About

Gurdwara Damdama Sahib in Delhi, located near Humayun's Tomb, commemorates the historic 1707 meeting between Guru Gobind Singh and Prince Muazzam (later Emperor Bahadur Shah) where they strategized the prince's battle for succession to the Mughal throne after Aurangzeb's death. The Guru agreed to support the prince on the condition that those responsible for the killing of his sons and the destruction of Anandpur Sahib would be punished. First built by Sikh General Baghel Singh in 1783 during the Sikh conquest of Delhi and later renovated by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the present building dates from 1984.
