Founded in 1970 when Yogi Bhajan dispatched Dr. Sat Kirpal Singh Khalsa and his wife to Eugene, Oregon, the Guru Ram Das Ashram at 3635 Hilyard Street is one of the oldest Sikh communities on the West Coast. The ashram hosts regular Gurdwara services, Kundalini Yoga classes, and breakfasts for homeless persons six times per year. After September 11, 2001, members founded the Interfaith Prayer Service International, which became the longest-running interfaith service in the United States.
