ਸੰਤਨ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰ ॥
sa(n)tan ke praan adhaar ||
They are the Support of the breath of life of the Saints.
ਊਚੇ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਅਪਾਰ ॥੩॥
uooche te uooch apaar ||3||
God is infinite, the highest of the high. ||3||
ਸੁ ਮਤਿ ਸਾਰੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰੀਜੈ ॥
s mat saar jit har simareejai ||
That mind is excellent and sublime, which meditates in remembrance on the Lord.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪੇ ਦੀਜੈ ॥
kar kirapaa jis aape dheejai ||
In His Mercy, the Lord Himself bestows it.
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
sookh sahaj aana(n)dh har naau ||
Peace, intuitive poise and bliss are found in the Lord's Name.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਉ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੩੮॥
naanak japiaa gur mil naau ||4||27||38||
Meeting with the Guru, Nanak chants the Name. ||4||27||38||
ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
raamakalee mahalaa panjavaa ||
Raamkalee, Fifth Mehla:
ਸਗਲ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਛਾਡਿ ॥
sagal siaanap chhaadd ||
Abandon all your clever tricks.
ਕਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਾਜਿ ॥
kar sevaa sevak saaj ||
Become His servant, and serve Him.
ਅਪਨਾ ਆਪੁ ਸਗਲ ਮਿਟਾਇ ॥
apanaa aap sagal miTai ||
Totally erase your self-conceit.
ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦੇ ਸੇਈ ਫਲ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥
man chi(n)dhe seiee fal pai ||1||
You shall obtain the fruits of your mind's desires. ||1||
ਹੋਹੁ ਸਾਵਧਾਨ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ॥
hoh saavadhaan apune gur siau ||
Be awake and aware with your Guru.
ਆਸਾ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aasaa manasaa pooran hovai paaveh sagal nidhaan gur siau ||1|| rahaau ||
Your hopes and desires shall be fulfilled, and you shall obtain all treasures from the Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
dhoojaa nahee jaanai koi ||
Let no one think that God and Guru are separate.
ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
satagur nira(n)jan soi ||
The True Guru is the Immaculate Lord.
ਮਾਨੁਖ ਕਾ ਕਰਿ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਜਾਨੁ ॥
maanukh kaa kar roop na jaan ||
Do not believe that He is a mere human being;
ਮਿਲੀ ਨਿਮਾਨੇ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੨॥
milee nimaane maan ||2||
He gives honor to the dishonored. ||2||
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਟੇਕ ਟਿਕਾਇ ॥
gur kee har Tek Tikai ||
Hold tight to the Support of the Guru, the Lord.
ਅਵਰ ਆਸਾ ਸਭ ਲਾਹਿ ॥
avar aasaa sabh laeh ||
Give up all other hopes.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਾਗੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥
har kaa naam maag nidhaan ||
Ask for the treasure of the Name of the Lord,
ਤਾ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੩॥
taa dharageh paaveh maan ||3||
and then you shall be honored in the Court of the Lord. ||3||
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਬਚਨੁ ਜਪਿ ਮੰਤੁ ॥
gur kaa bachan jap ma(n)t ||
Chant the Mantra of the Guru's Word.
ਏਹਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਾਰ ਤਤੁ ॥
ehaa bhagat saar tat ||
This is the essence of true devotional worship.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
satigur bhe dhiaal ||
When the True Guru becomes merciful,
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੪॥੨੮॥੩੯॥
naanak dhaas nihaal ||4||28||39||
slave Nanak is enraptured. ||4||28||39||
ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
raamakalee mahalaa panjavaa ||
Raamkalee, Fifth Mehla:
ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਭਲ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
hovai soiee bhal maan ||
Whatever happens, accept that as good.
ਆਪਨਾ ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
aapanaa taj abhimaan ||
Leave your egotistical pride behind.
ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ॥
dhin rain sadhaa gun gaau ||
Day and night, continually sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਪੂਰਨ ਏਹੀ ਸੁਆਉ ॥੧॥
pooran ehee suaau ||1||
This is the perfect purpose of human life. ||1||
ਆਨੰਦ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ॥
aana(n)dh kar sa(n)t har jap ||
Meditate on the Lord, O Saints, and be in bliss.
ਛਾਡਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਬਹੁ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਜਪਿ ਮੰਤੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
chhaadd siaanap bahu chaturaiee gur kaa jap ma(n)t niramal ||1|| rahaau ||
Renounce your cleverness and all your tricks. Chant the Immaculate Chant of the Guru's Mantra. ||1||Pause||
ਏਕ ਕੀ ਕਰਿ ਆਸ ਭੀਤਰਿ ॥
ek kee kar aas bheetar ||
Place the hopes of your mind in the One Lord.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ॥
niramal jap naam har har ||
Chant the Immaculate Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਿ ॥
gur ke charan namasakaar ||
Bow down to the Guru's Feet,
ਭਵਜਲੁ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
bhavajal utareh paar ||2||
and cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||2||
ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰ ਦਾਤਾਰ ॥
dhevanahaar dhaataar ||
The Lord God is the Great Giver.
ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰ ॥
a(n)t na paaraavaar ||
He has no end or limitation.
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
jaa kai ghar sarab nidhaan ||
All treasures are in His home.
ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰ ਨਿਦਾਨ ॥੩॥
raakhanahaar nidhaan ||3||
He will be your Saving Grace in the end. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਇਆ ਏਹੁ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
naanak paiaa eh nidhaan ||
Nanak has obtained this treasure,
ਹਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮ ॥
hare har niramal naam ||
the immaculate Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਜੋ ਜਪੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
jo japai tis kee gat hoi ||
Whoever chants it, is emancipated.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੨੯॥੪੦॥
naanak karam paraapat hoi ||4||29||40||
It is obtained only by His Grace. ||4||29||40||
ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
raamakalee mahalaa panjavaa ||
Raamkalee, Fifth Mehla:
ਦੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥
dhulabh dheh savaar ||
Make this invaluable human life fruitful.
ਜਾਹਿ ਨ ਦਰਗਹ ਹਾਰਿ ॥
jaeh na dharageh haar ||
You shall not be destroyed when you go to the Lord's Court.
ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਹੋਇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
halat palat tudh hoi vaddiaaiee ||
In this world and the next, you shall obtain honor and glory.
ਅੰਤ ਕੀ ਬੇਲਾ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਈ ॥੧॥
a(n)t kee belaa le chhaddaiee ||1||
At the very last moment, He will save you. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ॥
raam ke gun gaau ||
Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਹੋਹਿ ਦੋਵੈ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ਅਚਰਜ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਧਿਆਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
halat palat hoh dhovai suhele acharaj purakh dhiaau ||1|| rahaau ||
In both this world and the next, you shall be embellished with beauty, meditating on the wondrous Primal Lord God. ||1||Pause||
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪੁ ॥
uooThat baiThat har jaap ||
While standing up and sitting down, meditate on the Lord,
ਬਿਨਸੈ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ ॥
binasai sagal sa(n)taap ||
and all your troubles shall depart.
ਬੈਰੀ ਸਭਿ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਮੀਤ ॥
bairee sabh hoveh meet ||
All your enemies will become friends.
ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਚੀਤ ॥੨॥
niramal teraa hovai cheet ||2||
Your consciousness shall be immaculate and pure. ||2||
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਤਮ ਇਹੁ ਕਰਮੁ ॥
sabh te uootam ih karam ||
This is the most exalted deed.
ਸਗਲ ਧਰਮ ਮਹਿ ਸ੍ਰੇਸਟ ਧਰਮੁ ॥
sagal dharam meh sresaT dharam ||
Of all faiths, this is the most sublime and excellent faith.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੋਇ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
har simaran teraa hoi udhaar ||
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, you shall be saved.
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਉਤਰੈ ਭਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
janam janam kaa utarai bhaar ||3||
You shall be rid of the burden of countless incarnations. ||3||
ਪੂਰਨ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੋਵੈ ਆਸ ॥
pooran teree hovai aas ||
Your hopes shall be fulfilled,
ਜਮ ਕੀ ਕਟੀਐ ਤੇਰੀ ਫਾਸ ॥
jam kee kaTeeaai teree faas ||
and the noose of the Messenger of Death will be cut away.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਸੁਨੀਜੈ ॥
gur kaa upadhes suneejai ||
So listen to the Guru's Teachings.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮੀਜੈ ॥੪॥੩੦॥੪੧॥
naanak sukh sahaj sameejai ||4||30||41||
O Nanak, you shall be absorbed in celestial peace. ||4||30||41||
