Third Mehla:
ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੀ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
sabadh ratee sohaaganee satigur kai bhai piaar ||
The happy soul-bride is attuned to the Word of the Shabad; she is in love with the True Guru.
ਸਦਾ ਰਾਵੇ ਪਿਰੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਚੈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
sadhaa raave pir aapanaa sachai prem piaar ||
She continually enjoys and ravishes her Beloved, with true love and affection.
ਅਤਿ ਸੁਆਲਿਉ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਨਾਰਿ ॥
at suaaliau su(n)dharee sobhaava(n)tee naar ||
She is such a loveable, beautiful and noble woman.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਮੇਲੀ ਮੇਲਣਹਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
naanak naam sohaaganee melee melanahaar ||2||
O Nanak, through the Naam, the happy soul-bride unites with the Lord of Union. ||2||

Pauree:
ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਭ ਕਰਹਿ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਫਾਥੇ ਕਾਢਿਆ ॥
har teree sabh kareh usatat jin faathe kaaddiaa ||
Lord, everyone sings Your Praises. You have freed us from bondage.
ਹਰਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਭ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਪੈ ਤੇ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥
har tudhano kareh sabh namasakaar jin paapai te raakhiaa ||
Lord, everyone bows in reverence to You. You have saved us from our sinful ways.
ਹਰਿ ਨਿਮਾਣਿਆ ਤੂੰ ਮਾਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਡਾਢੀ ਹੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਡਾਢਿਆ ॥
har nimaaniaa too(n) maan har ddaaddee hoo(n) too(n) ddaaddiaa ||
Lord, You are the Honor of the dishonored. Lord, You are the Strongest of the strong.
ਹਰਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀਆ ਮਾਰਿ ਨਿਵਾਏ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂੜ ਸਾਧਿਆ ॥
har aha(n)kaareeaa maar nivaae manmukh mooR saadhiaa ||
The Lord beats down the egocentrics and corrects the foolish, self-willed manmukhs.
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਦੇਇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਗਰੀਬ ਅਨਾਥਿਆ ॥੧੭॥
har bhagataa dhei vaddiaaiee gareeb anaathiaa ||17||
The Lord bestows glorious greatness on His devotees, the poor, and the lost souls. ||17||
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੩ ॥

Shalok, Third Mehla:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਜੋ ਚਲੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵਡੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
satigur kai bhaanai jo chalai tis vaddiaaiee vaddee hoi ||
One who walks in harmony with the Will of the True Guru, obtains the greatest glory.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਤਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਮੇਟਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
har kaa naam utam man vasai meT na sakai koi ||
The Exalted Name of the Lord abides in his mind, and no one can take it away.
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
kirapaa kare jis aapanee tis karam paraapat hoi ||
That person, upon whom the Lord bestows His Grace, receives His Mercy.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਕਰਤੇ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
naanak kaaran karate vas hai gurmukh boojhai koi ||1||
O Nanak, creativity is under the control of the Creator; how rare are those who, as Gurmukh, realize this! ||1||

Third Mehla:
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਤਾਰ ॥
naanak har naam jinee aaraadhiaa anadhin har liv taar ||
O Nanak, those who worship and adore the Lord's Name night and day, vibrate the String of the Lord's Love.
ਮਾਇਆ ਬੰਦੀ ਖਸਮ ਕੀ ਤਿਨ ਅਗੈ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਕਾਰ ॥
maiaa ba(n)dhee khasam kee tin agai kamaavai kaar ||
Maya, the maid-servant of our Lord and Master, serves them.
ਪੂਰੈ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਛੋਡਿਆ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰ ॥
poorai pooraa kar chhoddiaa hukam savaaranahaar ||
The Perfect One has made them perfect; by the Hukam of His Command, they are embellished.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
gur parasaadhee jin bujhiaa tin paiaa mokh dhuaar ||
By Guru's Grace, they understand Him, and they find the gate of salvation.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਤਿਨ ਮਾਰੇ ਜਮ ਜੰਦਾਰੁ ॥
manmukh hukam na jaananee tin maare jam ja(n)dhaar ||
The self-willed manmukhs do not know the Lord's Command; they are beaten down by the Messenger of Death.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨੀ ਤਰਿਆ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
gurmukh jinee araadhiaa tinee tariaa bhaujal sa(n)saar ||
But the Gurmukhs, who worship and adore the Lord, cross over the terrifying world-ocean.
ਸਭਿ ਅਉਗਣ ਗੁਣੀ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
sabh aaugan gunee miTaiaa gur aape bakhasanahaar ||2||
All their demerits are erased, and replaced with merits. The Guru Himself is their Forgiver. ||2||

Pauree:
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਾ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣਦਾ ॥
har kee bhagataa parateet har sabh kichh jaanadhaa ||
The Lord's devotees have faith in Him. The Lord knows everything.
ਹਰਿ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਰਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਦਾ ॥
har jevadd naahee koiee jaan har dharam beechaaradhaa ||
No one is as great a Knower as the Lord; the Lord administers righteous justice.
ਕਾੜਾ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਕਿਉ ਕੀਜੈ ਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਧਰਮਿ ਮਾਰਦਾ ॥
kaaRaa a(n)dhesaa kiau keejai jaa naahee adharam maaradhaa ||
Why should we feel any burning anxiety, since the Lord does not punish without just cause?
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਨਿਆਉ ਪਾਪੀ ਨਰੁ ਹਾਰਦਾ ॥
sachaa saahib sach niaau paapee nar haaradhaa ||
True is the Master, and True is His Justice; only the sinners are defeated.
ਸਾਲਾਹਿਹੁ ਭਗਤਹੁ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਤਾਰਦਾ ॥੧੮॥
saalaahih bhagatahu kar joR har bhagat jan taaradhaa ||18||
O devotees, praise the Lord with your palms pressed together; the Lord saves His humble devotees. ||18||
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੩ ॥

Shalok, Third Mehla:
ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਖਾ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
aapane preetam mil rahaa a(n)tar rakhaa ur dhaar ||
Oh, if only I could meet my Beloved, and keep Him enshrined deep within my heart!
ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
saalaahee so prabh sadhaa sadhaa gur kai het piaar ||
I praise that God forever and ever, through love and affection for the Guru.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਸਾਈ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਨਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
naanak jis nadhar kare tis mel le saiee suhaagan naar ||1||
O Nanak, that one upon whom He bestows His Glance of Grace is united with Him; such a person is the true soul-bride of the Lord. ||1||

Third Mehla:
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
gur sevaa te har paieeaai jaa kau nadhar karei ||
Serving the Guru, the Lord is obtained, when He bestows His Glance of Grace.
ਮਾਣਸ ਤੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਭਏ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰੇ ॥
maanas te dhevate bhe dhiaaiaa naam hare ||
They are transformed from humans into angels, meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਰੇ ॥
haumai maar milaian gur kai sabadh tare ||
They conquer their egotism and merge with the Lord; they are saved through the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਅਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ॥੨॥
naanak sahaj samaian har aapanee kirapaa kare ||2||
O Nanak, they merge imperceptibly into the Lord, who has bestowed His Favor upon them. ||2||

Pauree:
ਹਰਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਾਇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵੇਖਾਲੀਅਨੁ ॥
har aapanee bhagat karai vaddiaaiee vekhaaleean ||
The Lord Himself inspires us to worship Him; He reveals His Glorious Greatness.
ਆਪਣੀ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵ ਘਾਲੀਅਨੁ ॥
aapanee aap kare parateet aape sev ghaaleean ||
He Himself inspires us to place our faith in Him. Thus He performs His Own Service.
