About
Gurdwara Chhevin Patshahi in Kurukshetra is the premier gurdwara of this sacred city, dedicated to Guru Hargobind, the sixth Sikh Guru, who visited Thanesar during the solar eclipse fair in 1638. The Guru's princely appearance and armed retinue drew many pilgrims, whose doubts were dispelled when they heard his discourse on the relationship between bhakti (devotion) and shakti (power). Built in 1909 through the kar sewa of Baba Jiwan Singh, the gurdwara features a high-ceilinged congregation hall with a fluted lotus dome above the sanctum.
