ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਨ ਆਵਹਿ ਅੰਧ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਸੋਇ ਰਹਿਓ ਮਦ ਮਾਵਤ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
dhirasaT na aaveh a(n)dh agiaanee soi rahio madh maavat he ||3||
You do not see them, you blind and ignorant fool; intoxicated with ego, you just keep sleeping. ||3||
ਜਾਲੁ ਪਸਾਰਿ ਚੋਗ ਬਿਸਥਾਰੀ ਪੰਖੀ ਜਿਉ ਫਾਹਾਵਤ ਹੇ ॥
jaal pasaar chog bisathaaree pa(n)khee jiau faahaavat he ||
The net has been spread out, and the bait has been scattered; like a bird, you are being trapped.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਨ ਕਉ ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਧਿਆਵਤ ਹੇ ॥੪॥੨॥੮੮॥
kahu naanak ba(n)dhan kaaTan kau mai satigur purakh dhiaavat he ||4||2||88||
Says Nanak, my bonds have been broken; I meditate on the True Guru, the Primal Being. ||4||2||88||

Bilaaval, Fifth Mehla:
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਪਾਰ ਅਮੋਲੀ ॥
har har naam apaar amolee ||
The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is infinite and priceless.
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਪਿਆਰੋ ਮਨਹਿ ਅਧਾਰੋ ਚੀਤਿ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਜੈਸੇ ਪਾਨ ਤੰਬੋਲੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
praan piaaro maneh adhaaro cheet chitavau jaise paan ta(n)bolee ||1|| rahaau ||
It is the Beloved of my breath of life, and the Support of my mind; I remember it, as the betel leaf chewer remembers the betel leaf. ||1||Pause||
ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਓ ਗੁਰਹਿ ਬਤਾਇਓ ਰੰਗਿ ਰੰਗੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਤਨ ਕੀ ਚੋਲੀ ॥
sahaj samaio gureh bataio ra(n)g ra(n)gee mere tan kee cholee ||
I have been absorbed in celestial bliss, following the Guru's Teachings; my body-garment is imbued with the Lord's Love.
ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਗੋ ਜਉ ਵਡਭਾਗੋ ਸੁਹਾਗੁ ਹਮਾਰੋ ਕਤਹੁ ਨ ਡੋਲੀ ॥੧॥
pria mukh laago jau vaddabhaago suhaag hamaaro katahu na ddolee ||1||
I come face to face with my Beloved, by great good fortune; my Husband Lord never wavers. ||1||
ਰੂਪ ਨ ਧੂਪ ਨ ਗੰਧ ਨ ਦੀਪਾ ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਅੰਗ ਅੰਗ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਉਲੀ ॥
roop na dhoop na ga(n)dh na dheepaa ot pot a(n)g a(n)g sa(n)g maulee ||
I do not need any image, or incense, or perfume, or lamps; through and through, He is blossoming forth, with me, life and limb.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਰਵੀ ਸੁਹਾਗਨਿ ਅਤਿ ਨੀਕੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਬਨੀ ਖਟੋਲੀ ॥੨॥੩॥੮੯॥
kahu naanak pria ravee suhaagan at neekee meree banee khaTolee ||2||3||89||
Says Nanak, my Husband Lord has ravished and enjoyed His soul-bride; my bed has become very beautiful and sublime. ||2||3||89||

ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਮਈ ॥
gobi(n)dh gobi(n)dh gobi(n)dh miee ||
Chanting the Name of the Lord of the Universe, Gobind, Gobind, Gobind, we become like Him.
ਜਬ ਤੇ ਭੇਟੇ ਸਾਧ ਦਇਆਰਾ ਤਬ ਤੇ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਭਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jab te bheTe saadh dhiaaraa tab te dhuramat dhoor bhiee ||1|| rahaau ||
Since I met the compassionate, Holy Saints, my evil-mindedness has been driven far away. ||1||Pause||
ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਸੰਪੂਰਨ ਸੀਤਲ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਦਇਆਲ ਦਈ ॥
pooran poor rahio sa(n)pooran seetal saa(n)t dhiaal dhiee ||
The Perfect Lord is perfectly pervading everywhere. He is cool and calm, peaceful and compassionate.
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਾ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਗਲ ਖਈ ॥੧॥
kaam karodh tirasanaa aha(n)kaaraa tan te hoe sagal khiee ||1||
Sexual desire, anger and egotistical desires have all been eliminated from my body. ||1||
ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਦਇਆ ਧਰਮੁ ਸੁਚਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਤੇ ਇਹੁ ਮੰਤੁ ਲਈ ॥
sat sa(n)tokh dhiaa dharam such sa(n)tan te ih ma(n)t liee ||
Truth, contentment, compassion, Dharmic faith and purity - I have received these from the Teachings of the Saints.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਮਨਹੁ ਪਛਾਨਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਸਗਲੀ ਸੋਝ ਪਈ ॥੨॥੪॥੯੦॥
kahu naanak jin manahu pachhaaniaa tin kau sagalee sojh piee ||2||4||90||
Says Nanak, one who realizes this in his mind, achieves total understanding. ||2||4||90||

