪॥੨੪॥੫੪॥
naanak kabahu na veesarai prabh paramaana(n)dh ||4||24||54||
Nanak never forgets God, the Lord of supreme bliss. ||4||24||54||
ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Bilaaval, Fifth Mehla:
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਬੁਝੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਗਈ ਨਾਠੇ ਭੈ ਭਰਮਾ ॥
tirasan bujhee mamataa giee naaThe bhai bharamaa ||
Desire is stilled, and egotism is gone; fear and doubt have run away.
ਥਿਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਆਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੇ ਧਰਮਾ ॥੧॥
thit paiee aanadh bhiaa gur keene dharamaa ||1||
I have found stability, and I am in ecstasy; the Guru has blessed me with Dharmic faith. ||1||
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਬਿਨਸੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੀਰ ॥
gur pooraa aaraadhiaa binasee meree peer ||
Worshipping the Perfect Guru in adoration, my anguish is eradicated.
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਭਇਆ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਬੀਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tan man sabh seetal bhiaa paiaa sukh beer ||1|| rahaau ||
My body and mind are totally cooled and soothed; I have found peace, O my brother. ||1||Pause||
ਸੋਵਤ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜਾਗਿਆ ਪੇਖਿਆ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੁ ॥
sovat har jap jaagiaa pekhiaa bisamaadh ||
I have awakened from sleep, chanting the Name of the Lord; gazing upon Him, I am filled with wonder.
ਪੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸਿਆ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅਚਰਜ ਸੁਆਦੁ ॥੨॥
pee a(n)mrit tirapataasiaa taa kaa acharaj suaadh ||2||
Drinking in the Ambrosial Nectar, I am satisfied. How wondrous is its taste! ||2||
ਆਪਿ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਸੰਗੀ ਤਰੇ ਕੁਲ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਉਧਾਰੇ ॥
aap mukat sa(n)gee tare kul kuTa(n)b udhaare ||
I myself am liberated, and my companions swim across; my family and ancestors are also saved.
ਸਫਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
safal sevaa gurdhev kee niramal dharabaare ||3||
Service to the Divine Guru is fruitful; it has made me pure in the Court of the Lord. ||3||
ਨੀਚੁ ਅਨਾਥੁ ਅਜਾਨੁ ਮੈ ਨਿਰਗੁਨੁ ਗੁਣਹੀਨੁ ॥
neech anaath ajaan mai niragun gunaheen ||
I am lowly, without a master, ignorant, worthless and without virtue.
