Gurdwara Sri Har Rai Sahib Ji in Amritsar is associated with the seventh Sikh Guru, Guru Har Rai (1630–1661), who led the Sikhs for seventeen years after succeeding his grandfather Guru Hargobind at age fourteen. Known for maintaining the Sikh army while avoiding military conflict, Guru Har Rai established an Ayurvedic hospital and research center at Kiratpur Sahib and sent missionaries across India and Central Asia to spread Guru Nanak's teachings. This Gurdwara preserves the memory of his gentle stewardship of the Sikh faith during a volatile period of Mughal rule.