ਕਿਆ ਹਮ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਬੇਚਾਰੇ ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਹ ਏਕ ਰੋਮਾਈ ॥
kiaa ham jeea ja(n)t bechaare baran na saakeh ek romaiee ||
What am I? Just a poor living being. I cannot even describe one of Your hairs, O Lord.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਮਹੇਸ ਸਿਧ ਮੁਨਿ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਤੇਰੀ ਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
braham mahes sidh mun i(n)dhraa bea(n)t Thaakur teree gat nahee paiee ||1||
Even Brahma, Shiva, the Siddhas and the silent sages do not know Your State, O Infinite Lord and Master. ||1||
ਕਿਆ ਕਥੀਐ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਥਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
kiaa katheeaai kichh kathan na jaiee ||
What can I say? I cannot say anything.
ਜਹ ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jeh jeh dhekhaa teh rahiaa samaiee ||1|| rahaau ||
Wherever I look, I see the Lord pervading. ||1||Pause||
ਜਹ ਮਹਾ ਭਇਆਨ ਦੂਖ ਜਮ ਸੁਨੀਐ ਤਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੂਹੈ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
jeh mahaa bhiaan dhookh jam suneeaai teh mere prabh toohai sahaiee ||
And there, where the most terrible tortures are heard to be inflicted by the Messenger of Death, You are my only help and support, O my God.
ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਗਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੨॥੫॥੯੧॥
saran pario har charan gahe prabh gur naanak kau boojh bujhaiee ||2||5||91||
I have sought His Sanctuary, and grasped hold of the Lord's Lotus Feet; God has helped Guru Nanak to understand this understanding. ||2||5||91||

ਅਗਮ ਰੂਪ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਕਰਤਾ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਵਿਤ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਜਪਾਈਐ ॥
agam roop abinaasee karataa patit pavit ik nimakh japaieeaai ||
O Inaccessible, Beautiful, Imperishable Creator Lord, Purifier of sinners, let me meditate on You, even for an instant.
ਅਚਰਜੁ ਸੁਨਿਓ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਭੇਟੁਲੇ ਸੰਤ ਚਰਨ ਚਰਨ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਈਐ ॥੧॥
acharaj sunio paraapat bheTule sa(n)t charan charan man laieeaai ||1||
O Wondrous Lord, I have heard that You are found by meeting the Saints, and focusing the mind on their feet, their holy feet. ||1||
ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧੀਐ ਕਿਤੁ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
kit bidheeaai kit sa(n)jam paieeaai ||
In what way, and by what discipline, is He obtained?
ਕਹੁ ਸੁਰਜਨ ਕਿਤੁ ਜੁਗਤੀ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kahu surajan kit jugatee dhiaaieeaai ||1|| rahaau ||
Tell me, O good man, by what means can we meditate on Him? ||1||Pause||
ਜੋ ਮਾਨੁਖੁ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਓਹੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਲਈ ਲਈ ਫੁਨਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
jo maanukh maanukh kee sevaa oh tis kee liee liee fun jaieeaai ||
If one human being serves another human being, the one served stands by him.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਨਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਮੋਹਿ ਟੇਕ ਤੇਰੋ ਇਕ ਨਾਈਐ ॥੨॥੬॥੯੨॥
naanak saran saran sukh saagar moh Tek tero ik naieeaai ||2||6||92||
Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary and Protection, O Lord, ocean of peace; He takes the Support of Your Name alone. ||2||6||92||

ਸੰਤ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੰਤ ਟਹਲ ਕਰੀ ॥
sa(n)t saran sa(n)t Tahal karee ||
I seek the Sanctuary of the Saints, and I serve the Saints.
ਧੰਧੁ ਬੰਧੁ ਅਰੁ ਸਗਲ ਜੰਜਾਰੋ ਅਵਰ ਕਾਜ ਤੇ ਛੂਟਿ ਪਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dha(n)dh ba(n)dh ar sagal ja(n)jaaro avar kaaj te chhooT paree ||1|| rahaau ||
I am rid of all worldly concerns, bonds, entanglements and other affairs. ||1||Pause||
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਅਰੁ ਘਨੋ ਅਨੰਦਾ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਓ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰੀ ॥
sookh sahaj ar ghano ana(n)dhaa gur te paio naam haree ||
I have obtained peace, poise and great bliss from the Guru, through the Lord's Name.
